Re: Toriyama's DBZ inspirations - Visual Guide

Next, is the famous Saiyan Battle Armor . First revealed by the Raditz character in the 1989 manga, but most strongly associated with Vegeta. http://pm1.narvii.com/6095/93d2568b27735c14e4cf6455f761845ebe859b1b_hq.jpg Its not quite as easy to figure out, since theres so many different types of armor ...

Re: Toriyama's DBZ inspirations - Visual Guide

I always thought Vegeta was inspired by General Zodd, probably not visually but he kinda feels similar, not to mention that Toriyama had parodied Superman before with Suppaman and that Superman II came out in 1980 which may have given Toriyama some inspiration, I also think Nappa might have been in...

Re: Toriyama's DBZ inspirations - Visual Guide

I've always wondered what inspired Toriyama to create so many dome shaped buildings in the Dragon Ball universe. http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q736/Mr_Frogman/Junk/DBZ%20domes_zpsyl7vlwfh.jpg Just a few days ago, I came across some pictures of a 'dome home' village built in Brittany, France so...

Re: Any celebrities that like Dragon Ball?

I marked out so hard when I saw this live. I'm assuming this was from a WrestleMania. Which one? Did anyone mention DB explicitly or was it just the costume? Yes, Wrestlemania 32. The announcers acknowledged it, I cant remember if they had any DBZ jokes in their promo? https://youtu.be/h_2i9gt2qMA

Re: Why did Raditz and Nappa have to die?

I'm pretty much reiterating what everyone else has said, but their deaths were used to further the story in their own ways. Raditz I think was killed to show that facing a Saiyan warrior is a tough and dangerous encounter. Literally a fight to the death. I mean, if it took the nearly invincible Goku...

Toriyama's DBZ inspirations - Visual Guide

I thought it would be fun to make a thread focused on rediscovering some of Akira Toriyama's inspirations for the Dragon Ball franchise. But first things first, I want to be clear that this is not meant to try to 'out' him in any way. As the saying goes, "Good artists copy, great artists steal....

Re: Your First Dragon Ball Video Game

My first DBZ games were the PS1 trilogy (GT: Final Bout, Ultimate Battle 22, & Legends), and since it was 1998, you had to import them somehow. My poor parents lol... I had them order the games and an adapter from one of those Japanese import companies in the back of Electronic Gaming Monthly ma...
