Re: The TV channel that trolled every DB Fan
The explanation for that I think was that the dubbing was done in batches of episodes, when it was released the first time only the first 60 episodes were dubbed, so they had to repeat them again until the next batch was finished. Another curious thing is that they used the third version of the firs...

Re: Dragon Ball Kai not streaming anywhere?
So far it is only known that HBO Max in Latin America is the only one that has Kai in streaming. Unfortunately, for episodes 1-98 it is the censored version of Nicktoons in both Spanish and English while The Final Chapters is only with audio in Spanish and Japanese with Spanish subtitles.

Re: Will we see a Latin American Kai redub before its streamed?
The Final Chapters has just been released on HBO Max and has no English audio track, only Spanish and Japanese with subtitles. Understandable, since this dubbing was based on the uncut version. One good thing is that we finally have an uncensored version of this dub since the version that was aired ...

Re: Will we see a Latin American Kai redub before its streamed?
I hear The Final Chapters is to be added when HBO Max gets there. It will be the debut of Funimation's edited dub, which is kinda neat too. Really? I thought the Latino Spanish dub of The Final Chapters was based on FUNimation's uncut dub. I know the pre- Final Chapters stuff was based on the censo...

Re: USA got it worst with anime/manga releases?
Time for manga, how does the U.S. compare to the rest of the world?
Because I think when it comes to manga, many countries have made quality releases but I would like to know how it compares to what they have done in the US.

Re: USA got it worst with anime/manga releases?
I can't speak for the manga since I haven't finished reading it and am not that familiar with the various different releases there, but as far as anime releases? Oh gosh, we didn't get the worst release at all -- not even close! For a few reasons. -If one counts the Japanese audio track on the DVDs...

Re: Why don't anime studios do this?
I said it around at some post already, I believe the time for anime in 2D style has passed and from now on all of the anime we will be getting will be as in the latest DB movie, which is not something bad per se. The mistakes of the cheap animation you are pointing out here would be eliminated sinc...

Re: Why don't anime studios do this?
Besides, animation studios and the production committee can't afford to take the time to animate everything at once, they have contracts with the TV stations and if they don't meet the deadlines they are given, they run the risk of losing the time slot on the TV station's channel.

Re: Dragon Ball Z - Unfortunate name
It reminds me of the similar situation with the use of the swastika in Asia, for them it does not have the same meaning as it was given in the West.

Re: WIth the success of the Sonic movie, is it time for Hollywood to revisit Dragon Ball?
I hope not, DB is one of those works that doesn't translate well in Live-action, it barely does in CGI, plus I don't think they want to do something like that again after the failure of Evolution.

Sadly, for DBZ they used the Season Sets and there is no subtitled version.

Re: Variety - "Crunchyroll Is Adding All Funimation Anime Content, Sony Starts to Phase Out Funimation Brand"
I mean this might be a bit hard for Americans to wrap their heads around, but as far as most of the world is concerned, "Funimation" is mostly just "those guys that made that hilariously awful English Dragonball dub" and MAYBE, and only if they're older than most of Crunchyroll'...

Also here in Latin America, they were known because any anime they licensed would automatically be blocked in the region unless a third party bought the license from them.

Re: Variety - "Crunchyroll Is Adding All Funimation Anime Content, Sony Starts to Phase Out Funimation Brand"
If the FUNimation is being phased out, that’s gonna be weird. I don’t see why it’s necessary. I know Sony is a recognizable name, but FUNimation was already an established brand to English-speaking anime fans. Is it a synergy thing? After they bought Crunchyroll, they said they wanted to have a sin...

Re: Variety - "Crunchyroll Is Adding All Funimation Anime Content, Sony Starts to Phase Out Funimation Brand"
I'm not really in the loop with this sort of stuff so what does this all mean? Is FUNi eventually closing shop or something? The brand "Funimation" as such will cease to exist, from now on everything licensed will be under the name of Crunchyroll. Also, any series they license from now on...

Re: Variety - "Crunchyroll Is Adding All Funimation Anime Content, Sony Starts to Phase Out Funimation Brand"
I wonder how it will affect the dubbing of both companies, especially Funimation which operates mostly in Texas, besides the fact that a year and a half ago they started dubbing in Spanish and Portuguese.

Re: Variety - "Crunchyroll Is Adding All Funimation Anime Content, Sony Starts to Phase Out Funimation Brand"
This is quite surprising, I would have thought Crunchyroll would be the one to go, as Funimation shamelessly discarded the decades old Manga UK brand I think it's because Crunchyroll is a better known brand worldwide while Funimation is mainly known only in English-speaking countries. It will be fu...

Re: Will we ever get a 4K Dragon Ball Z release from Funimation?
I don't think they will, the masters they have are not adequate to make a 4K remaster.
Since they are second or third generation copies of the original masters, the grain would be too much at that resolution.
