7.0% is a good number. I'm satisfied.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

DVR update:
episode 2 was the 2nd most recorded animated show of its week, only behind Yokai Watch. It managed to beat Doraemon (#3) and even One Piece (#4).
The text at the top actually highlights Dragon Ball Super, saying it doubled its viewership compared to the live broadcast (what brings the total ratings up to about 12.0%, i guess) and pointing out how the series is drawing big attention. Great news, then!

Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
So basically there was a reason why most people didn't tune in to watch anime in general that weekend and instead they had to record it to watch it later.
Did we ever find out what happened that week? It wasn't a holiday as far as I could see.

Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I never even thought about the episodes being recorded. Supers done better than I thought it would.
Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I don't know, but i have the feeling that following DVR rankings will be essential to understand the ratings of the show, as the franchise probably has a solid older fanbase that isn't used to watch tv on Sunday mornings, more typically aimed at children. So slow weeks like that one, followed by a great DVR viewership may repeat quite often, let's see how it goes.Bullza wrote:Did we ever find out what happened that week? And of course, it's important that the live viewing keeps ranking high too, as more kids watching means more merchandise selling.

Woah that was a good plot-twist. I was so focused in TV ratings that never thought about the recordings.Araki wrote:http://www.tvguide.or.jp/ranking/timerr ... index.html

Good to know the series is getting the respect it deserves.

Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Timeshift viewing figures are still a frustrating commodity to deal in. Most large broadcasters in the West take them very seriously these days, especially owing to how 21st Century viewing habits are changing in this part of the world due to in-demand services, but broadcasters are still a little slow to fully catch on. In Japan when it comes to anime, usually most of the viewing figure pressure comes from the sponsors more than from the network, who are especially concerned with the age demographics that are consuming the show.FortuneSSJ wrote: so focused in TV ratings that never thought about the recordings.

It therefore remains to be see how the show's future ratings will fare in regard to timeshift figures and how Bandai will react to them. If, for example, these early episodes are making their way into the DVR schedules of adults who want to give the new show a glance over out of curiosity, having been fans of Dragonball Z back in the 1990's, it will be interesting to see how long that interest is sustained, and whether the sponsors feel that the show is attracting the sort of audience that they're interested in.

The older fans using DVR makes sense. I think if I was living in Japan I'd probably DVR Super too, if only because 8am is early and I'd want to sleep in a little on the weekends. Would watch it after breakfast probably.

Yes, it's set to air this weekend. There was no episode last week because of an annual marathon.Galan007 wrote:So Episode 4 is delayed until August 2nd?

Ratings were just updated with episode 3's recordings and look at that, Super was #2 again, only behind Yokai Watch, once more.
It got even more points this time, and even though episode 3 already had a higher viewership than the 2nd one (7.0 x 5.6), there was a steady rise with DVRs too.
The rest of the top 10 was:
3 - One Piece
4 - Arslan Senki
5 - Conan
6 - Gintama
7 - Laplace
8 - Ore Monogatari
9 - Ushio to Tora
10 - Kamen Rider Drive
All figures considered, it seems Dragon Ball and One Piece are fighting for the title of most watched anime these days, when we remember Sazae-san and Maruko-chan have a high live audience but don't even rank here, while Yokai's live ratings aren't that great.

Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
6.3 isn't bad considering it's Pilaf Gang who used up most of the episode. I liked their BOG intro better, but Mai's VA improved in Super, so.

Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I was expecting a worse drop off so this is good! I think episode 5 might be as high as episode 1.
Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
It's not bad but it lost badly to Conan and OP when it was rivaling them before.

We'll get a better idea when the time-shift adjusted figures are released.Doctor. wrote:It's not bad but it lost badly to Conan and OP when it was rivaling them before.

Re: Dragon Ball Super TV Ratings Discussion Thread
For an episode that was 90% Pilaf Gang shenanigans, that's a decent rating. I honestly wasn't expecting the rating to be higher than a 6.0.

Its good to know that no matter how bad the episode is, DB will never leave the top 10.
