Re: Calendar Dates In The Manga

I wonder, if the month of May means something special to Toriyama or whether it's just a complete coincidence. Well, May 9th is a Japanese number pun on "Goku" (5=go 9=ku), so there's a definite reason for that one at least. The revised Cell Games date just comes from calculating forward ...

Re: Calendar Dates In The Manga

In the manga it's just May 9th, May 12th, and...ugh, the date of the Cell Games, which is "M 17th" in the original manga and May 26th for the kanzenban and full color manga.

Re: Fact Checker (update: Ep.48)

Herms' summary says that Black was stronger now than in the future, while DragonTeam's subs says he was stronger in the future . Which is the correct?
http://i.imgur.com/NR7EHvs.jpg
It's supposed to be in the future. I messed up, but it's fixed now in the first post of the epis...

Re: Fact Checker (update: Ep.48)

Well, Black blows up the time machine, sealing the future. But then Bulma in the end brings out the other time machine, providing a new path to that sealed future. So both interpretations still seem applicable.

Re: Weak-looking Characters are Strong; Misconception

I don't think anyone's claiming that literally every weak-looking character turns out to actually be strong, but it happens often enough to be a definite trend. Particularly with the Z era, we've got Vegeta (who's absolutely tiny next to Nappa), Freeza (both with his initial and final form), 19 and ...

Re: Should Mr. Popo be retconned in as a God?

So even to this day nobody has any idea what Mr. Popo is besides the fact that he always serves the Kami or Guardian of the earth. Should they retcon him in as a god similar to Beerus? Specifically, he's the "attendant" ( tsukibito ) of the God of Earth; it's the same term used to describ...

Re: A potential Zenoshin?

Yes, "God King" was simply a mistranation of "Kaioshin".

The ANN artcle also mistranslated Zen'o as "all of the gods".

Re: Viz will most likely go with the term "Lord of All".

Like..."king" and "god" aren't mutually exclusive in any way. I don't see why calling him "king" should be an issue. As noted, it's been pretty standard with DB gods ever since that blue catfish guy turned up.

It's the taco=tako=octopus=slang for "baldie" thing Cipher already mentioned. Kuririn gets called a tako/baldie repeatedly throughout the series.

Re: Is Yamucha the only Chinese name only written in Katakan

"Yumcha" isn't even any more accurate than "Yamcha", really. "Yamcha" is a compelely valid way of writing the Cantonese word for dimsum, while "yumcha" is actually not standard in the modern system for romanizing Cantonese words, but instead is some sort of ho...

If your question is can someone be very good at science and engineering while also being "a flirt in general", then the answer is a pretty definitive "yes".

Comment from song-writer Takemasa Ono:
"It's a song about how even when things are rough, you can smile and overcome it! I'll be glad if it gets people excited during live concerts! By the way, I wrote it while dancing (^O^) Yoka-Yoka dance! Heh!!!"
Sounds...interesting.

Thanks to your post though, I realized ノート really should be "notebook" here rather than simply "note" as I originally had it, since 一冊 implies an entire book. Aren't counters fun?

Re: DBS ep. 47 - subtle jab at the fanbase?

The Spanish subtitle went a little different than that (Pretty much said something else) " Wanting to value (Or Giving value to) something just by its strength, it's a bad habit of the Saiyans" So, which one is accurate? Herms? Help? The original line is that the Saiyans have a bad habit ...

Re: Krillin's Speech

It's basically a joke on how he started out giving such an elegant speech but then got stuck finishing it in a rushed, clumsy manner. Like if he started saying the Gettysburg Address, someone interrupted asking what his point was, and he responded "uh...it sucks these guys are dead, but hopeful...

Re: Freeza Arc and Cell Arc Vegeta: Whats the difference?

I said this before, but I think it's applicable: Vegeta acts smart and strategic when he recognizes beyond a shadow of a doubt that his opponent is a threat. When he assumes he's a gazillion times stronger than anyone else (ie most of the time), he acts like a total cretin. This explains the differe...
