The DBZ Dragon Boxes and two volumes of Kai to mix-and-match my viewing experience.
I'll probably be getting those color manga sets eventually.

Re: Funimation's Inconsistent Handling
I always thought the replacement music, whether it was Levy's or Faulconer's, was mostly to "modernize" the show, and not so much because of royalties. I can't imagine paying for royalties for BGM would have been any more expensive than actually having new music produced by outside compose...

Re: Funimation's Inconsistent Handling
It's hard to peg what Funimation's handling of the franchise can be described as currently. On the one hand, they brought over the Dragon Boxes that catered mostly to the fans of the actual show and not their mutant version, and their more accurate, better acted Kai dub that was championed by Sabat ...

Re: Bruce Faulconer's Relationship With FUNimation
I hate to say this, but GT would have been better off with Faulconer.
Though it would have been better off just leaving alone.
Though it REALLY would have been better off not being made to begin with.

Re: Plothole in Dragonball Minus
No... plotholes in Minus? Seriously? What a staggering revelation. Akira Toriyama just isn't as familiar with his own work as he used to be. Almost nothing in Minus gels with the 42 volumes of the original DB manga, aside from Saiyans being a nasty alien race and Freeza being a thing. I generally op...

Re: Barry Watson vs Yukio Nagasaki - who "damaged" series mo
It's a gross exaggeration to characterize the placement of Kikuchi's music in Kai as "damaging", especially compared to the things Watson did in Funimation's DBZ English dub. There were plenty of episodes where the placement was fine, even rather good, and it certainly didn't spit on the m...

I'l probably sound stupid for asking but where on Earth is everyone outside of Japan watching this? You mean you didn't get the special implant that allows Japanese television to beam directly into your brain? I hear the newer ones filter out the energy drink commercials. Slightly misplacing beautifully composed music by Shunsuke Kikuchi a few times is not comparable to the things Barry Watson did.

Sure, let's run the Saiyan mythos into the ground even harder. Maybe Gine is also a time travelling Super Saiyan, maybe even the first true Super Saiyan God and only known female Super Saiyan, at such a level that she is actually a High God on the level with Beers. In fact, make it so that just befo...

Re: The Cell Saga Is The Lowest Rated Saga?
No, the thread was originally about how poor reading comprehension leads to thinking people in the Cell arc are out of character. After everybody tired of that and moved onto talking about Yamucha, as it was clear to all that the Cell arc is great.

Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
So, I've once again started my reviewing of Dragon Ball Kai. Upon a second and third watch, the episode seems a bit better than I was willing to give credit for on the first watching. Not that I disliked it then, I was just less comfortable with Sumitomo's score. It's still kind of "eh", b...

Re: Buu Saga Kai
I love the lyrics for the OP and ED. OP is very Cha-La Head Cha-La-ish. Especially "compare the size of our dreams", reminding me of "the emptier your head is, the more room there is to pack with dreams" (kids, remember to be as stupid as possible to have dreams).

I definitely notice the green tint now, but other than that, the footage looks fairly well done. It's definitely a step up from the current terrible Funimation remaster and looks cleaner than previous footage without seeming too washed out. When you say Funimation, your referring to their recent se...
