Of course, but at that time calling some character a "god" was a no-no, thats why Kami stayed with the Japanese term.

That still doesn't change the fact that 'Supremo Kaiosama' is pretty dumb, they might as well have kept Kaioshin as is then.

And thats why now he's called "Supremo Kaioshin" :?
Maybe, its a better translation as, like you said, Supremo could be a translation for "-sama", I'm not sure of that myself, but where I'm going is that for the people that grew with the term "Supremo Kaio-sama" would expect it to not change now to some weird sounding (at least for me) "Supremo KaioSHIN".
