Re: Toonami Rewind Block On Fridays.
Re: Funimation's acknowledgement of Ocean's tenure on the show. Sure they released the limited edition Rock the Dragon boxset but even that was kept separate from their in-house even though it logically should have used the entire edited original dub that aired on Toonami or at least up to Goku's A...

Re: Toonami Rewind airing Dragon Ball Z....Kai?
As MasenkoHA also pointed out Funimation probably don't want to keep having to pay Bruce Faulconer royalties (which he doesn't deserve), which they would need to do on a constant basis if they were to allow their dub be aired as a nostalgic event. Although the obvious solution for that would be to ...

Re: Toonami Rewind Block On Fridays.
I'd have to imagine Toonami choosing to air Kai over Z in recent years has to do with efficiency. Their 1st run of Kai was only 1 episode per week. If they'd chosen to rerun all of Z like that in 2015, the filler would've killed the ratings. Kai got to the big moments much faster. It's cool that To...

Re: Toonami Rewind Block On Fridays.
I like the part where I said "I get why" and get multiple replies telling me why.
Seriously guys, it wasn't a question of why they didn't use the Canadian dub, it was an comment that regardless it's still weird to use the Studiopolis dub for a throwback block.

Re: Toonami Rewind Block On Fridays.
I get WHY they can't use the old Canadian dub for Sailor Moon but it is kinda weird to use the ViZ dub as part of a nostalgic throwback block when it's never been on Toonami before. At least Dragon Ball Z Kai did run on Toonami like 10 years ago and actually qualifies as a "rewind" and had...

Re: English Actors that were cast post...a certain timeframe.
Should be noted Colleen Clinkenbeard did Princess Snake for the UUE dub and was obviously Luffy for One Piece so she actually predates Kai by a few years. I also don't hear the similarities between Henderson and Clinkenbeard's Gohan's...like at all. Nadolny definitely started out imitating Henderson...

He made May 9th Piccolo day because it was a send up of how May 9th should be Goku day

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
To build off the Red Ribbon Army arc conversation, I think what made that arc so fantastic to me is that it was just an excellent story for Goku where he makes peace with his grandpa’s death. You can certainly criticize it in a number of different ways but the fact that it was a legit character dri...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Right, the initial setup of Shin/Kibito/Goku doesn't impress me. I hope the "Universal Travel" bit is short, or that other characters eventually join them. The Red Ribbon Army had a similar problem, where it was just Goku going places and single-handedly beating the problem up without eff...

Re: ME TOONS CONFIRMED! (SPEED RACER IN THE LINE UP)
On a closing thought, I think that Dragon Ball is the Disney Adult's anime. It's generic and mainstream enough with a 25+ year fandom in the US alone to build up the mystique of its importance and nostalgia. I'd take it a step further and say Shonen anime in general is the Disney Adult's anime. The...

Re: ME TOONS CONFIRMED! (SPEED RACER IN THE LINE UP)
Throwing my own two cents/personal experience about the whole millennial manchildren phenomenon. While, I agree millennials by and large are far more fixated on their childhood entertainment than any other generation, I dunno, in my experience most of us are more nostalgic for things from our teenag...

Re: Did Fuji TV air the original Dragon Ball anime completely uncensored?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Japan used to allow full nudity to be shown on Japanese broadcast television until the early 2000s. This is why DBZ Kai censored scenes featuring Gohan's penis in the Saiyan arc. They seemed to be okay with child nudity because it was seen as innocent. I.e You aren't su...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Tournament of Power-arc of Super had bad/lazy writing according to some, but i was always really looking forward the next episode. GT first and only watch: struggling to not fall asleep on my couch massively. People who criticize Super for lazy writing but don't criticize GT, the only reason i can ...

I would imagine it would stream on Crunchyroll but it would be way more beneficial to stream on Disney+ or Hulu or Netflix
Although fuck Netflix.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
And as we all know, that is also the reason why Evolution and GT was so successful.......wait  GT was successful at the time even if it suffered from franchise fatigue. It did worse than the previous two series it didn't bomb. Also lololol FujiTv wishes Dragon Ball Super had the ratings that...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Actually, I would, since it was indeed "groundbreaking". If it wasn't, it wouldn't have been live-streamed in front of thousands of people in huge public events. :) Oh, is there another anime in the 2010s that was live-streamed to thousands of people that I wasn't aware of? Considering ho...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
No one would call the DBS anime "groundbreaking", but at the end of the day it was decent promotion for the manga and the films. Actually, I would, since it was indeed "groundbreaking". If it wasn't, it wouldn't have been live-streamed in front of thousands of people in huge pub...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Yeah a series thriving off "Remember this thing?" and had notoriously shit animation in the early episodes that was such a laughing stock it had to be fixed for the blu-ray is not what any rational person would call "groundbreaking"

Re: The reason Goku stayed dead that no one talks about
The same thing happened with Chichi. She calmed down a lot when Goku died. Granted she seemed to be on her way in the Cell arc. That's true. She went from "no martial arts for Gohan, period" to "Fine he can practice martial arts with you but no fighting evil artificial life for the f...
