Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

Don't take this the wrong way, but exactly how good are you at judging accents? Because Ayres' voice for him certainly is not American. I dunno, how good are you? Smug or posh does not mean British. His r's and vowel sounds are all standard American as opposed to received pronunciation and he's cer...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters" FUNimation English Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread

I think Chris Sabat forgot his Karin voice. I didn't really like the old voice, but why change it now? Might as well be consistent. Other than that, it was a pretty good episode. This is pretty much how Karin sounded back at the beginning of Kai too. It's jarring compared to every other time Chris ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

It's the reason Ayres essentially copies his voice for his portrayal. I was with you until this gem right here. Why do you think he copied LK? 1. Chris Sabat, & many other FUNi staff members for that matter, are fans of TFS, so much that there are a few little references to them throughout the ...

Re: Did Roshi know about Goku's tail being a weakness?

He didn't seem to know in the first tournament. Yamcha tries to tell him about it, but he goes with blowing up the moon instead.

I suppose it's possible Gohan could have told him at some point, but there's no indication he did.

Re: If Dragonball Z came back on TV would Bruce Faulconer Music come back?

Attributing Faulconer's "music" to the booming success of the dub at the time is a pretty big assumption on the parts of both the Wiki and various fans who think the same thing. It much more likely had a lot more to do with the schedule shift that came at the same time as Faulconer's adve...

Mr Satan, Tenshinhan, Videl, (and Nappa? Am I making that up in my head?). Nah, you're right. Along with the one's you listed, I remember the whole Ginyu Force and Dende got recasted as well. There might some other ones. I'm not sure. Babidi was also recast. I can't think of any other major changes.

Re: Terry Klassen.

Can't say I'm a fan of his Dragon Ball work. He plays several characters and the majority of them are done with variants on this high pitched voice that I find horribly obnoxious. I don't understand why this needed to happen either. He's not without range as seen by his work on other shows or even K...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

Ohh thanks, i was wondering who is playing them from start!!! And yamcha any idea who is his VA? Yamcha is Grant George. Nice... If Ray chase had not confirmed he plays oolong and tien along with piccolo, we would have been wondering about who plays them too!!! That was a nice stroke of luck. Would...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

I would've had one hell of a chuckle if you did that. So, anyways, are there any other outstanding roles we need to identify VA's for? I think the only noteworthy character to remain unidentified is Puar. Of course, he's only had one line and the voice is so shrill and exaggerated there's probably ...

Well like I said just glad I didn't buy Kid Trunks merchandise to be signed by her which I almost did. I'll make sure I have a Kid Trunks when I see Bailey or Tipton since they can confirm their roles :/. Then again if it was a figure I could always just take the stand and have her sign that. :D I ...

Anyone who makes a "just Saiyan" joke. It stopped being funny years ago, now it's just annoying.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

While certainly not the worst English dub the DB franchise has ever received (that would be the Speedy dubs which didn't have the M/E audio track like Movie 9), this dub has its flaws. I'm curious, would you guys say this dub or the Blue Water dubs of DBGT and the second half of original DB are bet...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

I'm sorry, I love Bosch as much as the next guy, but all I would be able to hear is Joseph Joestar beating the shit out of a Cat. Actually, now that I type it out... You mean Jonathan, right? I get what you mean though. I personally don't mind JYB, but I can see why people call him overexposed. Not...

Re: Star Wars influence on Dragon Ball Z?

I feel like I should point out one of those reasons in the video is incredibly flawed. The claim of Luke Skywalker influencing Goku is based on information from the then non-existent prequels and very basic story concepts. "Defeats the bad guy" is really not a good basis for a connection.

Re: Favorite Non-FUNi English Voices?

There are a few Blue Water voices that I thought were really strong in their dub of OG Dragon Ball, which is much better than their GT dub. Zoe Slusar as Goku, Leda Davies as Bulma, Mike Shepherd as Kami, Dave Pettitt as Popo and Dean Galloway as Pilaf are some of my favorites. Hmm... Mind if I say...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

Ok, so I'm going to pose another question. Who could you all see as being Future Trunks' VA? Personally, I feel like Max Mittleman would be a great fit. I'm not sure if he is Union-only, but if he isn't I'd place money on him. He is not. Still does plenty of non union work, One Punch Man being the ...

The vocal inconsistency with English DBZ dubs can be really annoying.
Funimation's casting announcement said it's still Colleen in Final Chapters.(The link i had died, but I remember it clearly.)
