Re: Fist of the North Star and Dragonball

As already said in the above posts, Torishima used Hokuto no Ken as a reference, and there must have been a big influence on Toriyama as well. However, speaking of Raoh's technique that is occasionally considered to be the idea source of Kamehameha, initially it was actually more of a kiai sort of t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Anyways, the art was phenomenal all throughout this chapter but I too am not a big fan of the last Goku thumbs up panel. I like how Goku gently smiles and doesn't show his teeth in the Buu arc. It shows his mental matureness and self-assurance that match his age. It's sad that in Super, his express...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

It's not just the angle, the panel is cut at exactly the same part as the anime version. Body scratches right above his nipple in both versions, the three face scratches are in the same position too (both cheeks and forehead) I would really be surprised if this Goku was drawn from a blank page. Whe...

Re: I think its time to admit that Toyotaro is a terrible writer.

Even if a cool new technique is introduced or a surprising guest appears, it doesn't compensate the fact that the arc was 99% driven by uninteresting villains invoking deja vu. It doesn't magically justify the the entire story arc. To me, Toyotaro still sucks as both a writer and artist. Moro was su...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Except theres nothing anatomically incorrect about this shoulder/arm. Theres this thing called moving your shoulders from a neutral position when gesturing a thumbs up. Having consulted all of my actual professional artist mutuals, since I hardly trust myself 100%, none of them found anything parti...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Not only is this correction wrong and improves nothing, but Toriyama is like... near famous at this point for his litany of anatomical mistakes. I mean dont get me wrong, Toriyama is a much more accomplished artist than Toyotaro, and Toyo has a laundry list of artistic failings. But running around ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Toyotaro has drawn thousands of pages of this manga until now and still doesn't even know how to draw human bodies properly. What a great successor.

Re: A very rare DB opening and ending instrumental

Yes, there is a drama cassette for DBZ Movie 1 and all the evidence points to the album being in stereo. When the cover says "stereo," it doesn't automatically mean that all the tracks are stereo. The score of DBZ movie 1 was mixed only in mono, so I don't expect a stereo mix of the movie...

Re: A very rare DB opening and ending instrumental

Wow, nice find! Since it's Nippon Columbia themselves, they had access to the original karaoke and overdubbed the melodies on it. By the way, your site is interesting to read. I didn't know that a drama cassette of DBZ movie 1 ever existed. I wonder whether it's got any differences compared to the o...

Considering that it's not Shueisha themselves and the domain was bought later than the one with one extra hyphen, my guess is that they got it solely for a redirect use.

Re: Did episode 98 ever air in japan?

Episode 98 was aired on Fuji TV Two in 2015. Other than that, I'm not aware of any instances. why didn't any1 report this? That is because Fuji TV Two is a channel only available in pay satellite/cable television services that aren't very common in Japan. The episode was already officially availabl...

Re: Toyble's AF

It's pretty silly in my opinion to go after small time creators like this, there's the argument that it could "cause confusion between official and fanmade products" but I'm not sure I completely buy that. In the above-mentioned case of Doraemon, the author printed over ten thousand of co...

Re: Toyble's AF

It doesn't matter that AF was unofficial, doujinshi are fan manga and are frequently sold. It's just part of Japanese culture, companies don't tend to mind as, while they're a legal grey area, they don't (usually) make massive amounts of money and can serve to promote series They did mind in the ca...

To be precise, Funi's DVD releases of DB movie 2 do have a 5.1ch track, which actually is NOT properly mixed in 5.1ch.

Re: Unanimated manga material?

In the manga, Chichi searches around the house for the medicine when Goku is brought into his home by Yamcha in reaction to his heart attack. This was cut out in the anime in which Yamcha just quickly brings him the medicine even though it could have been useful for filler like when Trunks keeps roo...

Re: Unanimated manga material?

The conversation between Zarbon and Vegeta about Freeza's ability of transformation was omitted in the anime for some reason, so Vegeta refers to it during the fight against Freeza out of nowhere. It could be easily added by recycling other conversation shots when they produced Kai, but they're not ...

Re: Can someone explain to me this score removal in the "Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle" dubs?

And yes I remember of M424EXT and the Insert songs being muted in my native dub, this happened with the complete PT-BR dub of OG DB and in Z (with the only exceptions being Tamashii vs Tamashii, and Tenkaichi Gohan and Piccolo San Daisuki in Movies 1 and 2) I never thought about it, again, thanks a...

TheMikado wrote: Wed Oct 14, 2020 7:10 am So why aren’t we blaming Toriyama?
That is because it does look like Toyotaro started to take more control of the overall production from the current story arc and things got worse and helplessly fan comic-esque.

Re: I think its time to admit that Toyotaro is a terrible writer.

What he's been doing in the current arc is nothing but restaging his favorite moments from the original manga by using his own characters. It's like seeing his public masturbation as a fanboy published officially, which I'm not interested in by any means. It seems that he doesn't care about creating...
