Re: Does anyone feel like they've outgrown the anime?
This topic reminds me of a great quote: Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these thing...

Re: Dragon Box: The Movies - FUNimation Release Still Possib
There is some material that is digital and will only ever be upscaled. Stuff like Samurai Champloo (second version), for instance, looks way better on Blu just because you don't have all of that macroblocking going on. DB shouldn't need to be upscaled, though, and any Blu-Ray they put out should be...

Sure. "Noise" is probably a bad term, anyway.
The whole video looks like this or worse, sadly.

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
I'm trying to rip these, so I don't have to access the physical discs as often and wear down the packaging less. I know it would be a large HDD requirement, but I have an extra 1.3TB so that's not a problem. What IS a problem is that when I rip them with Handbrake, there is a LOT of weird noise fill...

Re: What Dragon Ball media do you consider canon
GT and the movies, plus some Z filler. While the DB and DBZ manga are interesting and nice for backstory purposes, they're hardly canon. Episode of Bardock, segments of the fighting games, and the safety specials round out the "real" DBZ universe, I think.

Re: Did Funimation put just as much effort in? (Not Sub vs
...you realize that Toei had to actually animate the show , right? Is animating an entire show really considered incidental to you? "Just make the manga and toss some filler in" is hardly nothing. It requires storyboarding, inking, painting. They were on a schedule where this show was rare...

Re: Did Baby's name ever bug you?
So you think "Baby" is stupid for the fetal parasite, but you're okay with Piccolo, the tiny instrument, for what is essentially DB earth's Satan? You're fine when it comes to an entire set of villains named after vegetables and dairy products for a galaxy-spanning empire? Frankly, "B...

"Discontinued" means "no more printings".Cipher wrote:They also do more than one printing (I assume) of each set. "Limited" doesn"'t mean "first-run only." The later boxes are likely continuing to be produced as we speak (write).

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
That could be, but I'm not convinced. 1) They didn't mention the term "limited release" when they announced their aquisition of the Dragon Boxes (to the best of my memory anyway, someone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). You are. They've used the word "limited" very li...

Re: DBGT - Confusion over Ultimate Dragon Balls (Help!)
(1). When Goku handed the UDBs back to Dende(Baby) and asked that they be sealed up, everyone expressed concern that he wouldn't be able to wish himself back to an adult again. I don't remember ever hearing that in order to reverse a wish you had to use the specific set of Dragon Balls the wish was...

"Kind of educated"? He was 12 years old and didn't know what number came after 11. Most 12 year-old kids know that.

Re: When will you be finished with your collection
Anime: Dragon Boxes. I have two left for Z. I will buy a Movies box. I would buy a DB box, and maybe even a GT box. I own original DB and GT, but if a proper Dragon Box release was done with Dragon Box packaging, default Japanese audio, next episode previews and proper credits sequences, I'd be happ...

Re: How many times have you watched Dragonball?
I'm simply awestruck that most of you have a "watched" count over one. After going through the whole thing in order once, I've never done more than watched a specific arc or set of episodes, I don't "watch" the series all at once in chronological order the way I might watch somet...

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Honestly speaking, if you would have put the Dragon Box disks inside of the Orange Brick box, a random passerby who bought DBZ at Wal Mart would have still bought it anyway and probably have been just as happy with it in 99% of cases. Only if you make English the primary audio track. When I was wor...

I only want the Dragon Boxes. As long as Funi releases those as planned, they can do whatever the hell they want with the franchise. Release a download-only "Dragonball without Goku" edition, where all scenes with Goku have him digitally painted over with no voiced lines. Make a box set th...
