Tons of companies do or people that work within them, fanservice in entertainment media is getting more and more obvious (for better or worse depending how well executed). So I'm not surprised, I just wished they answered fan 'requests' better. Gotenks appearance in F arc took 5 seconds, what was even the point. Either include them and give them proper screentime/arc/developement or don't bother at all IMOBlade wrote: I don't want to suggest something absurd like the idea that Toriyama or people at Toei actually tracking/gauging fan opinion online

If I remember correctly, yeah. People couldn't decide if it was a cat, a rabbit , a kangaroo ...in any case it looked very pokemonish to a lot of people.ekrolo2 wrote:Was Beerus' design disliked by people when it was revealed? I'm not sure what I'm enjoying more: the actual designs, or the salt I'm seeing in comment sections of other websites. The Universe 6 Shin-jin are a nice little bonus I wasn't expecting.

His design,Ssjg,Ssjb&Golden Freeza were all disliked when they were reviled but after awhile they've become more accepted by fans.ekrolo2 wrote:Was Beerus' design disliked by people when it was revealed? I pretty much liked him and Whis since the first time I watched the movie.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
People have a knee jerk reaction to things with this series.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Hmm, wonder if the Universe 6 Frieza can transform?
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I remember most didn't like Beerus and Whis designs. They thought Beerus was based on an Egyptian God. Even worse when Golden Freeza was introduced. In general people don't like new things.
I liked Zuno's floating temple. Was he floating in the same chair as Freeza? I wasn't expecting we'd have that much of an audience. Hoping for some nice commentary, like Master Roshi gave in the early TB. Surely the new guys will have some cheerleaders of their own. Maybe the flux of new characters isn't finished yet.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I think Whis wasn't as villainized, but only because he looked "normal" next to Beerus, so he wasn't the focus of complaints. But yeah, people don't like new things.LightBing wrote:I remember most didn't like Beerus and Whis designs. They thought Beerus was based on an Egyptian God. That sounds like an excuse to defend every Toriyama design even if some of them are really uninspired. One can love or hate Beerus/Whis designs, but no one can say they were rehashes.LightBing wrote:I remember most didn't like Beerus and Whis designs. They thought Beerus was based on an Egyptian God. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I remember people thinking Whis was female because you could barely make him out on the BOG poster.
I didn't like the Babidi eyes Beerus has on the BOG poster, but I like his current design.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I would have liked Beerus' design more, if he didn't have those Babidi eyes about to pop out of its sockets.
I can even prefer Champa's design to Beerus', as Champa not only don't have those eyes, but he also has a nicer purple colour to him in contrast to Beerus' more greyish Purple.
The Strongest Guy Beerus ever fought also looks like complete crap and I don't even like the stupid joke, that he has saggy nipples.
Toriyama may like to shock and awe with his unassuming strong guys, but they tended to get good designs. Even if the first Buu was some fat bubblegum monster, as soon as shit got real, he also got upgraded to a better look, because Toriyama knows very well that at the end of the day no one is going to take a fatass seriously as the final villain.

Strongst guys looking silly is not shocking anymore though. By now it's what has become expected of Toriyama. Reversed expectations full waydbgtFO wrote:I would have liked Beerus' design more, if he didn't have those Babidi eyes about to pop out of its sockets.

I think the new Saiyan will be some kind of sadistic anti-hero prodigy. I probably won't like him at all.
I think so. Even I raised my eyebrow first, and I now think Beerus has the best design in the series.ekrolo2 wrote:Was Beerus' design disliked by people when it was revealed? I pretty much liked him and Whis since the first time I watched the movie.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
My fiance is currently reading the chapter. Apparently it's detail heavy, so a Herms translation at a later date may be preferred to a scanlation potentially butchering things.
Warning, the info below may not be 100% accurate. It is accurate to the Korean version, but mistakes could have been made while they originally translated from Japanese.

