Re: Shunsuke Kikuchi has passed away
I knew this would happen in the near future, but I shed tears when I first saw this news on my phone. Requiescat in pace, legenda.

Re: Missing Frames in Japanese Dragon Boxes?
I noticed this when I was editing the Level Set footage. Probably they simply messed up the editing.

If you were a billionaire and able to pay all the costs by yourself, it'd be 100% possible.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased
Moreover, with the quick pace of Kai and the very different edits in contrast to how the content was originally presented in Z , Kikuchi's score was never intended to be paired with it. His musical style is meant to go with the slower pace of Z . I never understand this "the Kikuchi score does...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but there's an update on this topic. The HVC1 (H.265) version is now available on Amazon JP, and it's got better image quality. This must be the best source available so far. https://imgsli.com/NDQ0ODg https://imgsli.com/NDQ0ODk Video ID: 1 Format: HEVC Format/Info...

I'm providing them with a lot of film reels from my collection including Dr. Slump and non-Toriyama related anime, so there's more coming soon. Now that is king-like behavior right there. What episodes of DB do you have/did you send if you don't mind me asking? You have a Z episode right? Speaking ...

Re: Curse of the blood rubbie rare dub
Toei's Laser Disc release has no Dolby Digital audio on it, though. It's got only Linear PCM and analog FM tracks. In the first place, logically there's no reason for it to have AC-3 audio which was only used for movies screened with Dolby Digital Surround audio at theaters. They must've got someth...

It's YouTube compression YouTube's video compression does not change the aspect ratio and frame rate. It's just that the uploader didn't know what they were doing. https://i.slow.pics/DUbXs3HI.png https://i.slow.pics/nkVtBDaL.png Here are some raw screenshots from his Laser Disc transfer of Dragon ...

I am the top bidder right now, I have a professional digitization set up, and plan to preserve the video and the tapes hi-fi audio. I also have plans to do a restoration using the hd footage and this audio if I win the tape. I dont want to say too much and break the rules but yes these would be 're...

Re: Where did the "Kuh-May-Uh-May-Uh" pronunciation come from?
As a native Japanese speaker, I'm not annoyed by this kind of "mispronunciations" because it's not really different from Final Flash being pronounced as "Fainaru Furasshu" in the original Japanese version. I'd be happy if they respected the original Japanese pronunciations more, ...

Re: What are the odds of us getting 4:3 Blu-rays of the Bardock/Trunks specials?
Incidentally, the DBZ dubs in India use separate music and SFX tracks that sound far better than Funi's although they seem to have imported the series from the US. I have no idea where they got their M&Es from. Sorry replying to myself for an off-topic supplement, but here's evidence that India...

Re: What are the odds of us getting 4:3 Blu-rays of the Bardock/Trunks specials?
Yes, I found this "Latin American tapes" thing quite suspect too, but I've never seen the Cloverway transfers myself to compare them to Funi's, so I was unable to really confirm it either way. Glad to have it definitively stated that they look nothing alike. They are different in multiple...

Re: What are the odds of us getting 4:3 Blu-rays of the Bardock/Trunks specials?
It is possible Funi switched to getting tapes from Latin America starting from the move in-house in 1999, but this is simply not known, and since Funi clearly had film masters of all of Z and all the movies in 2008, it would logically make a lot of sense if these weren't new acquisitions, but inste...

Re: How many versions/dubs aired on YTV?
The main difference between the Funimation version airing in the US & UK and the Ocean version airing on YTV is that Ocean often chose different takes or alternate dialougue for various scenes; one famous example being "Don't piss off the god of love" , which was uncensored in the Fun...

1. Have you ever heard of any other English versions that predate the HG dub like the Frontier Enterprises dub? 2. What did you honestly think when the DB franchise gained great success long after the HG dub was cancelled? 3. Did you like the show when you were directing it? 4. Did you listen to the...

The Arabic dub of Future Boy Conan was produced by a company located in Qatar.Cure Dragon 255 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 1:06 pm Is there any other anime dubbing company in Arab territory? Re: Obscure dubs
You should not call something "obscure" when it's only alien to the English-speaking world. It is an expression of ethnocentricity. That being said, the most "obscure" existence among DB dubs must be the Cambodian version. The only source I've ever found was a blog post made by a...
