Re: Bruce Faulconer or Shunsuke Kikuchi ?
For the life of me I will never understand this idea that "old" automatically equals "bad". If you ask me, we're currently in the dark ages of film/TV scoring. The old stuff is the good stuff. If you think the music in certain scenes in the Japanese TV series is unfitting, it's n...

Re: What are you known for in Kanzenshuu?
For being so crazy about good BGM, I've been known to spontaneously make episode-by-episode documentations of my favorite scores.

Re: DBZ rare soundtrack request
Unreleased cue from DragonBall, very rare. The only other time it's heard in the series is in DB episode 42, in a scene involving Ninja Murasaki and a snowmobile. My unofficial name for it is "Snowmobilin'"... try this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aldkPvo-S2s

Re: DBGT Soundtrack name?
I thought that "Living Under A Tyrant" this is a real name of that soundtrack.. Nope! I created episode-by-episode documentation for the music of DragonBall, DBZ and DBGT years ago ( example ), and to do so I came up with names for the cues we don't have official names for. This is probab...

Re: DBGT Soundtrack name?
We don't know its official name. My personal name for it is "Living Under A Tyrant", and you can hear it isolated here (though there's a jump cut in the middle).

Re: So a blue-haired girl walks into a bar...
You're welcome! Yes, I love getting wonderful surprises when it comes to menu music on DVDs; before the Blue Bricks, there were the old two-disc sets for DragonBall, and occasionally you'd get an unreleased cue playing during the various menus, though it was often edited. I believe it's the only way...

Thanks a bunch! That audio bot can either be the bane of one's existence or the handiest thing ever; it's also how Zestanor found out that "Kame Sennin Rock" was actually an instrumental of "Boogaloo".
I'll have to update my documentation.

Re: Soundtrack to DB Movie #1
I think the OP is talking about DragonBall (not Z) movie 1. There's never been anything close to a complete release, but a teensy tiny part of the "Legend of Shen Long" score is available on the 5-CD Daizenshuu set. For reference, you can look at my BGM documentation (scroll down past epis...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
I'm looking for the theme that plays a lot in the early Saiyan Saga I think it played when Raditz came out of his space pod and when Raditz was explaining the origin of the Saiyan race You're talking about the original Kikuchi score for DBZ, right? Also need an exact scene where the cue was tracked...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Can't believe I missed this awesome thread! Think anyone could tell me what track plays during the triple Super Saiyan transformation, in (please forgive my use of the english title) Super Android 13? Just in case that's not specific enough, I mean the scene where Vegeta transforms first, then Trun...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
"Preparing For The Kamehameha" is the cue that plays just before the title card, but there's another one slightly before that. And no wonder there was confusion... looks like I'd somehow overlooked it in my documentation. Sorry about that; I've added it in now. Simtek34, what you're after ...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
^ Nope. M1629 uses the "teen Gohan" theme (which takes the "Gohan lullaby" theme from much earlier in the series and changes some notes here and there). M1626 is the last cue that was meant for Movie 9, and M1627 - M1629 (or however many more M16XXs there were) were merely record...

Re: Does the Kai soundtrack make a big difference to you?
I think we knew that some of his music was similar, but no one realized that it was almost EXACTLY the same until he was put in charge of Kai's soundtrack. VegettoEX and Meri were aware of it years before Kai began. There's an old episode of the Kanzenshuu (then DaizenshuuEX) podcast from August 20...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Awesome!! Thanks to this i found the name of M118. Si Xing Qu Chase That's not the official name, just so you know. Most DragonBall/DBZ cues are only officially known by their M-numbers, so I came up with a bunch of unofficial names to make them easier to remember. The closest thing it has to a nam...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
So while making a collection of various short bits of DB music like eyecatches and title cards, I noticed that the DB title card cue listed on the site is incorrect. d2:14(a) actually seems to be a variant on the eyecatch music with a long gong sound at the end, which I'm not sure is actually used ...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Looking back at the unreleased cue from Curse of the Blood Rubies, I'm positive that the tracks "Departing The Island" and "Kame Sennin Speaks Of Friends" are actually both together one cue. Well, I don't know. There's a good number of spots in the DragonBall movies where the cu...

^Not only that, but given that some released tracks were never played in full, it's also quite possible some unreleased tracks were never played in full. Oh, of that I'm positive. On another note, are you going to do the Sumitomo stuff? It's definitely on my radar. And I'm not just saying this beca...

Re: Why is kikuchi bgm called MXXX M2XXXX?
I don't know who invented the practice of labeling music with M-numbers, but I'm sure I'd have to go way far back, probably to the beginnings of talkie/audio cinema. Maybe even earlier. It's not just a Japanese thing, though numbering conventions vary depending on the production. Film music cues - a...
