Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Do we know if the footage in the trailer is footage funi is using for this boxset? I know you will say why would it be in the trailer if it wasn't? but it could be placeholder footage just like the box art. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking and optimism. lol We ultimately won't KNOW, and the...

Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussion

Even if they announced something it'll probably just be the Cell arc's 6 volumes. God knows how long we'll have to wait till Buu's gets released let alone the original DB's volumes. Even just Cell would be nice! I mean I'm shooting for the Kid Goku stuff, but it looks so good I'm happy with any par...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I try to assume good faith when people are arguing with me, and I've always found that to be the case with ABED to my recollections, so I discounted that possibility. You have a lot more patience then I do. Yes, how pathetic and ridiculous we are for being frustrated that Funimation has continually...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It's not much of a revolution if they can't convince Lucasfilm or Disney to release the original. I get it, I want a proper unedited release of both SW and DB (I have the latter, not the former), and I can understand petitions and voting with your wallet, but the vitriol for something like this is ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

In other words, I ordered knowing it was a gamble. The sheer vitriol this thread has turned into over - once again - a Blu-ray box set of a Japanese cartoon meant for young boys is rather hilarious to read, really. I hate how people are attacking each other in here. I get strong disagreements but t...

Re: What is the darkest arc in the original run?

I think in terms of tone, the Cell Arc is the darkest the series ever got. Little to no comedy, the story takes itself 100% seriously (which I think is largely to the arcs detriment), and there's some very distributing bits. Clinkenbeard's performance as 18 is getting sucked into Cell is truly terr...

Re: What is the darkest arc in the original run?

The four heroes aren't lying on the floor in their own blood. They are triumphant. Vegeta didn't get away. The heroes let him leave. It's certainly one of the darkest arcs, but it's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. Gohan isn't unable to move because he's battered. Gohan is tired aft...

Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussion

Funimation is about to milk DBZ again with another Blu-Ray collection and ViZ still didn't bother to release the rest Full Color Volumes of DBZ. I'm not even counting with the DB arcs anymore, because if it takes this much time to release the other two DBZ arcs, the much less popular DB portion may...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Ugh, great, now we've got the Vic thread part 2 in here. Calling these the Black Bricks would be a massive missed opportunity, and I'm sure you'll all agree that there's a far better, far more correct name, assuming this release is as bad as it appears (and I'm sure it will be)... The shit bricks. N...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Can any drop a shot of the Dragon Ball Z dragon Box (a shot of raditz that was in the new remaster trailer) to see what gets lost in the overscan? Cause the Dragon Box cropping for episode one seems to be similar to my VCD fansubs that took broadcast video That's actually a tricky question, because...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It makes me wonder what happened to the Level set scans (aka Steves Transfer). All they would of have to do was center crop (I don't expect other releases to have as much picture information as the level sets) to mask the tapes marks if they were worried about them and call it a day. Not sure why t...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I get that fans here are hoping the footage they showed isn't the actual but wake up, it's FUNimation, they do this bs all the friggin time. Stop being delusional. Not that I disagree with your point, but I do feel there is a small grain there regarding the intro footage and Ep 1 footage being of d...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

If only Toei Animation would have a Rule that would prohibit Funimation (and every other non Japanese Company who has Rights to DB ) to mess that much with the original Footage, but they probably don´t care as Long as Funi´s Releases bring in the Cash. I mean the across the board quality of the mov...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Everything about this release just feels so lazy. That will be even more obvious if the hardback book contains nothing but recycled promo art. Worse part is Funimation seems to think after all the complaining about their problems people will buy this set just because its in 4:3. Passive aggressiven...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Just noticed that the artwork for Goku on his statue box is very similar to the cover for Xenoverse 2. For a 30th anniversary celebration release, there's almost nothing about this that's actually NEW. Dragon Box this ain't, even the mass-market Blu-Ray Seasons got brand new art pieces made for them...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I wouldn’t be able to tolerate having that Goku figure in my room smiling at me... knowing it came with a poorly remastered re-release, the figure would be a constant reminder of my hatred toward FUNi. Well obviously it'd be before you dose it in gasoline before giving Goku his first pyro-based Kai...
