Yeah, once it hit Toonami it took off immediately.
I remember before then it was on an odd channels at an odd time- I saw it maybe once and forgot about it though it did look awesome at the time.

Re: New Interview with Creator of Dragon Ball GT Rap
In my honest opinion, I believe FUNi screwed up big time with this one. They should of just kept the intended music of the show; it would've been a lot more deserving than this crap. How do you think Americans would feel if other countries changed the music of Indiana Jones or Star Wars with gangst...

Re: New Interview with Creator of Dragon Ball GT Rap
I'm kind of expecting that he was following orders and having most everything approved by Funimation, since that's how Menza said his work was handled. "What the hell were you thinking? Rap was a terrible choice. Instead of using the cheerful and adventurous tune from the original Japanese vers...

Re: Goku vs. One Piece!
For a nearly 100-page and totally free comic made by a fan on DeviantArt, the art is pretty awesome, imo.
Actually there've been two or 3 OP/DBZ crossovers, although this comic came out before them I believe. (nm, I forgot about Cross Epoch)

Re: New Interview with Creator of Dragon Ball GT Rap
What the hell were you thinking? Rap was a terrible choice. Instead of using the cheerful and adventurous tune from the original Japanese version, you decide to create an atrocious and embarrassing AMV on crack. I don't think he (Shorty?) is responsible for replacing Dan Dan and hiring himself. Thi...

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
My biggest issue with them replacing the music is that Funimation never really took the time to watch the entire series on fansub. Monika Antonelli asked EX if he knew where she could get fansubs during his famous e-mail correspondence with her over a decade ago. And I remember PN.com's new archives...

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
Even back when I was a dub fanboy the movies were all my favorites to watch.
Course, that included the TV Specials which all had great music to em. But this was before Movie 4 came out. Movie 4's dub music kinda sucked.

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
"IIRC BoG was a smash hit in Latin America- thing you can't say about USA." That's really an excellent point. I know that Poland had two DBZ movies hit theatres, and in Mexico the first episode of the beginning of the Buu saga was a huge deal in the country there. That more or less says al...

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
That's all assuming that someone pretended to be Schemmel and went to the trouble of running a FB fan page and interacting with fans for months for the purpose of defaming him, which I don't think is likely. You're the first one to even suggest that. If there was a pretender then I'm surprised "...

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
Good point. The fact that America had Hollywood, Disney and countless other media companies have spent decades producing mass-shows sent over the world meant we tended to be more of a cultural export than importer.

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
Didn't Sabat say no matter what they did to the show, it would have always have remained popular? That as straight from the horses mouth as you can get. And honestly I agree, I never watched Z for the music or dialogue but for the action and how cool looking the characters were, if we had a faithfu...

Re: Best Freeza dub voice?
Looks like Ayers wins, hands-down! Btw, what really happened with Linda Chambers and Sabat? I remember years ago someone on this board claimed that she cried and was devastated that the role of Freeza was taken from her, now I'm reading in this new thread that she was all buddy-buddy with the idea o...

"THIS is what you think is a piece of music superior to the original? Not the Negaverse theme? Not My Only Love, The Power Of Love, Rainy Day Man or Carry On? Not that any of those songs is better than the original one's but they are the only one's who can even be considered on par with the ori...

I don't care if the DBZ Kai guy is a thief or not- Chrono Trigger stole "Never Give You Up" for Robo's theme and it worked perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ8xce9HtD8 Hahah, I never realized it til now but Robo actually does live up to all the lyrics in the song! :P One of Faulc...

Re: Would Z have been as successful on US TV if JPN BGM was
-The original Dragonball did eventually air in the US in full with Kikuchi BGM, but failed to grab the level of attention that Z or even GT did. In Japan the original Dragonball was hugely popular, easily more than GT. This proves that there is at least some kind of difference in what audiences in ...

Hell yeah! Would have been more successful actually. I was the BIGGEST dub fan of all time til I got my hands on fansubs in college then it was the opposite. Pretty much EVERY person in my dorm I shared my subs with converted to the subbed version! :) Look, the problem with score isn't that it's new...

Re: Best Freeza dub voice?
The new movie dub's going to be kinda awkward, Freeza's had his voice changed more often and radically then just about any other character in the dub.
I'm still undecided but I'm not for either 4 or 5.