----
- Jaco, despite being a super elite Galactic Patrolman, knows nothing about alternate universes or Super Dragon Balls. He wants to go to the tournament though because it should be interesting.
- Bluma offers to bring his girlfriend too, but Jaco got dumped.
- Zuno-san requests "gifts" in exchange for questions. Jaco goes to kiss him on the cheek and he blushes, but only gives him only one question because he's a guy.
- Jaco asks about Bluma's bust size: Apparently it used to be 87.2cm, but after breastfeeding, it sagged a bit and now it's 83.4.
- Despite being a girl, Bluma only gets 3 questions for her "gift" because she's middle aged and not Zuno's type.
- Bluma's first question is accidentally used up when she asks if she only gets two more questions despite being "this pretty".
- Bluma then asks about the Super Dragon Balls: called "wish orbs", they were formed in AGE 41 by the Shenlong (dragon god), Zarama/Jarama. They have a diameter of 37,196.2204km, and are a perfect sphere. Within Universe 6 and 7, combined, there's 7 in total of these light yellow orbs, and within each orb is a star marking varying from 1 to 7 stars. These markings are designed/made so that they always look like stars when viewed from any angle. This refraction technique is a structure original to Zarama/Jarama and was patented in AGE 42.
- Those who collect all seven and speak in the god's language, "Come forth, Shenlong!" and then, "Grant my wish." get one wish fulfilled no matter what it is. Once the wish is granted, The orbs are immediately scattered throughout the two universes.
- Bulma asks a rhetorical "Huh? 7 balls between the two universes?" and Zuno says "Yes", having her waste her third question even though she wanted to ask if they needed to use the exact wording for summoning". Zuno tells them to come back after a year.
- Bluma and Jaco return to Earth, angry at each other for wasting their questions.
- Goku and Vegeta discuss the tournament while training in the RoSaT for 3 days/3 years (no mention is made of how/why Vegeta can be in there at all after spending 2 days back in the Cell Arc as far as I'm aware, though Goku should have only had a day left too). Goku wonders if their opponents will really be strong, and Vegeta says they have to be since Champa saw their abilities and is still confident. Goku thinks Vegeta is smart for figuring that out, and Vegeta says of course he is compared to Goku/Dumbass.
- Vegeta questions Goku's acting like a child and asks him to think about his age. Goku says that Vegeta said Saiyans remain in their prime until they reach age 80. Vegeta says he was talking about his mentality...
- Frustrated, Vegeta gives up on smalltalk and Goku says he's excited to be able to cut loose like old times at the tournament.
- Beerus is upset Champa trespassed into his universe for some of the Super DBs.
- Pilaf Gang discusses the Super DBs, vastly underestimating their size.
- Gohan is indeed at a conference and can't come to the tournament.
- Monaka is Beerus' 5th, "strongest he's ever fought" warrior.
- Vegeta doesn't think Monaka looks strong. Piccolo says it's their trend to underestimate guys like him...
- Whis says Monaka means, "Great Ponta." Monaka-san is a hero from the planet, Wagashi (japanese for "sweets"). He's very calm/shy and kind but once he bares his fangs, he can give even Beerus-sama some trouble.
- Goku wonder's what "Great Ponta" means, and Monaka explains that it means his very large nipples...
- The Galactic King is disappointed he doesn't stand out against the other characters. Jaco apologizes for them not being impressed with a "Galactic King", as the group knows beings like North Kaio, so...
- Kuririn suggest playing shiritori (a Japanese word game): Whis goes with "jirujiru". Goku asks what that is and Whis says it's a bird on his planet.
- The group took 35 minutes to get from Earth to Beerus' planet, then 2 hours and 10 minutes more to the designated fighting place on the "nameless planet" via a "ship" that Whis made.
- Goku is surprised that Kaioshin is separated into Kaioshin and Kibito again, but then almost immediately ignores them when he spots the Universe 6 Kaioshin.
- The introduction to the new gods is cut short so that they can conduct the written test portion of the tournament.
- While the same races, planets, etc generally seem to exist in each universe, the characters that exist there seem to be entirely different. I'm not sure we can keep calling it the "Freeza Clan" for Universe 6 if Freeza never existed there...
- Champa's fighters consist of Not!Freeza, the Iron Giant, Winnie the Pooh, Tarble 2.0 and Neo from the Matrix if he cut the head off a DBO Namekian, dyed it purple and wore it as a mask.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Wow the character designs look much better in the Manga, got very excited after seeing the character's full body in the manga.
And I guess we don't need Gohan anymore with this new bad ass Gohan look alike character. On the upper left looks like a gaint DragonBall

He should be able to as Frieza's true form is supposed to be how their races true form and these other forms were designed to suppress their power.shinmaru wrote:Hmm, wonder if the Universe 6 Freeza can transform?
I feel like this gets forgotten in a lot of things though.

Tell that to all the people always expecting for Broly and Broly look-alikes.Basaku wrote:Strongst guys looking silly is not shocking anymore though. By now it's what has become expected of Toriyama. Reversed expectations full way

The panel says 37,196.2204 Km does it not? You must have left out the 37 by mistake or else something is off.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:

I wonder what Zarama/Jarama means?
Also Age 42? An obvious reference to the number of DB Tankobon?
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Didn't Champa say he collected the 6 balls from HIS universe? And we saw him in universe 7 before... Oh, I like where this is going.

Zarama/Jarama is the name of this original Shenlong right?TheDevilsCorpse wrote:
