Re: How would you use Raditz?

I'm throwing around some ideas for a fanfic, but this one involves a sort of ultra-extended version of the events of Movie 12. But in it I actually reintroduce both Lunch and Raditz, Raditz being a partner to an oni Lunch who Enma deemed just crazy enough for the position (this of course being the r...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 5/1/17!)

I... Can't... Really muster up much more than apathy for DB: Minus.

Not a bad exploration of what is legitimately irk-able about it though. I mean, as if you're really capable of providing anything less than good analysis. I think you'd have to try to do anything not at least intriguing.

Re: How do you define a good dub?

Something which keeps the original intent of the dialogue while not feeling married to the wording. Example; in DBZ Movie 1, I think TFS is the only dub which successfully captures the spirit of Goku's entrance at the castle. All the other dubs just translate the Japanese directly, but this one adap...

Re: This is probably why Toriyama "forgot" about Lunch...

How is Lunch annoying? She's like, one of the best characters in the original. Bulma and Chi-Chi are WAY more annoying, especially Chi-Chi, who's the most annoying character on the show. I'd argue Bulma during the original Dragon Ball is way more annoying than Chi-Chi ever became (at least in canon...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

How do you get a Two and half men vibe from DBZA? Not really a similar style and TFS is actuallu funny I get more of a Seinfeld vibe. :P What? No. :| Seinfeld is like observational humor. An entire subplot in Seinfeld was about trying to get rid of a shirt or something, or keeping clear of a gang w...

Re: Has Dr Slump (anime and/or manga) been released in any countries outside of Japan?

Harmony Gold (Barely) Dubbed the series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANPQAZ6W7U DID I MISS SOMETHING!?! WHEN DID THIS LEAK?!?! If my memory's right, they dubbed the first episode only. Well, I knew that, but I figured that this was lost to time like the series dub for Dragon Ball. I've never s...

Re: Most distressing thing in Dragonball?

The entire Videl vs. Spopovich episode. And the Kuririn stabbing episode.

The two episodes I'm most likely to skip in any given viewing. The former is just horrifyingly uncomfortable, and the latter was enough to make me nearly vomit at a couple points.

How Would You Handle the Music of Modern Dragon Ball?

I've been thinking about this. I think Kikuchi is masterful at making themes... But I think the orchestration is what really dates his sound to people (not me, but others). One thing I noticed about his later soundtracks (Movies 12 and 13) is how much more modern they sounded, and I think that's in ...

Re: Dragon Ball films in high-definition

How did the development / animation process differ for the films vs the weekly TV show? I don't know enough about how the TV show was developed to understand how the films differed. Well, for one thing, the films were shot (and stored) on 35mm film instead of the 16mm film which the TV series was s...

Re: Favorite Non-FUNi English Voices?

Tenshinhan I think actually has been done well more times than not. In fact, I really only have problems with a couple of versions. Eddie Frierson's "Shinto" performance I actually like a lot. Sounds pretty close to the original, although I think under better direction he would definitely ...

Re: Favorite Non-FUNi English Voices?

I'll always have a soft spot for Blue Water's Goku and Pan. Both were great choices with inconsistent direction. I quite liked Blue Water's Lunch and Roshi too actually, now that I think about it. I wonder, is there a particular voice that you feel NOBODY has truly mastered yet? Kuririn, Roshi, Pan...

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoshu! Saiya-jin and Dragon Ball Z 2: Gekishin Freeza! - These two are lots of fun to me. The card system works here to me, and I actually love how they change up the story in lots of various little ways. Dragon Ball Z 2: Super Battle - Great arcade fighter, WAY better than the firs...

Re: Favorite Non-FUNi English Voices?

There are a few Blue Water voices that I thought were really strong in their dub of OG Dragon Ball, which is much better than their GT dub. Zoe Slusar as Goku, Leda Davies as Bulma, Mike Shepherd as Kami, Dave Pettitt as Popo and Dean Galloway as Pilaf are some of my favorites. Hmm... Mind if I say...

Okay, so, Fusion Reborn has like the BEST soundtrack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Oz9u6iYF-8

Like... WOW! The sheer amount of variety among this soundtrack just astounds me! This kind of stuff is why I love Kikuchi so much! If this is what the entirety of the "Z" portion sounded like, I'd have no problems!
