Green tint, sure, but why would you say 4:3? Nobody broacasts in 4:3 anymore.KentalSSJ6 wrote:A part of me likes to think its taking so long because they are editing out the green tint and altering the aspect ratio back to 4:3.
But that has the same chance as a snowball in hell.

Because Z was aired in 4:3 and FUNimation released their Kai DVD's and Blu-ray's in 4:3 and they probably want to be consistent.irreality wrote:Green tint, sure, but why would you say 4:3? Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Well Z doesn't surprise me, it was made back in the day. I had no idea Funi's kai dvds were 4:3, though. That is really weird, since Kai being 16:9 was a big deal.ShadowDude112 wrote:Because Z was aired in 4:3 and FUNimation released their Kai DVD's and Blu-ray's in 4:3 and they probably want to be consistent.irreality wrote:Green tint, sure, but why would you say 4:3? Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Kai (Saiyan - Cell) was 4:3 on Blu-ray in Japan and internationally. It was only ever 16:9 for its broadcast due to Japanese TV requirements. Boo Kai being 16:9 was a huge deal because it offered no 4:3 option, at all.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Yea since Kai obviously uses the same footage as Z most people prefer 4:3 so that lose of picture isn't an issue unlike the 16:9 cropping. Hmm I fully expect Funimation to not even announce anything until Toonami at this point let alone announce a release date it's sad really but if Funi has a contractual agreement to not announce it until Toonami airs it then there's nothing we can do.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I think Toonami is the reason why Buu saga Kai is not out on home video yet. Toonami sign a TV deal so that they have to wait for the Buu saga to air on TV in the US. That can explain why Akame Ga Kill is not getting a home video release until Febuary. They want people to tune in to watch TV or otherwise they will just buy the whole set and watch it all of the episodes on their own.

They aired 47 last night. If we're going to have to wait for Toonami then we'll be waiting till 2018/2019.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think Toonami is the reason why Buu saga Kai is not out on home video yet. So about another year until they finish the Cell saga then? Cool. Well not cool actually.OmegaRockman wrote:They aired 47 last night. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So roughly one more year exactly until they reach the Buu arc. At this point, I think it is safe to say Toei are standing firm on wanting a TV deal, and this is why FUNi haven't yet announced the Buu arc for home video.
I don't know how this works, as in, whether or not it is simply enough for FUNi to confirm they have signed a contract for Toonami to air it in Winter 2016, and that will be enough for Toei to say "ok, go ahead and start the home video releases".
Because they haven't announced anything yet, I assume Toei want it to at least begin airing in order for them to give FUNi the go ahead. It may be that if they do go down the parts route first before the seasons, then the release schedule will work similar to how it went in Japan.
The first 12 aired, then shortly after, they released it to home video.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
My patience has gotten way past thin. It's already almost been a whole year since I even started this thread. That being said I've waited so long at this point I'll just simply be happy to be getting it at all as sad as that is. I just want a finished collection and a complete modern dub so I don't have to listen to sub par acting, poor script adaptation, and sans the filler for the final arc. If I want to watch original DBZ then I'll watch my Dragon Boxes with subs. The cutting of filler is a very important and good aspect of Kai but obviously without question getting that modern dub is the big attraction.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Hopefully that'll be the case but I have a feeling we'll have to wait till they air the whole arc before it gets released.DBZ_Lee wrote:It may be that if they do go down the parts route first before the seasons, then the release schedule will work similar to how it went in Japan.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I can't see that happening. That wasn't the case with Kai 1.0 on Nick Toons, or the Buu Arc in France, which released the first half of the Series whilst the remaining episodes were still airing.sintzu wrote:Hopefully that'll be the case but I have a feeling we'll have to wait till they air the whole arc before it gets released.DBZ_Lee wrote:It may be that if they do go down the parts route first before the seasons, then the release schedule will work similar to how it went in Japan.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Yeah. This also happened with FMA:B, episode 13 aired on TV May 8, 2010 but a BD set containing episodes 1-13 arrived May 25th. So it seems they have to air the episodes first on TV and there are able to release them for home video soon after.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
The Cell arc will finish on the 31st of October so if they air Buu right after then we can expect the 1st part to release sometime in February 2017,the 2nd part in April 2017,the 3rd part in July 2017,the 4th part in October 2017,the 5th part in December 2017&the 6th part in March 2018.
You know what else this could mean ? we won't get Funi's dub for super till 2018.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Occasionally in life there are times where potentially bad news is best simply left to the imagination and not brought to the foreground. I think this may be such an occasion at this point. Id rather just not think about it too much and just let it happen when it does than get a schedule in my head. Bang my head against a wall every day for over 2 years if i was told it wouldnt all be rolled out till 2018. Dear lord.sintzu wrote:The Cell arc will finish on the 31st of October so if they air Buu right after then we can expect the 1st part to release sometime in February 2017,the 2nd part in April 2017,the 3rd part in July 2017,the 4th part in October 2017,the 5th part in December 2017&the 6th part in March 2018.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
It's Z counterpart has an acceptable dub so the wait won't be as bad as it would if the only alternative we had was a season 3/Cell arc level of dub.ShaneisMC wrote:( Id rather just not think about it too much and just let it happen when it does than get a schedule in my head. Hopefully the U6 arc in Super will get turned into a movie cause I don't feel like waiting till 2019 to watch it dubbed.
Thankfully we don't have to wait for Toonami to air One Piece before it gets released or we'd be waiting forever.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I wouldn't mind this delay if they'd at least talk about the Buu Arc in Kai. Did Sean post anything of it? Sabat? Anybody? They could at least make some statement.
