The German manga translation uses also "Gallik Strahl" (= Gallik Beam).

Re: Dragon Soul music videos - one official, one not
The first is the "Dragon Soul" official music video -- Basically, it's Japan's answer to Stan Bush's "The Touch" music video, but instead of Chromakey-ing footage from the show, they just have Tanimoto Takayoshi and his guitarist in an outer space setting. I'm not sure if this h...

Re: Awkward name renderings?
What makes it "awkward", though? Is it awkward to some English-speaking dude from New Jersey, while still being perfectly acceptable and sense-making to some dude from Spain? We don't all use our letters the same way in all countries. The best name Vegeta got is in the Hebrew dub: Makita ...

Re: German Dragonball Z DVD-Boxsets: Release Dates & Boxarts!
Here we go with the German Dragonball Z DVD Boxsets! The German Dragonball Z Release is based on the French Cut and same Video Source in 4:3 format! What exactly does this mean? That this release is from a video source that the French once used at some point? Because the German boxes seem to look h...

The warehouse for Europe is according to axelmusic in Germany.
So, you're lucky to own a code free player?

Yes, on the European Film Market Festival in Berlin. For business people ONLY (and so, of course, only in Japanese).JulieYBM wrote: Oh wow, I thought I had heard of a screening of the tenth film. O.o

Re: VIZ + FUNimation + Conference Call = "Exciting Things"
Has FUNi even put out any other OP movie besides 8? It sure would be weird to just get 10. Movie 6 > all of it, though. No they haven't, but considering France and Germany has supposedly already gotten the film, not to mention how huge the release was in Japan I don't doubt they're looking into it....

Re: Kai Episode 47 (7 March 2010)
Oh boy, what a bummer. At first I thought "Mhmm, no music at all. Okay, that's an idea. At least not Super Ultra Dragon Soul twice." Then the generic well known BGM starts "Wait! WHAT?!?!" What kind of idiots were sitting there and made such a dumb decision? "Ah Yoshi-san. D...

Right, but a region free player is too expensive at the moment. Too bad there is no chance to unlock the PS3.

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
For anyone who orders from AxelMusic they have Dragon Ball Z Kai ( DVD ) for a pre-order price of £21.67 and Dragon Ball Z Kai ( Blu-Ray ) for a pre-order price of £22.57. At the bottom of the Blu-Ray page they have a pie chart showing FUNimations region coding, it says "Free": 7% and &qu...

Re: What's with the name censorship?
Ok, I wondered since they call him T i enshinhan in the Swedish translation if I recall correct. So I guess the translators went with the Chinese-ricey thingy then! There are actually some minor errors in the Swedish translation, but I blame it on them actually using the German version sometimes fo...

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Believe me, the German dub has MANY unnecessary swearings. And for the record, I would say that "shit" - the actual English word - in German context isn't as hard as other swearings in German language. In comparison to the actual German word for shit ("Scheisse"), it's rather sof...

Re: Toei writing scripts for FUNi...
I know that part- what I want to know is why did Toei write the scripts in the first place? Was this practice normal at the time/in general/for FUNi or something else? If I remember correctly, WEP did receive translated scripts for Golion/Voltron too. These were awfully translated as well and so WE...

I got my Dragon Box today! It's amazing. The DVD's and Book look a lot more even which is really good, with my first Dbox the book sticks out a bit. I remember someone saying that there was quite a bit of yellow at the edge of the box, but it looks fine on mine! Thank you AxelMusic! Cant wait...

Regarding the "Sato Sky" thing. In the German dub the announcer asks for "Ukog Nos". I BELIEVE it's the same in the German manga translation.

Yeah, there was little exchange of words because of this some time earlier. I think it's pretty unfair, depending on US releases, but whatever.......... Yeah, checked it up - "Karin" is what the Germans call "Holzquitte", so someone probably just decided to simplify the name a bit, not knowing that they misunderstood the pun.
The translator(s) missed a whole bunch of puns in the German manga translation.
