Yes - It was, even back then it looked somehow clunky ... Street Fighter II defined the genre allready in 1991 in the arcades, and was ported to the super famicom home console 10 June, 1992 ... None at all. I'm not sure Linking Park or Dragon Ball even crossed over in any way for me. Liking the Breaking the Habit video was probably the closest they even got to an anime crossover for me.
