Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...
Maybe he was giving an estimate, but we know it took at least 2 and a half years, most likely more than that. Production began mid-2000 (you can check Daizenshuu EX's old news updates from that time using the Internet Archive website to verify, since they posted a news story about Brian Drummond sa...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...
No English VA has ever been perfect for Goku. Maybe Ocean can find somebody who is. See Peter Kelamis in DBZ movie 2 for as close to an English Nozawa as you're ever going to get. Under the right direction, Kelamis has the most fitting English voice for the character. It'd be great if they could so...

Re: Schemmel: "The Ocean Group is doing their own dub"
At least the actors at FUNimation were putting in good, solid performances,   Sure, sure. I was riveted by Tiffany Vollmer's amazing performance as Bulma. She was one of three FUNi voices that annoyed me the most. Thankfully, two of them are being replaced for Kai. The new Kai Bulma...

Re: Schemmel: "The Ocean Group is doing their own dub"
Ok, while I'll entire agree with you that it's none of the casts fault, it's incredibly unfair to start bashing Sabat like that. Sabat IS a veteran now, he's a talented and complex actor, he cares a lot about the series, and I actually prefer his acting and performance in DBZ than McNeil and Drummm...

Re: Schemmel: "The Ocean Group is doing their own dub"
Ocean did treat the series like shit Funimation produced the first dub. They were calling the shots. It was them treating the series like shit. And when they started doing things themselves? They still treated it like shit. Funimation has, up until recently, treated the series like shit. It's not O...

Re: Schemmel: "The Ocean Group is doing their own dub"
Funny, the site says Dave Ward voiced Kame-sen'nin. Was this only for the films? Dave Ward never did voice Roshi. That was an old error from years ago that stuck around. Don Brown voiced Roshi in movies 1-3. Clearly, I know Jeremiah Yurk (as you know from Westwood's DBGT) will do Kai soon enough. H...

Re: Schemmel: "The Ocean Group is doing their own dub"
I've seen a couple people mention how the Ocean dub used recycled music from Mega Man. Did that dub have any original music and did it take any music from anything else? Does anybody have any YouTube links to music from other shows that made it into the dub? Yes, the Ocean dub did eventually have s...

Re: Top 5 Romantic Moments in DB That Never Actually Happened
Argh, sorry Dark Vegeta-Sama, but your post was accidentally deleted. So I'm quoting it here for posterity. Either 9 or 10 at the start. Whichever you believe to be correct. I believe some error was made which doesn't set her age in cement or something. Likewise Bra is either 9 or 10 dependi...

Re: What have the American/UK Dubs... DONE RIGHT?
Years later, the blatant errors stated in the original FUNi/Ocean dub (like Bardock being a brilliant scientist) are pretty hilarious and entertaining.
Even the "next dimension" stuff is awesome just for the entertainment value.

Re: Splicing the Orange Brick dub track onto the Dragon Boxes?
Plus there's the issue if you want Sabat's redub of Vegeta and Brice Armstrong's Ginyu with Faulconer music or classic Sabat Vegeta and Dale Kelley Ginyu. It'd be hilarious to go from watching Sabat's redubbed Vegeta voice up until episode 67 to Sabat's original season 3 Vegeta voice in episode 68....

I live in Canada, but I'm not going to post things that have already been posted: DragonBall Z Movies 1-3 (Ocean) None of the other DragonBall Z, or DragonBall movies aired on YTV. Nor did the GT tv special. None of which were dubbed in Canada. I also have heard some people say that YTV did air the...

How do you know this?! Lol. Several years ago, at the time in which the show was originally airing (so for the Ocean dub, we're talking 2001-2003), there was a website devoted to the Ocean dub called UK Dragonball. The guys who ran that site were the ones who were able to find the most information ...

That does make a lot of sense and fits in perfectly with the fragments of the overall picture that I was previously aware of. Although, one thing which I've heard on more than one occasion is that both the Ocean Dub and the Funimation Dub used pretty much the exact same English scripts, so I always...

I'm from the UK, and if memory serves correctly the English dubs which our various incarnations of Toonami aired were shown in this order: Dragonball Z: Saiyan/Namek Saga - Saban/Funimation Dub Freeza - Trunks Saga - Funimation Dub Android - Majin Buu Saga - Ocean Group Dub Fusion Saga - Funimation...
