Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
I wouldn't say it's necessarily to do with form as Captain-Sora feels, but rather a stylistic choice based on current trends in anime. It really does have a good deal to do with form. That's how light and shadow works. The additional highlights are supposed to be illuminated planes facing the light...

Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
It's just additional highlights painted on the characters to add some dimensionality. Some of Toriyama's older colored artworks utilized them too. It's probably a clumsy attempt to overcompensate the aforementioned lack of form by adding another level of lighting on the characters, hoping to add dep...

Re: New Animation VS Old Animation
The real problem with a lot of DBZ's recent animation has less to do with the cheap and limited movement(which was always a thing that permeated the franchise), and more to do with the drawings themselves. Even though you'd often see a lot of out of proportioned stuff and horribly distorted features...

Re: Are there any dub pieces that you prefer over the origin
Would that unused piece happen to be the first cue that appears in the "Reunion! Tenkaichi Budokai" track from the BGM Collection? It starts off with upbeat Goku/action material and then segues into Piccolo's theme, followed by a rendition of Tullece's motif for when they have their littl...

Re: Are there any dub pieces that you prefer over the origin
Kikuchi did actually compose a music cue for this scene, but it went unused - and this is one case where I don't blame them, as I think the music intended was altogether too cheerful to completely fall in line with the gloomy backdrop. I'd link to it but that would just result in Kikuchi-bashing. W...

Re: The Most Bombastic Kikuchi Music?
So wait, are those links to four different songs, or are those links to 12-16 songs that are spread across 4 different videos? Because in each of them, I'll hear a melody that will come to a clear end before moving on to a different tune. A lot of tracks from the BGM sets are basically medleys of v...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So, no Kikuchi remastered sountracks? The only time that would have been appropriate would have been with Kai. Something I totally wanted to happen too. However, having a remastered Kikuchi score for an entirely new series would be awkward and clunky, as it tells the tale of brand new situations an...

Re: Dragon Ball Evolution vs. western adaptions of anime
From what I've seen from Speed Racer that it was too much like the anime and the campy feel of it turn people off. I think being too much the source material can be a bad thing too. Evolution was not faithful enough and Speed Racer was too faithful. There should be a right balance in my opinion. Th...

The game has been out for THREE MONTHS. I highly doubt they'll announce a sequel so early. BOZ was out for the that long as well when they announced XV. That's not really the same thing, though. That game was done by an entirely different developer and wasn't a sequel to anything, whereas XV was by...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
I wonder if Sumitomo will return to compose the BGM? It probably will be him. Personally, I wish they could get him or someone else to compose a new score that utilizes some of Kikuchi's material for scenes and situations when it's appropriate. Despite DBZ being a long-running series and not a movi...

In a way, this new form feels like it was inevitable after SSJ God became a thing. First yellow/gold, then red, and now blue. The RYB color model is now complete!

Well, I went ahead and tried some methods of Dragon Ball collecting. I gathered a set of DBs with each of the following. It was nonstop, besides an occasional break (which I stopped the timer for). Here are the results: 3rd Place: PQ02 Prepare for the Attack of the Saiyans! -1 hour and 21 minutes- ...

I find the one called "Attack of the Saiyans" the fastest. Even though it actually opens with a battle against Raditz, you can easily defeat him in an instant. It's especially easy if you have that Broly Z-Soul that gives you max ki at the start, so you can just ultimate blast him to death...

Dammit Gohan and Videl your fetch quest sucks. I'm trying to get the "I'm....okay" item, but the mission is so damn long. I beat it after long lengths of beating tons of foes, and the item won't drop. It's really annoying. Especially since this quest has the mission where Goku and Gohan s...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Gettin' reeeaaally tired of people pretending that J-Pop is something new to this franchise. No one's pretending that it is, but when a song feels awkward and out of place, it'll be awkward and out of place no matter what. J-Pop songs(hell, any pop song used in films, TV shows, etc. in general) usu...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
When that fabulous gold form is revealed and the blatantly out of place and fruity J-pop song for the movie starts playing, my mind immediately went to this:
PRINCESS FREEZA-CHAAAAAAN!
