EDIT: I don't necessarily mean a COMPLETE retranslation of the entire series. I would even be happy with certain portions being retranslated and touched up.

I was going to keep this avatar for quite a while, but what the heck, it's Christmastime!

I think Pure Boo was definitely a suitable final villain. He was pretty much the first villain of the series to actually be an animal rather than a being with the ability to think rationally. There was absolutely no reasoning with it, and it only had one instinct: to destroy.

It definitely wasn't necessary for Japan, but I think it was really, really beneficial to the American market.

I'd say pick up the Full Color. You can experience the manga in a different way and the paper quality is great from what I heard. Viz's translation doesn't change from one release to another. It's a shame that Viz still hasn't released anything beyond the Saiyan arc and there's nothing from part 1....

I've never really given this much thought, but Kai would have been so, so much better if Tokunaga had done the music. His music was by far the best thing about GT.

You're obviously looking for an English release, but the best way to read the series would be the Japanese Kanzenban. As far as English releases go though, maybe the VizBigs? There isn't a doubt in my mind that they will/have renew(ed) it. Unless something crazy happens, FUNimation will have the rights to Dragon Ball for years to come.
