Re: Could Dragon Ball air on Boomerang?

Not sure if we would see the edited Saban era Funimation dub. Unless I'm mistaken Chris Sabat isn't fond of that dub. Sure the present day Funimation released the Rock The Dragon set, but those first 53 episodes are much more highly regarded than say season 3, and they'd need to rerun all 276 episod...

Re: What if you weren't introduced to Dragon Ball until now?

I actually don't watch many shows anymore, so if I had never seen Dragonball before I don't think I would have bothered. For example I've never watched Naruto, One Piece, etc. because I didn't see them when I was a kid, so I have no reason to see them as an adult. That's partly how I feel. I watch ...

Re: Petition: Changing the planet name of Kepler 22-b to "Na

I signed the petition, because while I feel it's extremely unlikely it would be a nice for us Dragon Ball fans to be recognized like that. I don't think NASA will listen to the fanboys/girls, maybe if someone could convince JAXA (the Japanese space agency) and they talked NASA into it because after ...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion

Exciting episode, if Piccolo is dead (which it seems he is) that could be one of the most memorable moments of Super so far. I hope the animation issues in the NEP will be fixed before next week because it has the moment we've all been waiting for that is Goku vs Frieza :D . EDIT : This comment was ...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion

Toei doesn't really do compilation movies with existing footage though; that's more a KyoAni thing. Toei does compilation specials, but not movies I don't think. Unless you mean them doing a reverse-Super and making a movie version of the Uni 6 arc? I think that's what most people here are expectin...

I'm Irish and myself and all my friends who ever watched the show pronounce it as Dragon Ball "Zee". The only person I know who has ever said Dragon Ball "Zed" is my dad .

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion

Am I the only one that is completely okay with the flashbacks being recycled? I like it. Yes it may be inconsistent with other flashbacks to Dragon Ball, but let's be honest here when was this series ever consistent? It is a nice way of creating a bridge to the past and recognize what Super is foll...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion

There are definitely improvements in the new frames, it's not saying a lot considering Episode 5 of Super was the worst Dragon Ball has ever looked, but I definitely won't lose sleep over the retouched images when I'm finally watching this on my own Blu-ray player.

LordCrumb wrote:Isn't the whole Dragon Box thing about getting the best picture and audio from the series? You have this for Kai already, it's the Blu-Rays.
It's also for collector's sake because in the case of Ball, Z and GT the Dragon Boxes had the best packaging of any release of the series.

Re: FUNimation selling extra Dragon Boxes at Dallas Comic Co

Umm actually the whole show was mastered on film, not video. Hence all the film grain....................... A show can be edited on video and still retain the film grain. The first two seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer were shot on 16mm (like Dragon Ball), mastered on video and they still have g...

As you can see with the screenshots above the Blu-ray has crisper colours, but the framing on the Orange Bricks is better (in parts).

Re: Funimation's Dragon Ball License

That could also explain the kai super delay. I just see that as very odd they've been quick on dragon ball stuff recently. There are rumours not all of the Funimation cast have finished recording their Buu Kai lines. I think we will get it sometime next year at latest. Super has not been out in Jap...

Re: Was Kai Necessary

I used to wish Kai was all reanimated. Then I saw the animation for Super and I think its probably for the best all they did was splice together all episodes. We will probably see the original anime series and Z remade with modern animation in a few years. Super's animation in general hasn't been t...

Re: Toriyama Interview Legitimacy Question

Well, as it pertains to Dragon Ball the word "canon" has never been officially stated, from Japan at least (Christopher Sabat has mentioned it before) so we can take that particular statement as a fake.

They're pretty much the same on the actual BD'S. I own all 9, they all look the same with the exception of Season 5 where the remastering goes a bit wonky in the middle of the set. Is there any differences between the 1st 6 seasons and the last 3 ? cause based on the pictures I saw it looks like th...

Re: U6 not having a final villan but instead just a conflict

Beerus will be nothing more than a Master Roshi in due time. He will surely be surpassed very soon. I'm hoping this doesn't happen. The universe shaking during the Goku vs Beerus fight in Super made both characters appear way more overpowered than necessary (at least from a pre-GT perspective), I'd...

Re: Should Dragon Ball Super have skipped the movie sagas?

Honestly I think the fact Battle of Gods and Resurrection F are being adapted into episode format is a good sign Super was only planned after the latter premiered in theatres. You know you have to strike while the iron's hot when your product outsells Fast and the Furious on opening weekend. That wo...

I haven't seen the Japanese version of Kai, so I can't judge that.

The English version however, as stated before redeemed Funimation's dubbing mistakes.

Nonetheless, yes I do think Kai was necessary. It helped to reinvigorate hype for the franchise.

Re: Dragon Ball Super English Premiere on Toonami Asia!

bruce falconer NEEDS TO DO THE MUSIC, he makes it sooo much more epic English dubs don't get replacement scores anymore. The only way Faulconer would come back for Super is if TOEI hired him to compose new music for the Japanese version, and that's not going to happen. I like Faulconer's music myse...
