Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
To build off the Red Ribbon Army arc conversation, I think what made that arc so fantastic to me is that it was just an excellent story for Goku where he makes peace with his grandpa’s death. You can certainly criticize it in a number of different ways but the fact that it was a legit character dri...

Re: Little known facts about your broadcast
The scene with Goku feeling Bulma's crotch was censored when the series aired on Cartoon Network. And yet, the very same scene was played uncensored during CN's broadcast of Path to Power in Latin America.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Like, I don't dislike the Red Ribbon Army arc, but the entire joke of "Oh no, looks like Goku was finally defeated- Ha ha, just kidding, Goku is really invincible! Isn't Goku so amazing, kids? :D" is extremely overdone in Red Ribbon and wears itself off very fast. When GT started repeating...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Right, the initial setup of Shin/Kibito/Goku doesn't impress me. I hope the "Universal Travel" bit is short, or that other characters eventually join them. The Red Ribbon Army had a similar problem, where it was just Goku going places and single-handedly beating the problem up without effo...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
The Pan hate in GT has always struck me as so exaggerated. I think there's a type of fan is obsessed with characters making logical and efficient decisions to end the game story as quickly as possible and that type or fan usually clings to rules and 'hard facts' to advance this, and characters like...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
People here seem to like crapping on TFS, but they've been doing a pretty good review of GT recently. For example, there's one episode where Goku and Trunks are discussing bringing Pan back to Earth and switching her out for Goten, because they feel like she isn't cut out for these dangerous advent...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
At the risk of driving this further off topic, I'm at a total loss at how this even turned into a GT vs Super flame war. All that was pointed out was evidence that Super was *snicker* "a groundbreaking anime" was just a clear case of the Dragon ball FRANCHISE being a international phenome...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Tournament of Power-arc of Super had bad/lazy writing according to some, but i was always really looking forward the next episode. GT first and only watch: struggling to not fall asleep on my couch massively. People who criticize Super for lazy writing but don't criticize GT, the only reason i can ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Groundbrakingly the only entry Toriyama has ever openly acknowledged was bad, other than Evolution and BoG's initial draft. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This isn't subjective, Toei's writers themselves have admitted in interview they've done a shoddy job writing Super and felt the audience had lost trust in them by th...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Other anime has surpassed Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z That's all subjective you know. For me and many other people, DB franchise stands at the top. Most of these other anime wouldn't exist without it either... Most anime wouldn't exist without Kimba The White Lion, including Dragon Ball itself. T...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 4/29/24!)
Was there ever an explanation given for why Goku couldn't just go SSJ4 and use instant transmission to get out of hell? We know that when he's alive he can teleport in and out of the afterlife because he does it the entire Buu arc. That's something I have wondered for the longest time myself. In th...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 4/29/24!)
This arc is amazing from an Everything-is-awful POV. If you'd try to miss every single turn, you are bound to at least once get something right, just by chance, which doesn't happen here, it's incredible, the perfect storm of bad decisions. I'd say the "something right once" in this case ...

Maybe they do have Ki, but as opposed to other villains who have natural super-strong Ki like Freeza, #17 and #18's are those of regular weak impossible to distinguish human Ki? Just a stretch.

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
I mean, GT isn't liked all that much in Latin America either, despite our dub being very faithful to the source. Err... not really. GT is as liked and fondly remembered as the previous two series here. The dubbed versions of the opening and the only ending we've got were so iconic that a lot of peo...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
Fans keep saying this but GT wasn't very well liked even before Funimation got their hands on it. That was the whole reason for their "You think you know GT?" approach at a time where they were starting to be somewhat more faithful with their dubs like Fruit Basket and Yuyu Hakusho and ev...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 4/29/24!)
As for "#17 and #18 don't have ki": given that they are indeed cyborgs, and thus living organisms, and given that ki is life force, and they're alive......they kinda have to have ki, right? The story can say they don't, but the story could also repeatedly tell us that Goku has no arms, wh...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
I would say that the difference with American comics is that they aren’t very serialized stories in the way that DB is, you do have multiple different continuities that explore the characters in different ways but its often not part of a continuous story line like DB is. I'm not entirely sure how t...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Dragon Ball canon stop existing when his own creator started recton events in his own manga, with DB Minus being the biggest offender. I think there was more good than bad from Toriyama's involvement in modern Dragon Ball and I'm grateful than he came back, but it always felt like Toei wanted to te...
