Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 9/27/21!)
The praise for Studio Cockpit surprised me, as I've always disliked their over-exaggerated facial expressions. The characters look like they're GRINDING. THEIR. TEETH. SO. HARD!! Animation-wise they're fine, it's just the art style that bothers me, I guess. On a note I did agree with, yes the contra...

Re: Do You Have a Different Favorite Arc than You've Had in the Past?
Initially my favorite part of the series was not necessarily an arc, but the part where we first see Super Saiyans Goku and future Trunks in action. Freeza left such a terrifying impression with the way Gohan and Kuririn stood frozen in fear when they first sensed his power. Then Goku transforms and...

Re: Misanthropic themes in Dragon Ball and other Toriyama work
I don't necessarily see Toriyama's outlook on the world as being cynical or pessimistic, but as realistic. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Many people are selfish and ignorant. But the world is also not all doom and gloom. There are some who inspire hope, who strive for and even accomplis...

Re: At what point in the story did the characters look and feel their most powerful?
I was also going to say Goku when he first became a Super Saiyan; something about the way he was presented gave him an aura of mightiness, like he truly lived up to the legend as the most powerful thing in the universe. When it seemed he died after Namek's explosion, it almost felt like that was the...

Re: Non-American fans of Faulconer
We got some Faulconer-scored episodes over here in the Netherlands, so I simply enjoyed that version of the show unassumingly. If you look at my oldest posts here (please forgive their cringy nature, I was sixteen and very insecure) you can even see me praising the score, something that is unimagina...

Re: Welp, I’m done, never thought I’d say it, but I’m done.
I'm not happy either that my favourite franchise is being destroyed piece by piece. It's not being destroyed. The parts of Dragon Ball that you like will always be there for you to return to whenever you feel like it. Personally, no matter what new DB material comes out, it has no impact on my enjo...

Re: In my opinion, after the Saiyan Arc...
People forgot about Daimao because he only reigned for a couple of hours (not counting his previous reign during Mutaito's era). Imagine if this happened. Crazy dude comes on TV saying he's the king now and that he's going to destroy everyone. Very scary, except that a mere few hours later, it is an...

Huh. That was different. Not in a bad way. In a relatable way, actually. Fellow European with a background in language here. All the commentary about translation was on point. Re: things that grind your gears
Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo dying and being rendered irrelevant in the Buu saga. Nothing ground-breaking, just something that makes me INCREDIBLY salty. Something that has made me feel better about Gotenks and Gohan's roles in the Boo arc: they aren't the only ones training to beat Boo. There...

Re: Did Freeza ever say, "This is not even my final form" in canon?
The only lines I can think of that come close are Freeza telling Piccolo he can transform two more times, and telling Goku he's only using [insert number here] percent of his power. A "not even my final form" line would make most sense in his 3rd form, but by that point we already knew it ...

Re: Wiki Preview Live Stream (04 January 2021)
Couldn't make it to the live broadcast due to time zones, but just caught up via the YouTube version. Whew! That sure was a thing. About another thing. Some random thoughts first: - Way to make me drool within half a second by starting off with that banner of manga panels. - I love that Appule was a...

Re: Kanzenshuu's favorite arcs. UPDATE: The results
It's probably because the Saiyan arc has a solid, satisfying three-act structure. (Of course a contributing factor for the Saiyan and Namek arcs' popularity is also that many of us saw them on repeat several times over before we got any other part of the story) On the topic of the Red Ribbon arc's r...

Re: Kanzenshuu's favorite arcs.
Super and GT are not very fresh in my mind, so their ratings may be off, especially since I haven't read the Super manga (except for the second half of the Moro arc). From what I've heard, it's more coherent compared to the anime's haphazard nature, so if I did read the Super manga some of its arcs ...

Re: Why is Earth the only planet with a reigning God?
I always kind of saw the Eldest Namekian as the "god" of that planet, but maybe that's just because we often see them in communication with Earth's god(s) and other deities like Kaio. It's like he's on the level of "god" without officially being a god.

Re: how have battle with Cell alter Vegeta character.
At first, not much. While preparing for the Cell Games, Vegeta still seemed convinced he would be the one to destroy Cell. But during Goku's fight with Cell, Vegeta suddenly admits that Goku is beyond him. Sooo... something changed. Maybe it was simply seeing Goku in action again (who had been out o...

The whole section of Videl uncovering the Great Saiyaman's identity was altered in the anime, so only bits and pieces of that were animated.

I like the idea of Raditz and Nappa being reincarnated as Goten and Trunks. This is moooooooooost likely not the case though.

Re: Appreciating the Little Things
I live for the little things. Forget beam struggles and transformations -- gimme stuff like Muten Roshi hiding in a drawer after Goku kicks Lunch in the face (yeah that's a thing that actually happened). - A confused Goku poking at an empty mech, knocking it over, and thinking "He just... died!...

Re: CREATIVE WRITING EXERCISE: Create your own "Tournament of Power recruitment arc" with IPs of your choosing
Let me try this with the franchise I was obsessed with before I got into Dragon Ball: the Looney Tunes. Given the random nature of Zen'o as well as the Looney Tunes, the point character could be anyone, but let's say Zen'o loves watching Looney Tunes and Bugs Bunny (1) is the most prominent one, so ...

Re: Did General Blue save the RR arc?
I wouldn´t say Blue single-handedly saved the arc (*cough* Tao Pai-Pai *cough*) but he is definitely one of its highlights. The Muscle Tower section is one of my least favorite parts of the story (though I would still rate it at least 7/10). Metallic, Buyon, and White aren't the most interesting of ...
