Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
I've spent all day with my little boy watching Dragonball Z. Dragonball has been such a formative part of my life that even when I've not been actively engaging with the franchise it has, in a way, always been with me. I'm a middle-aged man now with a career and a family, but since hearing the news ...

Re: Kirby Morrow, Third Canadian Voice of Goku, Passes Away
It's my first time back out of the abyss for a few years, but hearing about this really got to me. The Westwood dub was a chaos. Everything from the relentless production schedule, the revolving door of acting talent, and the 'off-the-shelf' MegaMan replacement score was the antithesis of what you'd...

Re: Funimation Leaked Outtakes
There seems to be some sorta hypocrisy here, as they fired Vic Mignogna without a solid proof, yet jokes that might seem offensive to some is considered ok... like this is obviously concern trolling but what would the hypocrisy even be here ? like normally when vic defenders bring up the "hypo...

Re: Funimation Leaked Outtakes
I think that it's quite naive to assume that fraternity humour doesn't exist behind closed-doors, and that sometimes, people say and satirise certain things that are inherently inappropriate for a public airing, but in doing so are aware that their behaviour is not aimed at anyone, nor designed to c...

Re: Who hates Goku the most?
Who hates Goku? Nobody. Well, so long as he is given time to change their heart (little by little). That's how the Shonen hero trope works, right? His carefree, earnest nature wins over everyone in the end. A lot of people are saying Freeza - but let's just wait and see how this current arc of Super...

I know that Freeza did mental-training in Hell and all, but I still think Hit is much stronger than him. I mean, can you imagine Freeza managing to challenge Jiren as Hit did? I'm not so sure.Bullza wrote: 7. Golden Frieza

Re: Top 10 out of 80 ToP fighters
Here goes: 1) Jiren - This one's easy - he's the current 'wall' to surpass. 2) Ultra Instinct 'The Omen' Goku - He's the only one who has given Jiren any real hassle so far. 3) Kefla - Even Broli Kale gave Super Saiyan Blue Goku a good beating, and this is the only fighter apart from Jiren to awaken...

Re: Akira Toriyama named in Paradise Papers leak
Is it really shocking that a man as carefree and forgetful as Toriyama could end up in a bind like this?

I'm a Learning Technologist at a Russell Group University. Specifcally by job-title I'm the 'Lecture Capture Coordinator', which essentially means that I oversee and service-manage the University's timetabled lecture recording operation.

Re: Are there people that actually hate the Vegeta's Hells Bells music?
Or a re-contextualised (Barry Watson era Funimation preferred 're-versioned', I believe) product for a new market. Frankly, I think that's giving FUNimation's product far too much credit. Essentially, you're entrusting borderline amateur Americans with no real context for the series (as they've oft...

Re: Are there people that actually hate the Vegeta's Hells Bells music?
When you strip out part of that and plop in an entirely different culture's musical aesthetic from after its creation, you wind up with a disjointed product out of time with no identity of its own. Or a re-contextualised (Barry Watson era Funimation preferred 're-versioned', I believe) product for ...

Re: FUNimation dub of Dragon Ball Super Officially Confirmed
No more Blue Popo, please. I think that level of censorship is acceptable for pre-watershed broadcast. Whether intended or not, the likeness may carry an offensive racial connotation when viewed by Western audiences. We know that Popo is a genie, the casual everyman probably doesn't. https://en.wik...

Man, I love Toyotaro's version of God-tube. A crystal-ball on a wind-up typewriter is such a fun idea.

Which was lovely, but sort of hard to understand given that it's the only episode they've tweaked in two whole boxes - and it was by no means the worst to begin with. But meh, I guess Shimanuki(?) must have felt so strongly about his work that he stuck his neck out and opted-in to make corrections....

Does anybody know If corrections were made in the bluray version of episodes 26 and 27? Only 25 received corrections. Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I'm looking for someone who will be attending San Diego Comic Con and will be willing to procure me an exclusive S.H. Figuarts Broly. Of course, it goes without saying that I'll cover the full costs of the item and the shipping - but I'm also very...

Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2" Official Discussion Thread
I've got a reaaaaally cynical feeling that the more recent stuff from Super (Universe 6, Goku Black) will probably be tacked on as paid-for DLC content to maintain a longer interest cycle in after release. I imagine that we'll probably get a proper RoF arc, though. The DLC for that in Xenoverse was ...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So does anybody know what caused Toei to finally end GT where it was? Did the Japanese fanbase not take to it and were sales/ratings down? I would love an answer from someone knowledgeable like Kanzenshuu staff on this. I'd imagine it was a mix of both, but was there a big backlash and if so, when ...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Does anyone know how much money is funnelled from BN's profits to Toei animation/production budget? I can say with confidence that it's not proportional: as in, if the Dragonball merchandise license pulls in more money than expected for Bandai Namco, then there isn't going to be a knock-on effect o...
