Re: What were the issues you had with the Cell saga?
The whole concept of a tournament, the Cell Games, was unnecessary. That's pretty much it. Oh, and the regeneration plot hole is obvious.

Re: Why did Toriyama bother writing Dragon Ball Z?
The first is that it seems to be a point in the story where the flow of the narrative is completely cut off. There is some fluidity in the transitions from the 22nd tournament to the Piccolo arc, to the 23rd tournament, to the Saiyan arc, and finally the Freeza arc. It all kind of feels natural, li...

Re: Why did Toriyama bother writing Dragon Ball Z?
Why does that matter? So was DB. That's the very reason why we all love Dragon Ball as a whole. It's pure, unadulterated fun.thatdbzguy wrote:DBZ's was childish, unrelatable, had no artistic substance, and spoonfed things to the viewers.

Re: Who is the greatest villain in the entire series?
I think the most popular choice has to be Freeza, since he's the most iconic villain. And I share the same opinion, he's the greatest villain in the series. Cold, ruthless, intimidating and intelligent. Piccolo Daimao comes in a close second, with Cell in third place. Buu gets points for being an un...

Re: Tenshinhan's behavior in the Cell Arc
Tenshinhan's objective was to surpass Goku, I think he stated that after Goku came back from Yardrat. I can't recall it completely, though. With that in mind, he knows that he's already far outclassed and wouldn't want to take time away for someone who could stand a chance against Cell.

Re: Why did Toriyama bother writing Dragon Ball Z?
And I don't understand why people on this site hate the Android arc. What exactly is the problem? Introduces a great character with Mirai Trunks, brings a certain degree of plot "complexity" (for DB standards, at least) with the different timelines, a good villain with Cell, excellent mom...

Re: Why did Toriyama bother writing Dragon Ball Z?
I've seen plenty of people properly criticize DBZ. I've seen people criticize the one-dimensional characters, repetitive plot, and concepts that were poorly executed. Don't believe me? Just Google these things. You'll see for yourself. Those things can be applied to the original Dragon Ball as well...

Re: Post and Pre Majin Vegeta Comparison
Oh damn, I was hoping for this to be a personality comparison, since the Majin "phase" of Vegeta's life was what gave him the most character development in the entire series. I put pre-Majin Vegeta around the same level as SSJ2 Gohan from the Cell Games. He's certainly above SSJ2 Gohan fro...

Re: Why did Toriyama bother writing Dragon Ball Z?
I don't see how the deletion of the Saiyajin and Freeza arcs would benefit the overall quality and/or popularity of the manga? Being these the two arcs that introduce some of the most iconic characters in the series and some of the most iconic moments, with the Super Saiyajin transformation. I under...
