Re: Why did the Saiyans need Goku?
Which is a little funny, since baby Goku would have only had a battle power of 20 as an Oozaru. If he went on a rampage that reached civilization, the Royal military would probably have chunked a misile at him and knocked him out, if it didn't kill him, and have their own baby saiyan for research.

Re: Orin Temple Monks
Being at peak human condition should be enough to tank a few bullets, as do Roshi and Kuririn. Goku's head is apparently the hardest object in the universe next to stuff made from kachin. :P The Orin Temple Monks could probably beat Mr. Satan and start-of-series Yamcha, is I guess what I'm saying. S...

Re: Why didn't Goku use the Shunkan Ido to get to Earth?
I kinda like the stasus theory, though I kinda think it might delay Goku a little, but not the whole 3 hours (I have to doubt the Z-senshi could survive Freeza for 3 hours without any casualties. Then again, how long did the various phases of the fight with Freeza on Namek last?). I mean, at the bar...

Re: Goten, Trunks and Android 18.
Yikes. Is it safe to say, then, that there are no straight-up facts one way or the other? The most compelling evidence would be whether Piccolo's reaction meant they were stronger than him, or if Goku's statements mean the strongest absorbee is dominant in Buu's appearance... and both of those are q...

Re: Why didn't Goku use the Shunkan Ido to get to Earth?
The issue isn't so much why Goku didn't step in against Freeza... ... Why didn't he just teleport to Earth the instant he was close enough to pick up on a familiar ki? Take Freeza out of the equation entirely. My conclusion is that Goku's understanding of the stress his absence put on his friends an...

Re: DNA's Filler Arc analysis
I'd like the Wedding Dress next, myself. I like the concepts in the Garlic Jr arc... it just took soooo long... T.T I'm still confused as to why I like the tournament part of the Afterlife Tournament arc so much. Or Paikuhan and Olibu's fights, to be more specific. I guess they really are that aweso...

Well, keep in mind that Toyble seems to use a lot of tracing, so stylistic similarities are to be expected.

Re: DBZ Arc Formula
True, true. Goku went along with it for about the same reasons as Vegeta. I mention Vegeta mostly because he's the only one who would have been a serious obstacle to anyone who wanted to carry out a preemptive strike. Goku or T'en might have tried to talk someone like Gohan or Bulma out of it, but V...

Re: Are souls in Dragonball made up of ki energy?
Actually, Ginyu's aims in switching bodies seem to be based on gaining battle power. Is what Uub has the same as battle power? Ginyu's trick didn't work with Goku. Maybe it worked on races that thought of battle powers like Freeza's men--a (typically static) body stat that clearly lays out one's com...

Re: Fan Confessions?
I once came close to convincing my school's DBZ guru (this was seventh grade) that my fanfics were part of a new anime. The only clue I got that he doubted at all came when I slipped up about where I'd gotten them from (I had forgotten I'd told him one place, and then said a different one...). This ...

DBZ Arc Formula
So, while thinking about some issues I had with the storytelling in the Cell arc, I noticed that each major arc in DBZ follows this formula. This isn't quite like the "for the whole series" formula I posted on... years ago, and really seems easier to just plug values into to generate a new...

Re: How did the Kaioken X4 not obliterate Vegeta?
It's almost like flat numerical comparisons aren't the be-all and end-all of fighting. I think I love you. :) Piccolo says effectively the same thing to #20, having demonstrated it time and time again before then. But if we must get mathy, think about stuff like body composition (Saibamen look like...

Re: The Fan Theories
Hm, I don't have anything canon to add, but since the title is fan theories... - Tails being recessive requires multiple genes, or ChiChi being a saiyan. I would go with multiple genes, myself. - I don't like Toriyama's explanation, but I know that if someone rejected what I said about something I w...

Cooler was Shredder! Then he was Bane! Then Toriyama and Dinosaurs and balls and OMPanda that whole sequence was awesome! Poor Ickerus. :( Also, I had to do a doubletake on "Qu'est-ce que fuck?" I like how you went the extra mile to make French Sauza more French. I would say it makes me ha...

Re: DragonBall GT Revised [fanfic]
Hehehehe. I hope that Goku gets familiar enough with Regano's ki to make it possible to drop in to see him frequently. Heck, I could actually see it being possible, via teleportation alone, to put off this decision for a while (possibly resulting in some baddy swooping in to screw it all up). I expe...

Pure-blooded SSJ... requires death?
This is probably just a coincidence (Toriyama doesn't typically keep quiet about things like this), but the only pure-blooded SSJs we see are Goku and Vegeta, who both die and get resurrected before they transform. Meanwhile, none of the halfbreeds died before transforming (*tries to pretend the par...

Re: Why didn't Goku just fetch the Dragon radar himself?
This is starting to make it sound like Goku is getting addicted to experiencing death,. And he wants to get everyone else to try some, but he still has moral objections to killing people for the lulz. But he's more addicted to fighting, of course. ... o.o I think I've just thought of the worst...

I like to think he got them training with swords with Yajirobe, hence, we never see Yamcha with weapons again from the 23rd tournament onward.
