Re: Linda Young not to voice Freeza in the Dragon ball Kai dub?
Gohan and Bulma sound better than they did before. I don't doubt that they could find another voice actor that could do a good Freeza, but it looks like they've stuck with Young, which I'm fine with. She was in that returning cast list that surfaced when the news of the dub was released, and we've h...

Re: Linda Young not to voice Freeza in the Dragon ball Kai dub?
I guess I'm alone in liking Young's voice for Freeza. Watching the Japanese broadcast of Kai, I've gotten used to his JP voice, and I like it just fine. But I loved hearing that laugh in episode 1. I switched over to the Japanese track to compare, and it just sounded silly.

Re: FUNimation's Exaggeration Of Voices
Reacoom's outward appearance is that of a goofy, toothless retard No it isn't. That's how Funi voiced him, but it's not how he looks. He looks like a brick wall on steroids. His personality as part of the Ginyu force is goofy, but then that goes for all of them and not just Reacoom. Funi's directio...

Wow, anyone who says Goku's Japanese voice sounds too much like a woman needs to see this. Because seeing that voice coming out of an old woman just doesn't add up.

Yeah, that's it. I mean, if you look at how Raditz is drawn here: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l210/T_Man_2006/Dragonball/DragonBallZKai003-ALife-or-Death-3.png There's just no variation to the line weight. I know, but those are the ones that look the best for some reason.Kaboom wrote:These are also high-motion scenes. A lot of these shots are on the screen for less than a second, and not even noticeable unless you're actually looking for them.

...of Kai's redrawn scenes. Now that Funi's first release is out, we can get a better look, and it's baffling. I was just watching episode 3, and I can't understand why some scenes look like this: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l210/T_Man_2006/Dragonball/DragonBallZKai003-ALife-or-Death-1.png htt...

Is this really a serious question? Why would you expect everyone who bought the season sets to do this? Or even know how to do this? Or even think of it as an alternative in the first place?Blue wrote:why didn't you just buy the VHS tapes and convert them into DVDs?

Re: FUNimation's Exaggeration Of Voices
I'm not sure what it is about Reacoom's outward appearance that his Funimation voice would be based on. Sure, Funi went for silly voices and accents more often than not, but outward appearance rarely seemed to be a reason. Jeese doesn't look particularly Australian or anything. Kaio's voice is just....

Re: DBZ VS KAI VS MANGA (the great filler debate)
I'll just stick with the manga. When I talk about Dragon Ball, that's generally what I'm referring to. Unless the animated version is directly brought up, I don't really think about it.

Re: Effectivity of the Devilmite Beam and the Carrot Touch
The Budokai Tenkaichi 3 game had the Devilmite Beam do varying damage depending on who it was used on. It did no damage to Goku, obviously. But the more evil the character, the more damage it did. If I remember right, it did the most damage to kid Boo and King Piccolo. Obviously, it's supposed to ju...

They shouldn't be called artificial humans either, but that's what they get called. Funi calling them androids is no different.

Re: Do you think the Kai Dub will use the term Artificial Human?
"Android" is no more or less accurate a way of describing all of them than "artificial human", so there's not even much point in changing it.

Re: Do you think the Kai Dub will use the term Artificial Human?
Just to be clear, the Terminator is a cyborg. Kyle Reese is very clear about that. Cybernetic organism. Robot inside, but it's skin is living flesh. Blood and all.
And Viz uses "android" and "cyborg", depending on the character.

Re: The most famous controversy - Goku's Japanese voice
I was pointing out that you said, "His voice is too deep and growly" based on his looks. The thing here is, there is no reason that Cell couldn't, or shouldn't, have a deep or growly voice. He's a giant bug creature. I'm not saying you're wrong for thinking Cell should have a different vo...

Well, the thing is, you're saying it doesn't fit... but give no real good reason. So of course I'm going to say, "Hey! Uh... why do you think that way?" This is a message board, what else does one do here than discuss this stuff? I gave my reasons. If you don't see them as "good"...

Re: The most famous controversy - Goku's Japanese voice
What I'm getting at here, is that the voice can be left up to interpretation. What I'm getting at here, is that I don't particularly like Norio Wakamoto's interpretation. Do I really have to explicitly say that something is just my opinion and not some law I'm trying to impose on the world? I would...
