Re: Your ONE favorite character and your ONE favorite version of him/her
Gohan pre-Cell Games though I still love Cell Games Gohan as well. If I had to pick a favorite one though, it’s definitely Movie 9 Gohan: continuing to train, still studies and takes it upon himself to protect people. I’ve always been a sucker for Gohan in his father’s colors.

Re: Reviving those who died in the Saiyan Genocide.
Depends on what type of succession they use. It seems most people are assuming Primogeniture or eldest male heir which is certainly the norm throughout history. In this case, if Vegeta and Tarble refused or were not allowed due their marriage (and I’m assuming Trunks would be considered illegitimate...

Re: Saiyan Family and Friends
I’m aware of the statement that Saiyans don’t really have a concept of family but I’ve never agreed with it. I can certainly see that kind of thinking reflected post Buu and onward but truthfully before the 7 year gap, I don’t see it, either in the manga or the anime. Goku isn’t going to win parent ...

Re: Is Dragon Ball Your Favorite Anime Ever?
Its definitely one of my favorites but I’m not sure if I would call it my absolute favorite. I’m actually pretty choosy with anime and for some reason, a lot of the newer ones just don’t do it for me. I still love Sailor Moon and Inuyasha...Inuyasha is probably my all time favorite as of right now a...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
A person who is revived will remember the traumatic experience of death and that's a consequence. If only we saw any hint that this happens. I don't think any of the characters that died ever suffered while dying. I think most of them were instant. Not sure what would be traumatic. Well, if we’re g...

Re: Saiyan Tails
I always preferred the Saiyans with the tails. Not sure why, I just like it better. One of my favorite images is the very end of GT's final ending with a grown Goku with his tail and the power pole. I guess it would get annoying to keep drawing the tails but I think it's a shame they dropped them

Re: Do you still care about the end of Z?
I’ve never been a huge fan of Z’s Ending. Do I think they’ll change it? Probably not but I wouldn’t be opposed if they did. Granted, the ending with Uub can still work but I think a new ending would get rid of the post-TOP questions (how is Uub a challenge for Goku now, etc) Not saying those questio...

Re: Do you still think Gohan should've been the main character?
Yes, I include filler. When I consider the anime, I consider everything in that medium which includes filler. I know some people don’t but that’s just me. Ultimately I think of Toriyama wanted to me to believe Gohan truly wanted to be scholar, I needed to see more love of it than we got. As is, it f...

Re: Do you still think Gohan should've been the main character?
I don’t think we’re dropping context. I just think we interpretted scenes and reasoning differently. I personally always follow the anime so I consider everything included in that medium. Gohan ditches his studies a lot and not just when enemies are coming. He doesn’t present as some one that loves ...

Re: Do you still think Gohan should've been the main character?
Those quotes don't negate my point. Gohan wasn't working as the lead in a fighting series given Toriyama realized Gohan wanted to study more than fight. Which is his own fault for changing his character in the Buu arc. Gohan pre Buu was in fact a fighter, his motivations were his friends but he fre...

Re: What Would Be The Greatest Blow To A Saiyan's Pride?
I’m going to take a hint from DBO and say: growing old. Specifically, aging past their prime so that they cannot grow any stronger. In fact, they grow weaker despite their best efforts simply due to the betrayal of their body. Hence, most go for a final fight before their decline to go out “still on...

Re: One handed kamehameha
I'd agree that I think it helps to focus the concentration of ki. I think the concept of Gohan doing it one handed might also be significant in that we don't know how long he's known the Kamehameha at this point. We've seen him use standard blasts and the masenko but I'm not sure when he learned it ...

Re: Toei poll "Favorite Dragon Ball Movie of All Time"
I’ve always had a soft spot for DBZ Movies 1-3 and 5. I like some of the latter movies as well, including Movie 9, 12 and 13 but the early ones have always been my favorites. Movie 1 has some of the best fight scenes and I love that it’s more martial arts based as opposed to ki blast vs ki blast. It...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?
I just don't care about the idea of him. Pan's relationship with her grandfather and vice versa is much more interesting to me. Agreed, honestly. I don't see what's wrong with Oob just being the guy who Goku taught for a few years, who shows up from time to time, mostly for his interaction with Mr....

Re: Dub Changes That Don't Bother You...that much
. The commentary for DBZ movie 1 even has them remark “how many times do you think Gohan says the word “Daddy” in the series?” Which I thought was interesting commentary. Considering how common it is for little kids around Gohan’s age in the Saiyan and Namek saga to refer to their dads as daddy I n...

Re: Dub Changes That Don't Bother You...that much
Another change that I think is relatively minor but I ended up loving how it played out: in the original FUNimation dub, they translated “Otou-san” differently depending on the character/circumstance (I’m sure fitting mouth flaps likely had something to do with it): Kai seems to translate it as “Fat...

I’ve always preferred Goku’s speech about “having lost our old race” and “let’s not lose our new one too” just prior to fusing with Vegeta.

Re: Why were Goten and Trunk given less attention to Gohan with regards to their strength
A popular theory I’ve heard thrown around which actually makes some sense to me is: Half Saiyans without tails start with a huge burst of power then taper off as they age. Half Saiyans with tails take longer to gain power but can pursue it longer. Whether there is any truth to that is up to opinion....

Re: Lore and World Building
Tolkien's mixed. His books have WAY too much lore and world building. I don't need 30 pages of backstory on the ring before telling me it needs to be destroyed, nor do Tom Bombadil and Old Man Willow add anything to the story. I like enough world building to get the sense that characters and world ...

Re: Overall Would You Say The Dragonball Fandom Is Positive Or Negative Compared To Other Fandoms?
You know, while in general, taking in all the different avenues, I would agree and say it can dip into the negative. However, I truly think a lot of this has more to do with the anonymity of hiding behind a keyboard than anything else. People can be a lot meaner, a lot crueler and lot cruder when th...
