And in comparison to disgusting things like that that enforce EXTREMELY harmful negative depictions of blacks... yeah, Popo, Black, and Killa's lips, while absolutely stereotypical and not exactly a positive depiction by any means, are barely an issue. Something interesting about this sort of thing...

Oh, he also said "ending" rather than "opening", my bad.MasenkoHA wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 8:04 am He's referring to this one:

It does get confusing when Funimation has like 5 different themes for one series.

Yes, because as a generic US sitcom intro guitar riff, it's anything but.Dragon ball master wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 6:54 am I'm I the only one who thinks that the ultimate uncut edition ending is Underrated

Makafushigi Adobencha Just a quick chime-in, not much point in romanizing loanwords in this manner, because, well, it's a loanword. As far as the question... haven't quite thought of it yet but that specific one is up there for sure. We Were Angels is about the only noteworthy ED that I have a pref...

Classical/Baroque/Romantic/etc-era references in Kikuchi's OST
When watching DB (and going through one of the YT playlists gathering each BGM), I was able to pick up on a few works like Beethoven or Chopin popping up in the very early episodes at times for brief sections. But then later on, you have stuff like M420 which is basically "Ride of the Valkyries...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
I don't know if they really gave it much thought. As far as I recall the music for those episodes is the same generic faux metal "something dangerous is gonna happen" music like the rest of the series dub. It might be that no actual new music was created for those and they opted to simply...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
All of GT's dub was scored by Mark Menza. Menza did the music for Z movies 1, 6 (which is where the movie theme used for the remastered dub came from) ,7 , 8 (mixed with recycled Faulconer tracks and licensed rock and metal bands) , 11 and all of Dragon Ball GT. I see, I guess that's the only DB se...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
Honestly, the only reason we probably even got covers for the GT opening and ending songs is because all they had was Step into the Grand Tour which was too short and didn't go with the unaltered animation forcing them to put in a minimum amount of effort for GT's Green Brick release If I may digre...

Re: Did Any Japanese Voices Get Better?
It's most common with (in-house) Funimation for one simple reason, that being their origins as a random selection of people from anywhere that initially auditioned to imitate the previous Ocean voice actors and for many of whom it was their first time working on an anime series. Of course, in stark ...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
It's the most prolific song alright, the number of times the original sound version has been released on separate CD's over the years since the original 1989 single is insane enough, without even going into the various references it's had in DB media since Z.

Looks like a source will have to be posted for every statement that gets thrown around on what GT's ultimate fate was.
(Far as I've seen it hasn't really made much of a comeback aside from a few inconsequential series & video games reusing some concepts from it.)

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
It's really baffling that Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT, hasn't got a Blu-ray release in Japan. Movies has been available on Blu-ray, despite some editing on certain movies, but not the TV series. Pretty much almost every major anime has gotten Blu-ray (HD remastered or SD-upscale)...

if Yamamoto ever plagiarized a Japanese artist You bet he has, and what's more is it's composers in the same field. Kenji Kawai, Yoko Kanno (of all people), and Kotaro Nakagawa spring to mind. Also plagiarized the guy who composed a character song by Show Hayami (from Bronze Zetsuai) . And there wa...

I dont play Dragon Ball games, and I am getting I understimated how iconic the scene is, but I do not appreciate getting dogpiled, I got it already. To be fair, it's still the same user that posted the Miles Morales comic photos in the first place (under the assumption that the reference would be c...

But as soon as he started copying music from MAJOR American films like Avatar and Terminator... his goose was cooked. BTW, as it turns out, Kai wasn't even the first time he'd traced Terminator films. (1992) Hit Song Collection 10, Track 07 - SUITE: Virtual Triangle - (1991) Terminator 2 Theme And ...

Using the original instrumentals is dependent on Toei providing them with such. More precisely, it's a matter for record labels such as Nippon Columbia and ZAIN RECORDS to handle, since they're the ones with the phonographic copyrights to any such instrumentals. Like anything else related to the mu...

Re: unpopular opinion: kenji yammoto should have never got fired
The basic impression I’m getting is that that entertainment industries in Japan seem to have rather skewed priorities (from a Western perspective) when it comes to what is considered an unforgivable/fireable offense. If an artist has abhorrent views or commits a serious sex crime, it will often be ...

Well, having someone around who openly deny Japan2nd WW atrocities (And even send open letter to US press about it) and had done stuff like this https://kotaku.com/politician-made-anti-lgbtq-comments-on-dragon-quest-com-1827885043 should be enough to fire him, or at least have serious talk and tell...
