Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
It shows how wide reaching Dragon Ball is that I first learned Toriyama died not here, but via the Dead Malls of Discord, a place totally unrelated to DB. 68. Man, I have family who are 68. I hope it was quick. I hope it didn't hurt. Acute subdural hematoma. So he hit his head hard enough to cause i...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I have many thoughts on this reveal. I would've been so sore if this had been announced years ago when I was still actively making fan-art/fan-comics because Goku being turned into a child was one of the parts of GT that I disliked the most. I wasn't a fan of it then and still am not due to the type...

Re: What would you do if you were sent back to 2002 with all DB heroes footage from today?
I'd like to jump back a little earlier than 2002 (take me to early 1996 then I could really create a full alternate timeline and learn if that other option would've truly been the better one), but if it's 2002 or bust I'd absolutely leap back into 2002. Honestly I'd be more preoccupied with seeing t...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 81 - Official Discussion Thread
I liked the use of trains, learning it was likely a reference and not an original idea lowers it a bit, but I still liked it.
The rest of the chapter is still mild to me.

Very happy to see Trunks and Goten finally be allowed to visibly age.

Re: Am I the only one who feels like I missed out on Dragon Ball?
Well, I don't miss phone-modems, dvds with 3-episodes-for $24, and lower-quality merchandise. I do miss the 00's DB community (same for BoG and the Weekly animated DBS era) and how much fun I had creating fanworks and enjoying others' fanworks. Periodically traveling to the Kinokuniya in NY to colle...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 80 - Official Discussion Thread
Artstyle is definitely subjective. Toyo's good at what he draws, but I'm just not a fan of his artstyle.
Storywise, yeah I've been and continue to be bored with this, and if it weren't free I wouldn't be reading. Why am I still reading this manga? There's still occasionally something fun in there.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 80 - Official Discussion Thread
I think if the artwork was more stylish, or closer to early 90's DB with its sharper lines, these battle visuals would be more appealing. The art is too round for the type of story they're telling here, imo.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
I think much of it comes down to the writing and execution of story ideas because despite being a fan of Goku and Vegeta as a duo, the majority of the manga post-ToP has been surprisingly boring to me even with those two front and center. They introduce hooks at the beginning of the arcs, but then e...

Actual, grown-up Trunks and Goten would be a draw for me. They finally let them physically age to EoZ size and I'll be impressed.

I hope the frame rate for the final product is higher. CGI can be done well (Disney and Pixar) but a choppy frame rate will make even polished CGI look awkward and distracting in motion.
Some parts of the trailer look fine, but others feel off.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
Maybe part of why Pan is involved is because the parent and child dynamic of Gohan and Pan is meant to mirror how many fans are parents with kids of their own now around Pan's age? At least in the U.S? I know the earlier fans in Japan who grew up with DB are at least 10 years older so I guess their ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
There's probably a couple factions (or more likely a few individuals) in the same level of management with opposing ideas of where to take the franchise, causing some infighting. I can't imagine we'll ever get the true story behind what made them shut down Super's return to weekly TV or why they're ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
I think Gamma 1 and 2's voice actors will carry the roles and they're sure to get some popularity due to the performances alone: Mamoru Miyano and Hiroshi Kamiya are both very talented.

Thoughts: +the voice choices for Gamma 1 & 2. Mamoro Miyano and Hiroshi Kamina. +for Gohan getting a bigger role for the first time in a long while. He's not my #1, but I'm happy for those who he is. +a scene where it's raining, as that is also rare in db +imagining how adding Broli to Goku and ...

Always happy to see tank top Vegeta. Ambivalent about everything else. Still not on the cgi train, not a RR fan, I like light hearted stories in weekly series, but I'd rather have an adventure and a legit antagonist for a movie. It'll probably be alright, but nothing to write home about. Still exci...

An anime arc with a bunch of engaging mysteries to theorize about and adventure to new and exciting locations with multiple plotlines running concurrently that eventually intersect in time for the climax of the story to begin. Also new arc-specific outfits/costume changes.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"
Do we know who's voicing Pan. Is nozawa doing it as it's a son character and she could actually use a deliberately girly voice. Or are they treating her like a new character/Satan character. Pan's been voiced by Yuko Minaguchi (who is also Videl). I'd be surprised if she wasn't. Minaguchi is 55.

I could see this as the end for a while. They let 3 of Nozawa's later working years in this modern era go by with no new animated db content after all. She's not attending Jump Festa in person, but digitally. Putting Pan front and center may have multiple reasons. I'm wondering now if after this fil...
