Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...
That's just plot stuff and not necessary to tell the story. Freeza doesn't have to be that overwhelmingly more powerful than any of his subordinates. The plot doesn't even need the Ginyu Force by that point. The good guys have the Dragon Balls at that point. The Ginyu Force mostly serves as one more...

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...
I think it would take more than 20 minutes to establish Genkai and make her death matter. This is my issue with the filler debate in general. It went beyond a term to denote material added to adaptations to now meaning anything that's not "on plot". Stories are more than plot points and ev...

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...
Has anyone brought up the Yu Yu Hakusho live action show? I enjoyed it for what it was, but if that is an indication of what we could get with DB, then no thanks. It took 64 episodes and condensed it to 5. So much was cut out that much of the emotion is gone. It's all plot, plot, plot, but very litt...

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...
The reveal of this remake, while we get that Chibi Special, makes me question everything. I get that OP is the golden goose, been so for 2 decades, and looks to be so 2 decades more with this remake. But Dragonball is profitable too...right? Surely a remake would break bank......right? Dragonball i...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
The best multiverse stories understand that it's window dressing. A year or more between stories is hardly a waste. For many others, it is enjoyable to watch the author expand the lore and world-building of the setting. Not everything needs to be restricted to Goku's tiny little house in the middle ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
We just wasted an entire year on Red Ribbon androids from the Earth. Toriyama probably forgot about the whole Multiverse lore. He's entirely focused on the Earth/Super heroes stuff now. If I were you, I would curb expectations for more lore surrounding Zeno/the Grand Priest. I mean, the last time t...

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
Here's the thing: I don't believe we should apply the same rules of reality to fiction. A character acting out of the way they acted before without the story explaining why they're acting as such, I consider to be bad. The story doesn't need to do exposition to explain every inconsistent action. Go...

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
Goku did plea with his friends to not interfere against Piccolo but it didn't strike me as an emotional plea. He may not have been in control of the fight but he was sure he could win. The plea to let Vegeta go feels like him asking something for himself for the first time and on an emotional basis....

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
It's okay to enjoy things that are poorly planned out. But I'll have to disagree with you when you try to argue it's not poorly planned out at all. We can't discuss this any further when that has never been my argument and you claim it as such. I'm baffled that you think I even implied it. It's als...

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
Vague warnings from a guy who just shown him to be stronger than Freeza, and telling him that there are beings even stronger than himself that would kill him in a few years. Yes. Still vague. They don't know how strong the cyborgs are or even if any of this is true. Also, Dragon Ball is a story wri...

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
Putting my two cents here again: Vegeta's "sense of honor and pride, deciding to fight enemies he knows he can win" makes no sense. Vegeta as a character was extremely pragmatic during the Saiyan and Namek arcs, be it against enemies he knew he could beat or not. Biggest example I can fin...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
The level of stakes are so absurdly high in DB and now Super that I find it hard to believe anyone is actually bothered by Goku and others having a hand in it.

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
A problem with Toriyama's writing is that, he just changes characters' personalities in some ways to fit in a specific plot, which fucks over Goku, but he's far from being the only one, Vegeta in Cell saga suddenly becomes a dumbass who fights with honor when in Namek he actually fought dirty, Goha...

I don’t hate GT. I like it more than most but just think the fights are subpar
In any even fair enough. Have a good one

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
It does make sense bc Goku is very concrete bound. He won’t stop it before it starts but if it’s someone right in front of him he will Helping a stranger isn’t what superheroes do. They also go looking for evil to stop it. He’s consistent in that he is very concrete bound and unable to deal with the...

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
Goku told his friends to not interfere in the tournament bc if they did he’d get DQed. It’s not a superhero story. It’s a martial arts story. Saving the world is often just the plot but it’s not the story Once I understood that then so much came into focus Goku letting Vegeta go makes more sense and...

Re: Goku letting Vegeta go is a very touching scene
The stakes are only higher bc the level of power but it’s the same characters. While that was what happened in the Piccolo arc he is capable of destroying the world If you don’t like the protagonists, what do you enjoy about DB? I enjoy Dragon Ball up to Early Namek. After the Ginyu Force shows up,...

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...
On the other hand I really enjoyed the live action show, and that already provides a condensed version of the story. Having this anime remake come out at the same time might be overkill. The 2 Netflix shows could end up competing with each other for ratings, as many will only watch one or the other...
