General consensus on Parts 1-4 music placement w/ Kikuchi?
I know that a lot of people had complaints about Parts 5-8 with the Kikuchi inserts. They said that the songs they used were very repetitive and the placement was mostly awkward. What is the general consensus for the new placement for Parts 1-4 with the Kikuchi tracks? I'm curious to see if they are worth replacing the Yamamoto originals with or not.

For those that never seen Kai before then they shouldn't worry, watch it as it is, it's no masterpiece but worth watching.
Anywho, from what I've seen from a few episodes (Saiyan and Friеza's saga) they seemed to have more variety than later on (Android and Cell).

Actually, earlier episodes have the same numbers of pieces of music. Things are even worse to those who have seen Z because pieces from later arcs sound very out-of-place.dbboxkaifan wrote:Anywho, from what I've seen from a few episodes (Saiyan and Friеza's saga) they seemed to have more variety than later on (Android and Cell).

The ones that I watched were 3, 4 and one from Friеza which was Episode 47, I think.
I'm not really concerned with the out-of-place BGMs, for me it was better to have more variety regardless of fitting/unfitting. I liked it, so can't complain.

How do I know if I have the replacement score for Parts 3 and 4?
Are there any side by side comparisons online?

However if you bought Part 4 in Aus/NZ, it'll definitely have Kikuchi.

Just remember that The US Part 4 version contains Yamamoto and will be difficult to find for a good price.LordCrumb wrote:Gonstead wrote:Part 3 still contains Yamamoto.LordCrumb wrote:How do I know if I have the replacement score for Parts 3 and 4?

It's hard to give it a reasonable price when the others have steep prices.
It's a rip-off to be selling it for $90 due to the fact it has like 12 episodes but it's an OoP item so it's a rarity.

With Part 4 of the Madman release, the DVD release would definitely have it but I'm really unsure about whether the Blu-ray version does or not since I have the first three parts and they have the discs taken straight from the US release with no label reprints, region change etc so it could be 50/50.Gonstead wrote:However if you bought Part 4 in Aus/NZ, it'll definitely have Kikuchi.
It sucks how they haven't brought JB Hi-Fi to Christchurch yet (really wanting them to) so I can't check for myself.
Re: General consensus on Parts 1-4 music placement w/ Kikuch
I'll shoot MadMan NZ an email and see what they say.. although I have emailed them in the past about things and have had no response.
JB is online, but their prices are sometimes cheaper in stores (specials) http://shop.jbhifi.co.nz/dvd/dvd-genres ... -ray/54831

Re: General consensus on Parts 1-4 music placement w/ Kikuch
Sorry, just another question.. confirmation of sorts.. was Collection 4 Blu-Ray (American) replaced, or did they just wait till they did the 'Season' set before they changed the music? So if I bought Collection 4 by itself from America, I would get the original music?

Part 5 is when the music changed to the original Kikuchi tracks.LordCrumb wrote:Sorry, just another question.. confirmation of sorts.. was Collection 4 Blu-Ray (American) replaced, or did they just wait till they did the 'Season' set before they changed the music? Everything Pre-Part 5 will contain Yamamoto (barring the Madman version of 4) and everything Post-Part 4 contains Kikuchi.

Got an email from MadMan New Zealand regarding Part 4 Blu-Ray:
Morning Again,
We were required by the licensor to release it with the replaced soundtrack
Cheers

MadMan are still keeping their Part Four Kai Blu-ray edition alive while the US version has been officially discontinued, but the US only featured the original soundtrack so there's no mix ups.
LordCrumb @ You bought Part Four BD for $13? That's really cheap. At the time this was out Amazon charged me $39 for it, but converting to pounds it cost less (£24) and I wanted it, so I decided to pay and receive it.
The original score does make Kai feel cinematic.

Yeah I am pretty happy with the price, even with shipping added on to get it to me (i've bought a few things so my friend is waiting till they all arrive at his place), it should end up being about the same price as it is over here, but it will have the original audio, which makes it worth while.dbboxkaifan wrote:MadMan are still keeping their Part Four Kai Blu-ray edition alive while the US version has been officially discontinued, but the US only featured the original soundtrack so there's no mix ups.
