Re: If you were a billionaire (DB related)
I want less Sparking clones and more genre-diversity in DB console games. * Kinda like Sagas could have been had it not sucked all 7 balls (then went to Namek for another 7). If I've got a billion dollars to spare, yeah, I'd totally go there. * I stopped paying attention to DBZ games at some point w...

Re: How did you get/decide your name?
My initials + my last name. But wait... It started out just me needing a username and going with the one my school's network assigned me, way back in eighth grade. Unfortunately, that was cajones. Which, three years later, I finally Googled. So I added the e (I had an extra initial that wasn't doing...

Re: Chichi's training (or lack there of)
I seem to remember the battle power readings during the Saibamen "tournament" being used specifically to point out that the readings were unreliable (I'd say Vegeta's skepticism in the system was sealed when he crushed his scouter). So far as I can tell, Yamcha beat a Saibaman, which puts ...

Chichi's training (or lack there of)
Specifically, why didn't Chichi do any combat training during the Saiyan arc? She went to the 23rd tournament just to beat marriage out of Goku. Sure, she settled down and became a housewife shortly there after, but her husband kinda died, her son got kidnapped and everyone who knew anything about i...

Re: The Common Enemy
The main difference that comes to mind, when comparing Mr. Buu to the Evil Buu that attacked the lookout, is that Evil Buu doesn't give a damn. He takes what he wants when he wants it, and basically disposed of the idea of right and wrong entirely. He could conceivably be manipulated into a fragile ...

Re: The Common Enemy
I don't see Freeza "Turning good", per se, but a fragile Enemy Mine type alliance, or maybe eventually just annoying him until he realizes his reputation would do better if he let Goku quietly fade into the shadows rather than get attention for fighting him... I could see Freeza not-dying ...

Re: Quality of Discussion on Kanzenshuu Going Downhill?
I've been not paying so much attention to this room, saw that Rocketman had the last post, got curious, saw this thread title, which was almost word for word what went through my head the last couple times I dropped in, eventually read to Rocketman's post and had an urge to reach for the like/thumbs...

Re: Any sorcerer or sorceress characters in the series?
Here are the Japanese words I found looking for "Sorcerer" (Note that Babidi is referred to as a madoushi): in'youka (n) diviner (esp. of the Yin and Yang system); sorcerer; exorcist; medium in'youshi (ok) (n) diviner; sorcerer; exorcist; medium madoushi (n) sorcerer; wizard; mage mahoutsu...

Re: Three-Eyed People & Tenshinhan
It's a weird sort of detail that no one in the series knows about, added because everyone else was getting Sci Fi-ish explanations. And by everyone, I mean the major characters (Chaozu kinda got left out). It's also a reference to something, if I remember correctly. Eh, Toriyama might have thought o...

Re: Were the humans really useless?
I get the impression that, when people say "useless", they mean "never win any fights (or if they do, they're either filler, against unimportant henchment, or both)". Which is a terrible definition of useless, although it seems like Toriyama didn't help much to redefine it (most ...

Re: How would YOU have done DBZ?
What would I have done differently? There are basically two scenarios, here: 1: I'm writing it like Toriyama was--on a schedule, with little time to plan ahead--but with more of my style than Toriyama's style (though, the two mesh rather well, hence why I'm still here XD ). 2: Knowing everything tha...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged
Abridged T'en is one of the characters I don't hear in fanfics, just because it's rare that he's written in the tone that fits that voice. Vegeta and Piccolo don't count, as they are almost dead-ringers for Sabbat. TFS has taken over voices whenever I have DB-related dreams, though. Why, just last n...

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Just gotta say, this is about the most entertaining thread that treads on this subject I've ever encountered. XD ... I wonder if it'd be cheating for Goku to use a Genki Dama that draws power from magic-wielders. Never mind that Superman would have to stand there and let him. Wait, no! I know exactl...

Re: Do humans acknowledge how people suddenly return to life
I like the idea that they thought the death of Daimao/Cell was a reset button, myself.
Eh, I don't know how they could buy that on Buu or the people at the tournament that Vegeta killed, but eh, at that point it's the middle of the apocalypse and who wants to worry about those details?

Re: How would you incorporate the movies into the series?
First, I'd distinguish between two types of plotholes: timing-based plotholes, such as people being pulled out of the middle of a storyline (the general trend for movies), and mechanics-based plotholes (where the movie makes something up that doesn't even work in filler, like Goku punching Bojak fro...

Re: Goten, Trunks and Android 18.
It comes down to "could that ki blast have killed 18?" Which is not given an explicit answer. The idea of calculating Trunks' battle power based on the weight differences is pretty clever. :) If it makes sense in context, though, then fusion is a crazy power boost, isn't it? The absolute m...

Re: Orin Temple Monks
I was actually thinking about a model of DB ki that fits Rocketman's post perfectly at one point... though I hadn't thought about it in that way. I was also kinda assuming that dead-person ki kinda diffuses from the remains and gets recycled into the environment, hence the giant leaps everyone makes...

Re: Thinking about it...
True, though the strongest among them were more interested in the challenge than solving things quickly and bloodlessly. Vegeta at least wasn't going to let anyone try to stop Gero ahead of time, and Goku, Tenshinhan et al would have at least tried to discourage anyone from taking initiative anyway....

Re: Favorite old rumor
I guess it's not a rumor so much as a popular fan idea (Or at least I got the impression it was a few years ago), but the idea that Uub and Namu are comparatively closely related. I suppose it's from a combination of their similar motivations (feed/water the village), their inherent skill as humans ...
