Re: Favourite Ginyuu Special-Squad member?
Mine's Jeice, but not just Jeice generally. The specific Jeice from the original Funimation dub with the corny Australian accent. I didn't like the redubbed version in Kai and he's generally a throwaway character in the Japanese version, but that accent coupled with his personality just made him my ...

Re: Shout outs to TFS in Kai
Trust me, a year of listening to people argue on Rangerboard about whether or not this episode's events on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger had some reference to the American Power Rangers will make you realize that people will look for the references they want, even if it doesn't exist(Now Go-Busters is re...

Re: New Interview with Mark Menza - Composer of Dragon Ball
Excellent interview. Thank you for doing this and getting info for the fans, and thanks to Mark Menza (if he ever reads this) for agreeing to do it and for his very informative and enlightening answers. I definitely wish him all the best in his career.

Re: Looking for DBZ Movies 1, 2, and 3 Subtitled VHS Tapes.
Does anyone know exactly what was listed for the first 3 movies? The releases I'm aware of (pre-UUE) are: 1-3 VHS dubbed with Japanese score 1-3 VHS subbbed 1-3 DVD bilingual Relatedly, was there ever a release of the version of Tree of Might with the dub score? I know such a version exists since it...

Re: New Interview with Mark Menza - Composer of Dragon Ball
Even as someone who doesn't care much for the GT soundtrack due to its repetitive nature, there's nothing inherently wrong with it other than the fact that it doesn't fit the show. I do have to disagree with him on one point, though. He noted that generally people always like the way they first were...

Re: Why is the term "Ki" still not used in the English dub?
In the first episode featuring the Xingese characters, the FMA: Brotherhood dub used "ki". So apparently Funimation has no problem with "ki" as long as it's not in DBZ. This is totally post hoc reasoning, but in DB/Z/GT, the characters all talk about Ki and energy in normal parl...

Shunsuke Kikuchi: Ginyu Theme (or whatever that track is called on the OSTs; it's the battle theme used frequently throughout early DBZ) Shuki Levy: Goku Arrives from Other World Nathan Johnson: Vegeta vs. Zarbon Team Faulconer: (tie) Energy Disc Music & Gohan Fights Freeza Mark Menza: (Z) SSJ T...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Complete BGM Collection Soundtrack (3 CD)
Just.. Just why was Solid State Scouter not included on this DBZ Complete BGM Collection Soundtrack? Unmei No Hi ~ Tamashii Vs. Tamashii (Gohan's SSJ2 Theme) is on DBZ 5-CD SET but not on DBZ 3-CD SET, aw. :? My two faves missing from the named DBZ Complete BGM Collection Soundtrack, this is rather...

To the extent that he can answer, how much of the GT music direction was his own creative decision rather than corporate directives?

Re: If DB was serious
I interpret "serious" as darker, somewhat more realistic while still soundly rooted in fantasy. On the one hand, it could work. If you look at the spectrum of DB/Z/GT, you've got 2 fairly "dark" parts that are more serious in tone: the Piccolo stuff in DB and the later Freeza stu...

Re: Is there anyone here who hasn't seen the whole series?
I've seen every episode, but it was scattered. I saw nearly every episode of Z from 1 to 200 roughly in order. Then I largely stopped watching it on TV and just got the DVDs as they came out for Buu. DB I've seen every episode, but only a handful on TV. That was almost exclusively DVDs. I can't reca...

Re: Namek and Android arcs (Kuichi): Kai dub or DBZ dub?
While Namek has a nostalgia factor for me, the voice work for Kai is infinitely better for both. I still prefer the Faulconer music to Kikuchi, and Yamamoto is somewhere in the middle. Just glad I snagged the Kai sets before they got discontinued.

Re: The Hyper Dimension Dilemma
Keep it sealed and the seal unbroken. The game is my personal favorite DBZ game. Super Famicom games play in the slim US Snes with a minor modification that takes just a set of pliers to pull off. I'd suggest getting a cartridge only copy of the game. I go to trade shows once or twice a year and the...

Re: Did Funimation put just as much effort in? (Not Sub vs
The idea that Funimation put "effort" into Dragonball is laughable. We're talking about a company that outsourced its own job, voicework, before finally bringing it in-house after the show became a hit. It outsourced home video, too. It succeeded from a promotional perspective largely due...

Re: Is it true Rock the Dragon was still used in 1999?
No. The "Rising Sun" block happened during the time Toonami was still skipping the opening sequences of shows. Did Toonami ever play the opening sequence during DBZ's original run? The first time I heard the full theme was when I picked up a Buu-era DVD (Babidi: Rivals, I believe) and dis...

I hadn't heard this before either. I know about the whole email controversy with the Funi bigwigs, but I wasn't aware of anything like this. If it exists, I'd really like to hear it. Unfotrunately, our resident Faulconer Productions insider Scott Morgan was gone after he did the Pikkon Theme (or som...

Re: Dragon Ball in a casual aspect?
I. Do you not really care for any other anime/manga series besides Dragon Ball? Back in college, I was buying quite a bit of anime and really enjoyed it. The first non-DBZ series I started buying was Yu Yu Hakusho, which actually was due to a combination of a promo for one of the later DVDs in the ...

Re: STOP SOPA NOW!
Let's be realistic. SOPA would have been overturned the second someone challenged it. In fact, I would have offered to represent the first person adversely affected by it free of charge. The Supreme Court doesn't like laws that are vague and/or overbroad. This was both and I would gladly have writte...

That kind of defeats the purpose then. I might as well have a DBZ playlist playing from my ipod via speakers adjacent to my tv and just turn the BGM off in the game. Thanks for the help, guys!
