Re: FYE Announces Dragon Ball Z Orange Brick "Collector's" Box Set

I am appalled that these sets haven't been put out of print yet. If people are wondering why the orange bricks continue to sell better than other releases, this is why. Whenever I looked at the anime section in an FYE store, they would always have a bunch of orange and blue bricks available at $30 a...

Re: I need help deciding what to buy (dvd) for those who bought the bricks

as for the scam stuff, well it certainly seems fishy, but only because of the price and the fact that it´s from China. I don´t know, it came up recently and already sold to two people. It says seasons 1-9, brand new, and the image shows the US version. Also free shipping. :problem: 99% sure you wer...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Does anyone know how the footage from Funimation's recent "Dragon Ball Z 30th Anniversary Retrospective" stacks up against other footage? Do you guys think that they're using footage from the new set? https://youtu.be/LbidPaHYBk4 https://youtu.be/wVB434VFwJc https://youtu.be/_nJqNSNp4Ao T...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

The Reservation Period is over so, what happens next? All cards will be charged, and orders will be processed. Orders that cannot be fully processed will be canceled and you will not receive a set. A notification of shipment will be sent out sometime before the end of the year when the set is ready...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Reservations appear to still be open for the time being even though the deadline has passed. At the time of this post, there are still 1,407 sets available. I guess they're keeping it open a little longer incase anyone still buys any though at this point, it's highly unlikely they'll manage to sell ...

Re: It’s time for fans to come together and remaster the series properly.

Kei was able to get a 16mm episode of dragon ball so it'a not possible to do it a baby step at a time (like how starwars fans got original 35mm reels to scan in) With Star Wars, you're talking about three movies that were widely distributed on film in hundreds if not thousands of theaters throughou...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Rejecting this release, refusing to purchase it and making it known to Funimation that we want better is fine. Calling people out as being morons for sucking it up and going with the least worst version available is not fine and some of you need to learn to treat people with better respect than that...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Do a super-quick, bare-bones release of their raw film scans, cropped no more than what's necessary to avoid the damaged edges and tape marks, with no extras, as a budget release that they could just sell on their website or something. Preferrably with the original title cards kept intact. They cou...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I don't think a full scale level sets quality restoration is feasible given the low cost of the set ($350 for 291 episodes is pretty damn inexpensive) but if we can convince Funi to use the raw film scans or a slightly cropped version of them just to eliminate the film edges, that would be the best ...

The only improvement is that they're using the intended AR otherwise there's no improvement.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

People are buying the 30th Anniversary Blu-rays when it's just the Season Sets in 4:3 AR. Thus, FUNimation assumes the 30th Anniversary Blu-ray release is a success and that hardcore fans are happy with it. You lot didn't vote with your wallet so it happened. Plus, those who pre-ordered can't compl...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Making old footage feel "modernized and fresh" by cropping it to 16:9 is exactly what everyone criticizes FUNimation for. It's a bit inconsistent to exclude Kai and Toei from that criticism in my opinion. If they wanted 16:9 they should have reanimated it from scratch, not use footage tha...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

If Toei is working on their own remaster, then this set will have no reason to exist and there will end up being even more nonstop complaining from everyone. So a small part of me is hoping that doesn't happen or at least not for a few years.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

That blu-ray screenshot for Batman looks leagues better than the dvd screenshot. I'm not familiar enough with that show to know what tone of red the sky is supposed to be but the way you can see detail on the building in the blu-ray screenshot versus it being a silhouette on the dvd tells me that th...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Funimation updated the reservation page to reflect that the 3,000 goal has been met and the progress bar has been replaced with one counting down the number of sets still available before the maximum 6,000 limit. I don't see any new info.
