Re: Whose Voices Do You Hear When Reading the Manga?
I mostly "hear" the Japanese cast, miraculously speaking perfectly fluent English. In some cases a dub actor may slip their way in when they were actually well-cast and rocked the part, like Chris Ayres as Freeza.

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
I totally get the "Earthlings always managed to match Goku in the following arc(s)" angle, but that usually only applied to training-based improvements. They wouldn't be able to match things like the ridiculous Saiyan-exclusive healing boosts Goku reaped during the Namek arc, and I doubt t...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
What if we could make the most consistent list ever though, wouldn't that be cool and fun? No, it sounds overly rigid, creatively limiting, and not at all fun. Everyone cares about them to an extent, otherwise we'd have characters separated from each other by 1 unit . Sometimes we do. Son Gohan (Ba...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
There are helpful forms of artistic feedback for power level lists, but "that gap is too [big/small]" isn't one of them. IF someone wants to keep a certain amount of internal consistency for their own list, then sure. But there is no universally "most correct" way to go about it....

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Generally, people would like to remain logical and consistent. Yes, but everybody has different standards and attitudes about what that means. Which is fine because none of this is particularly consistent in the first place, even in the original story itself. This thread is in the "Fan-Created...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
There are no hardline rules for that sort of thing, especially not ones that can be imposed on other people's made-up power levels.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
"Canon" basically hasn't mattered since... well really never, in the long run. But it especially hasn't mattered since Super started running two separate, concurrent, narratively-incompatible versions of itself while everyone tried to act like they were somehow both the "one true 'can...

Re: SSj Grade 4 power - old and new arguments
I don't even know where "grade 4" came from. It comes from the animanga adaptation of the Trunks special (I think?) . It had some guidebook-like sections within it, one part of which had a breakdown of the different Super Saiyan forms. It called the mastered version of regular Super Saiya...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Honestly, I would think that Goku and Vegeta being direct rivals just makes them even more similar and a better match for Fusion. Their competition for strength gives them a shared mindset of "I'm gonna be the strongest, stronger than this other guy," which kind of results in a yin-yang re...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
I don't think any method of Fusion is all that formulaic or predictable. I believe the results can vary a lot depending on how compatible the two individuals are, mostly boiling down to how similar they are in physiology, power level, mindset/personality, etc. You don't NEED to be similar in body an...

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Well I forgot that li'l nuBroli in the new movie also measured at "only" 900-something himself, instead of his original Z self's 10,000 at birth... so I guess nuBardock wasn't the only nerfed character. Still doesn't really say anything about King Vegeta though.

Re: Official Unofficial Power Level Discussion Thread
Still somewhere up around 10,000, I'd think. From what I can tell, nuBardock is the only character who's presumably had his power level nerfed in the various lousy new material.

Re: Would you enjoy a midquel?
If I ever manage to regain any shred of confidence in new DB material being good, then I'd much rather get as far away from the original-run time period as possible (especially the modern "revival" material) , and see a distant-past prequel or far-future sequel. Give us a post-GT miniserie...

Re: SSj Grade 4 power - old and new arguments
I think that a Mastered/Grade-4 Super Saiyan does have the ability to tap into the "beyond Super Saiyan" power reserves of Grades 2 and 3, although with much better control and efficiency.
It's called "Super Saiyan 2."

Re: What's the deal with "FPSSJ3"? - one of the most enduring misconceptions in the community
The only way I suspect that FP/Mastered Super Saiyan might be "stronger" than the Grades is in the attack amplification department. It'd stand to reason that being more relaxed and having better control over your power may allow you to channel it more effectively and put more "oomph&q...

Re: Why was Gohan only slightly above Kuririn after Saichoro's release of dormant power?
Come to think of it, there was a gap of almost 4 days from when Kuririn got his power-up until Gohan got his. So assuming that they do have a cumulative effect over time, the 13k and 14k numbers could just show that Gohan's "immediate" unlocked power was already almost as strong as Kuririn...
