So i'm guessing since its finally getting a release there means that we may see ours eventually, right? Since kai is ending in japan france and not far away from ending in korea

We won't be the last. My guess is that South America will be the last to get it, because with their dubs of Kai, they used the video, audio, and script materials of the Nicktoons-censored English dub for dubbing purposes. So, assuming they still have that deal locked in place, they can't do their dub until we're done making ours.

Looks squished to me, rather than being an open 4:3 master (which I think we're all pretty convinced doesn't exist for this arc).

It is squished, but it's also framed differently to the Japanese version. We can see this if we compare the French opening with the Japanese one:

Most interestingly, the background during the 'Boo bite' scene is entirely different compared to the Japanese version, which features mountains. There's also 'speed lines' that aren't present during the Japanese OP. I also noticed that Goku's nose and many other parts of the image are persistently different across the versions.

So it does seems there's definitely a little more image at the top and bottom, but I'm not sure if that really confirms there's a 4:3 version of it. It's more than likely just some extra image for the sake of it framing precisely later on.

Has anyone else been watching the taiwanese dub of kai? I've watched the first 2 episodes that aired so far. According to this picture, they probably weren't planning on a Japanese version of either of the songs since their titles are in english.

No and neither are the opening and ending, but for some reason, my video got squished to 4:3 and should be in 16:9

Are the episodes squished then? I feel like if there's no 4:3 version then Funi will squish the footage for the people that have the blu rays so that the aspect ratio difference isn't so jarring

No the episodes themselves aren't squished, but the way I record the episodes makes them squished. There is no official 4:3 version of The Final Chapters

It is the Taiwanese subs. It seems that since the opening and ending was in English, they didn't put any subs since it's not in Japanese so Taiwan just put their own. The subs are included throughout every single episode, so it's not just the opening and ending. Unfortunately, the subs cannot be removed, which I have no idea why the subs would be there in the first place other than for people who don't know English for the opening and ending
