Kyle Hebert's narration is so out place with the Japanese score

Not sure if its his delivery or the lines they gave him to say but his voice does not fit as the narrator with the Japanese BGM. They should have used the guy from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z Kai

Re: Why does the uncut dub with Japanese music not played Head Cha la

The more I think about the more I'm surprise the Blue Rays didnt use Head Cha La for the English dub considering Dragon Ball Z abridged has probably helped expose it to a lot of DBZ fans who wouldn't touch the Japanese subs

Re: Is the English instrumental opening supposed to be a remix of Cha-La Head-Cha-La?

The opening, assuming its the one I'm thinking of,
would be less for kids and more for the slighltly older crowd since its for the uncut release.

Re: Funimation's Cast Improvement

I've always felt Linda Young was an improvement over Pauline Newstone simply for sounding closer to a male voice. It didn't sound remotely male and even if it did, she was so bad in that role. Newstone was a better and more seasoned VA and while her take on Freeza might have left something to be de...

Re: Thoughts on Brian Drummond's Vegeta?

Back in the early 2000s, around 2003-2004, during the DBZOA era, Drummond was pretty much universally well liked. There was even another site wholly dedicated to how great the Ocean dub was and how terrible Funi's was, though I can't remember it. I just recall it being hilarious. I've seen Drummond...

Re: Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?

or how the voice work actually sounds legit instead of a high-budget fandub. That's the one that bothers me the most. Not just because the Funi cast has improved immensenly and noted they have but its still, mostly, the exact same cast since 1999. But nooooooo to hear some of them talking its a bra...

It's definitely not a remix. Where did you even get the idea?

Your thoughts on the Nathan Johnson score?

Good? Bad? An obvious imitation of the Faulconer score for musical consistency that has no true identity?

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

^That's true. Saiyan Saga is a fitting end to Dragon Ball even if means Yamcha, Piccolo, Chiotzu, and Tenshenhan are gone forever.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

The first US opening (Rock the Dragon) also spoiled: Goku going super saiyan, Vegeta being a super saiyan, and the existence of Trunk and him also going Super Saiyan

I suppose it was done to allow switching being the Japanese score and English score to be seamless?

Regarding the episode titles

Re: Is the Japanese Version Underrated?

GameFaq and IGN are cesspools though

It does need to be said that ouside this forum the American DBZ with the funi in house cast and uncut with the Faulconer score is the most popualr version among casuals.

Re: Would you like to see Japan do a live-action DB feature?

To be fair every adapation has either been no budget or misses the point.

Like Dragon Ball Evolution there was no reason to miss as many points as they did

^Yeah like I said I wish Pioneer had picked up distribution rights after Saban dropped it beyond the 3 movies. The Ocean cast with the Japanese score and Pioneer's lax standards? Yes please.

DBZ Kai is the only way to watch the in-house Funi dub imho.

Re: Thoughts on Brian Drummond's Vegeta?

I don't know, Sabat's Vegeta still sounds incredibly forced. It's a lot better than when he started, of course, but it's not great. I think that Sabat's PIccolo and non-surfer Yamucha sound a lot more natural than Vegeta. Team Four Star's Vegeta sounds a lot more natural than Sabat's, to be honest....
