Dragon Ball Video Game Sales Discussion Thread
Here are the most up to date official sales figures for these games. I’m not posting sources for every game because there’s a ton of games, even more sources and probably nobody cares anyway.
Almost all of the figures though come from either Media Create, The Magic Box, Famitsu or Namco Bandai.

Currently the "Product of the Week" at Play Asia at the moment. I'm sure it'll do fine.

I honestly think Xenoverse will sell at least 2 millions units.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
That would be great as it'd mean they'd definitely keep the Xenocerse series going but I think 2 million is probably stretching it. Maybe 1.5 million though, that'd be a feat in itself.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
I dunno. From what I've seen, there are a decent amount of people looking to buy the game multiple times over.
You got one group that's buying it first in Japanese because they couldn't wait to play, and will then buy it again in English to understand everything.
Then you have another group looking to purchase it on one system, with plans to pick it up on a second system to either upgrade when they move to the current generation of consoles or to play around with it on Steam once it starts getting mods.
I guess that might even net you a small minority in a third group, who bought the Japanese version and will go on to buy the English release, as well as the Steam version once we get decent mods.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
Agreed. Hell, 2 mill is a guarantee with it being on 5 platforms and it being marketed relatively well.Lord Beerus wrote:I honestly think Xenoverse will sell at least 2 millions units.
Re: Previous Video Game sales?
Here's some official sales figures from Media Create and what the latest games have sold Week 1 in Japan.
Battle of Z - 53,000 PS3 & Vita
Ultimate Tenkiachi - 44,000 PS3
Raging Blast 2 - 47,000 PS3
I expect somewhere in the 50k range for Xenoverse.
Vgchartz has Burst Limit at selling 85,000 Week 1 in Japan but I think those days have long gone.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
That's the beauty of the Xenoverse being a multiplatform game; if there one platform you can't the game there always one other platform that you can always rely on to get the game. But once Xenoverse 2 drops, I expect it to be a PS4/XB1/PC exclusive.mysticboy wrote:Agreed. Re: Previous Video Game sales?
Japanese games respect Dimps a hell of a lot than Spike. Call me crazy but I think Xenoverse could shift more than 100K in the first week on all platforms combined.Bullza wrote:Here's some official sales figures from Media Create and what the latest games have sold Week 1 in Japan.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
I'd say there's really no chance at all of that happening. Battle of Z sold better because it was on the Vita which is the most popular PS console over in Japan. Its not even having an Xbox release over there.
So its just a PS3 and PS4 release and I'd be very surprised if it sold so much as 70,000.
I think we have to wait till the 11th to see Media Creates numbers.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
Xenoverse was released on Xbox platforms in Japan. The issue is that the sales wouldn't change much, or at all, if they hadn't been.Bullza wrote:I'd say there's really no chance at all of that happening. Speaking of Japan, I think Xenoverse will do well, at least as far as modern (post-PS2) home console entries are concerned. It's the first game in a long time that offers something new (DBO was never released in Japan) and will be most recent game available when the new movie hits. Does that mean it'll outsell Burst Limit? I can't say. I do agree that a Vita version would allow it to do better in that market, but I guess Dimps were busy with the five already existing versions of the game.
Internationally, I think Xenoverse will be one of the better selling releases the series has seen in about a decade.
As for sales data, I ran a fairly comprehensive thread over the years documenting sales data information from the NPD Group, Media Create, Famitsu and Bandai Namco's financial reports.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
Re: Previous Video Game sales?
I don't see Xenoverse on Xbox consoles on Amazon JP but its there on Play Asia so there's that I guess.
Whatever it could lack in Japan I'm sure it will make up for elsewhere. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't one the better selling games in at least a few years.
Media Create should update today so we'll see how it does.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
Re: Previous Video Game sales?
Well a big part of that is due to the Japanese drifting away from consoles. The PS3 hasn't sold half what the PS2 has in Japan.
Less platform owners, less potential software sales. That doesn't the disguise the huge drop from Burst Limit's sales though.

First week sales:
Media Create
[PS3] Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Bandai Namco) - 44,221
[PS4] Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Bandai Namco) - 34,690
Famitsu
[PS3] Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Bandai Namco) - 37,125
[PS4] Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Bandai Namco) - 26,657
Both trackers report that the game is the #1 title this week.
Famitsu reports sell through (meaning, the percentage of total copies shipped to retailers that were sold to customers) for Dragon Ball Xenoverse between 80-100%. This is a better outing than recent home console efforts in both units sold and sell through.

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Wow. So, in the total sales reported by Media Crate for Xenoverse is 78,911 copies? Too bad it didn't outsell Burst Limit.

Re: Previous Video Game sales?
Those still pretty damn good numbers. And that's not even including how much it sold on PC or Xbox platforms, which must have pushed the total number of units sold to at least over 80,000. I mean Burst Limit had the advantage of being the first PS3 Dragon Ball game and coming off of Tenkaichi 3, you can only imagine that there was a considerable amount of hype for the game. And it released during a time when Dragon Ball was much more of money maker in Japan than it is now.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Wow. Now lets just hope the US does their share of work and shift at least a million units.

I think Xenoverse could have some legs. Famitsu's sell through data suggests the game may have been sold out at a variety of stores. Couple that with the incoming Revival of F push and you might see upcoming weeks experience lower than normal drops.
