Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
It's unsettling to be reminded yet again that you can be healthy and (relatively) young and still die just because you seemingly-randomly bumped your head one day (at least, I'm assuming that's why a healthy-looking sexagenarian died of a hematoma). RIP. It's a shame he never got to see the conclusi...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Toriyama does say in his script that Freeza's army has powerful mercenaries so Krillin must have been fighting them. So? Sorbet castigates their army in general, not specific aspects of it, and none of the soldiers seem noticeably more powerful than any of the other soldiers. Those same guys KO the...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
I'm looking for opinions on this so how strong would you have these guys on the Mecha Freeza arc? Son Goku: -- Super Saiyan: Future Trunks: -- Super Saiyan: Freeza [Mecha]: King Cold: Vegeta: Piccolo: Son Gohan: Krillin: Tenshinhan: Yamcha: Chiaotzu: P.S. Using the official power levels (150 millio...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Kuririn knows how strong a post-Tao defeat Goku was(at least the level against Granpa Gohan). He really, really doesn't though. As I've laid out there's no indication that Goku was ever at full exertion at any point in that fight, and more importantly, no indication that anyone at this point can se...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Sounds more like Piccolo destroyed everything but the castle and it's immediate surrounding. I don't expect Toriyama to bother drawing an entire city in-scale, so unless Dragon Ball cities are meant to be much smaller than in real life, the King's statement is to clarify Piccolo indeed blew up a wh...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Random ass question: Is there any indication that anyone in the 22nd Budokai arc besides the two finalists and Roshi have surpassed Tao Paipai? Knowing that Tao was about on par with (but slightly inferior to) end-of-arc RRA Goku. I'd think Crane Hermit (power level of 120 given in Weekly Jump) and...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
What about Nappa? Nappa's kind of an enormous outlier, enhanced by the fact that this event is depicted completely differently in the anime. Later in that same fight, and even as late as the Freeza fight, we have fighters being awed by the power of... making a big hole in the ground. Not like a cit...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
So, with Oppenheimer in the spotlight, I was wondering when did the characters get atomic power at their disposal? Was Roshi destroying the moon already as strong as an atomic bomb? Piccolo Jr. blowing up the stage? Piccolo's makankosappo? And when did they become able to access that power casually...

Re: Dragon Ball and the "It gets good in about 85% of the way!" mentality
I think an hour and a half to two hours of your time is perfectly reasonable for getting an impression of something (except, I guess, many modern video games; on the other hand half that time is enough for a single movie). The "it gets good after X episodes" mentality never made sense to m...

A behind the scenes documentary of GT's production could be pretty interesting even though it's never going to get made. Amidst your speculation I have to wonder what the production team was thinking week to week.

Re: Has Dragon Ball used things from other materials?
It's worth noting that according to Torishima, Dragon Ball in large part exists in the form that it does because he called up Toriyama and essentially just said "make this like Fist of the North Star." T: You only need to read that much of Fist of the North Star to understand it. I didn’t ...

Re: Why are so many DB creators becoming subject to Toei's wrath?
I think this internet generation just became waaaaaaay too used to violating the law, to the point of having a severely warped perception of what the law actually is. We lived in a golden era where the internet was too obscure to be as widely policed as it is now. I'm not going to act like I'm above...

I'm a business analyst, which basically means I make spreadsheets. The pay is decent though and the company I'm at right now is remarkably laidback, which helps. I just finished my master's in business finance so I'm hoping to move higher soon, just started sending out applications.

Mr. Satan mournfully and dramatically declaring that Buu can't be saved, and apologizing for what he has to do... before pulling out an M1911 and blazing away at Super Buu, with a dumbstruck Dende watching in confusion. Then when Buu's blast gets deflected, Dende for a second looks like he almost be...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/25/21!)
My headcanon throughout the last few years has been that there was an internal rearrangement after Evil Buu ate that fat one, so that all of the Kaioshin influenced was shoved into Fat Buu for convenience. Thus, when Fat Buu was ripped out, only Pure Buu was left. As for the South Kaioshin, I though...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 10/25/21!)
I semi-ironically liked this arc due to a combination of the premise appealing to me and Kaio being a surprisingly consistent enjoyable character, even when he's in the background.

The art quality has cratered. It's still decent by fanfic standards, but the previous artist really spoiled us.

I really hope it doesn't come down to Goku vs Vegeta again. Goku vs Cell, Uub vs Cell, and Vegeta vs Uub all sound more interesting.
