Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
Jeez... Dragon Ball Z was such a big part of my childhood. While Super didn't live up to its potential, in my opinion, Toriyama's charm and humor managed to take boring ideas like "Broly again, but canon" and "Android Saga 2.0" and make them actually entertaining. Daima was not w...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
This must be where cyborg yamcha comes in? Although the cyborgs ARE still human so that's kinda odd. Yamcha saving the day but no one else seeing it would be funny. Who else could resist this? Boo if his magic is better? Gast? Mary sue? lol. OMG. I would love that. lol "What happened?" Ya...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I love how stern of a father Goku is in the Toei movies. Telling Gohan in the Bojack film to "stop being a pampered baby" and asking Goten and Gohan in the Broly movie "can't you protect the Earth if I'm not around?" He's not exactly a soft pushover of a father in Toriyama's Dra...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I don't think any Super Saiyan form will be in the show. I think they really go back to the rots of Goku fighting on his own without any power ups. I agree that transformations probably won't be a big part of the show, but I'd be shocked if the finale didn't take advantage of the opportunity to mak...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Is Kami in the english dub referred to as Kami or as god? I'm asking this because in the latin dub, they refer to him as Kami, as if it's his name and not his title. They call him Kami. The American soccer moms of the 90s wouldn't have appreciated God being portrayed as a green alien thing. Same re...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Since they're making everyone into kids, making Goku fight with his Power Pole again and all that, it would have made thematic sense and be pretty cool if they made a game for an older console like the Game Boy. Remember when McDonald's did that for Grimace? Like that.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
About this talk about a canonized SS4, I would not be surprised given how the last two movies were basically just the Android saga 2.0 and the first Broly movie again, but with some details changed. The comparisons to GT are obvious, but I wonder if those will dissipate once we get some actual story...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I honestly didn't know how many pages he had to put together every week. And he's not just the artist for the manga, but the writer too, so he had to come up with the story as he was illustrating it. I never held Toriyama's "laziness" against him. I mean, sure, he was making everything up ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Yes, but didn't Vegeta highlight specially the calm and no intent to kill there? Should that tell him he hadn't that SSJ trait? What is the issue you are trying to point out here? I don't honestly get it. Are you saying there's a contradiction or bad writing bc a character in the heat of the moment...

I'm not sure what emotion that last face is supposed to convey. lol
Is he holding back a laugh? Is he jealous of Kakarot's fursona? I can't tell.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
You know something I was wondering these days by seeing this title page from the original manga. Did Goku really trained with Gohan and Piccolo as a SSJ? I mean it made sense for him in anime filler do to so in Base since that would even things out a bit, but as a SSJ is a strech and that could eve...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Is the continuation of the DB Super manga beyond the anime (ie. The ToP) also based off notes from Toriyama? As I understand it, the manga exclusive arcs are written by Toyotaro. He still gets notes from Toriyama, but those stories are Toyotaro's. So Toyotaro writes the stories but Toriyama gets to...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Yeah, I don't get this assertion that waiting for Super's anime return is so absurd. As if the last two movies and the still ongoing manga don't exist. Oh, yeah. Super is totally dead and buried, guys. lol Even Daima doesn't necessarily point to the end of animated Super content. For all we know, th...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
That is very true. As much as people here like to say "Dragon Ball is Dragon Ball," that's never been the case. Z was always been more popular in the West, with many of my generation never even watching the original series, or starting it and getting bored halfway because it wasn't like th...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
TBH, the lenght of preproduction, talent and resources allocated to this irks me a bit too because somehow, I just DON'T see Toei giving Super 2 the same 2-3 years of prep and top talent too... Let's say they do. That would mean Super 2 wouldnt be out till... 2028? I mean c'mon. Same. TOEI's decisi...
