Re: How would you change power levels in the series?

I'd make small gaps in numbers enough to overpower an enemy, like when with a battle power of 24,000 to Kewi's 18,000 Vegeta easily killed him. From there I'd just explain in dialogue that ki control got so good that they could concentrate mountain destroying jabs only on their foes.

Re: It's Time to do a (New) Dragon Ball Live-action Movie

I don't see how a live action movie can do anything good for Dragon Ball. It's already artistically and commercially legitimate enough as it is even without the three live action films already to its name.

Re: Why hasn't Toriyama paid his taxes yet?

It's pretty amazing to me as someone who only just discovered in the past year or so that our political system--heck, our 'thought system'--is such a façade. I used to think like so many of us that there was only GOP and Democrat but in the past year I've learned that the Democrats aren't even reall...

Re: Piccolo needs a new power-up

Naw, let's focus on new characters. Piccolo's had thirty years to be a 'current' character, I want to focus on something new or something old that is done in an unexpected way.

Or whatever Toriyama feels like.

Re: Why hasn't Toriyama paid his taxes yet?

And hey, since we're all off topic anyway I suggest checking out Kyle Kulinski (Secular Talk), Jimmy Dore and Thom Hartmann (The Thom Hartmann Program and The Big Picture) on YouTube. I now get all of my news from their podcasts and they've really taught me how to read through the bullshit of mainst...

Thank you, that too. Notice how they've been trying to weaken the estate tax in the US recently. It's crazy.

Re: Should the retellings have just chopped the movies into episodes?

I do agree that the movies were adapting a little too long. It's hard to turn that Beers movie into even six episodes, let alone fourteen. I wish they had done more peace-time episodes before jumping into adapting the movie so that the actual adaption could've been shorter. The Golden Freeza arc sho...

Re: Why hasn't Toriyama paid his taxes yet?

Boy, I sure love Dragon Ball . Taxes should be progressive--the more ypu earn the more you pay. That's not a fair system in any way. With a flat tax, everyone is treated equally, and the more you earn, the more you pay. It's fair, because it's the same percentage for everyone. You are taxed porporti...

Re: Official "DB Super 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread

Freeza killing all those men nobody was invested in sure was dramatic (not really). I love the hilarious ending of Fukkatsu no F as much as the next guy but the film obviously needed a better director to push the dramatic energy of the film further. The last two films have basically been directed b...

Re: Should the retellings have just chopped the movies into episodes?

Toriyama: "Please retell the last two movies in the TV series." Production Committee: "Yeah, do that, by the way you only have three months to produce your first episode." Chioka: "Uh...I'm still storyboarding World Trigger Episode #35 and we need more than three months to p...

Re: Why hasn't Toriyama paid his taxes yet?

Anyone who knows how society works knows that unless the wealthy carry the tax burden the working class will suffer and society eill collapse. That's a somewhat perverse view of how a society should function. It's not up to a selected few to pay taxes for everyone. If taxes are to exist (and they d...

Re: Should the retellings have just chopped the movies into episodes?

Retelling the movies was a good idea. The problem is that they were done with no time for the staff to properly develop a vision for those arcs. Why not just air the movies instead? The new Naruto material is re-telling the Boruto movie again after the manga already did it. Is this just a Japan thi...

Re: Why hasn't Toriyama paid his taxes yet?

Please stop bringing up Al Capone. They took him down on tax evasion because that's all they could get him on. Tax evasion, if he did in fact do so, isn't the same as being a mob boss. No, but it is scummy. Anyone who knows how society works knows that unless the wealthy carry the tax burden the wo...

Re: Should the retellings have just chopped the movies into episodes?

It wouldn't have been possible because the rights of the movies belonged to more than just Shueisha, Fuji TV and Toei Animation. Reanimating from scratch let them cut out certain unnecessary partners, such as Fox. Does it mean that if they leave Fox out of the upcoming movie it will be possible for...

Re: What do you wish was done differently now that Super is over?

All of my issues are on the production side. Here's what I would've wanted. Some things are much more realistic than others. -sufficient pre-production -"seasons" rather than a continuously running serial -adaptation of Toyotaro's DBS manga -Shunsuke Kikuchi as the series musical composer...

Re: Dragon Ball Movie 20 - Animation Hub

I have a feeling that once DB comes back as a weekly series, we’ll get more movies frequently. When DB was airing, we got 2 movies a year. I don’t think it will be ask much but maybe we’ll get a movie a year while db is still airing. Those days are over. Dragon Ball Z suffered during the production...
