This is awesome. Thanks! It must have taken you a lot of time.
Hmmm based on this data and strictly the rankings Original Dragonball and Z did great. By contrast GT had an average ranking of 6th........hmmm
Compare GT to Super, which had a better ratings?

Well, on average, GT occupied between 6th and 7th, the same as Super, which stayed 21x in 6th and 42x in 7th until now.

GT ranked 6.2 on average while Super is sitting at 6.6/6.7 so GT edges it out.

That being said there are a lot of other factors. For one streaming was not so common place.
That being said however is why using ranking is really the only way to compare between the two eras. It stands to reason that the similar external factors would be experienced by all its peers as such each can only be compared to its contemporaries during the same time period. However the rankings also give use how relatively well it performed and its general popularity.

We know GT and Super are not comparable to the original dragonball or Z in terms of popularity. However GT and Super seem to experience relatively similar levels of popularity when compared directly to its peers. The biggest difference is that GT has experienced far greater deviations from the mean than Super which GT going anywhere from 1st to dropping out of the top ten. Super may not currently be averaging higher rankings but it certainly is the most consistent of all the DB products.

GT aired in 1996-1997 when there was no online streaming on the internet.

A large chunk of Japanese fans likely watch Super online, and this doesn't contribute to the ratings.

And GT Disk sales are leagues above Super, in fact even original Dragon Ball and Z, so ...?

Is obvious that given it was an original Toei Animation series and not a Toriyama work many fans left the franchise. Still it was a highly successful series.

I think with GT, people got tired of the Goku Time and the fact that it didnt had Toriyama's badge on it, probably helped speed its downfall. had GT had Toriyama's input, like Super, an outline or some sort, it probably would have ran for over 100 episodes.

I feel like Super would be a perfect anime where it simply followed events that happened in the every day lives of the Z warriors, with an occasional evil, which forces the z warriors to band together and defeat it.

That would get boring very fast, people were already starting to get very bored with the episodes before this arc and were getting bored with this arc before Freeza came back.

Not to metion that would be terrible merchandise wise and ratings wise as in nobody would care about a enemy that is around for 2 episodes. that show would get canceled way sooner than even gt and kai firsted did which merchandise sales weren't that good, and this coming from who is pretty okay with GT.

also nobody would care about a show with zero new charaters or ideas or concepts.

And this franchise runs of merchandise sales not ratings or what people opionons of it is, including mine. Considering it just beat one piece in ratings and OP is in a Yonko arc I am pretty sure they are fine and that db is project to make well over 30 billion year this year.

Also Boruto shows that does not work as the entire naruto fanbase everywhere I go thinks it's very boring right now and needs to pick up to something interesting already before they drop it.
Go to like the biggest naruto english site around naruto forums and everybody there says they think there needs to be much engaging stuff and something interesting needs to happen before I drop this manga that, and sarada looks like a hooker  .

I do to and I think are very good besides a few. But wouldn't work for a entire series.

Do you keep up with Boruto? I actually think it's funny very how most things people talk about every chapter is Sarada looking like a hooker. If you don't I am not even joking, people talk about that more than Kawaki doing what he did to Naruto now.

Well no point in discussin what would and wouldnt work, since Toei would never do it.

Nah i dont follow, have no interest, once Naruto finished i lost interest. The 2 movies were nice tho. Unless Boruto involves, Boruto and his friends dropping their jaws at Naruto and Sasuke's powers every chapter, i have no interest, since i CBA to rewatch Naruto 2.0.

People love to talk about GT dowfall and how flopped, but there was no flop at all. It didn't do as well as the Toryama stuff, but it still did amazing, both in comparison with other series of Toei Animation at that time as well as other series of others companies.
Is just a fact that Toei Animation only does around 2 years of remakes or original extensions of series, and that is why even Super got a placheholder of 100 episode as soon as started.
Note Dragon Ball GT wasn't the only series where this happened, we also have the remake of Dr. Slump, various remakes of Gegege no Kitaro, Tiger Mask, Sally the Witch, Saint Seiya, Kinnikuman and many more cases. It really is a easy to see pattern.

Right now it seems the only exception to that rule(around 2 years for remakes and extensions) will be Dragon Ball Super, given the mega boost the series got, placing it at the merchandise sales level of One Piece(without the information of Domestic Film sales, in fact even surpassed One Piece this financial year). I totally can't see them following the 2 years rule for a series doing that well. It would be Madness.

The problem is that the the ending for GT was extremely rushed and didn't seem like they planned for two years.

I'd think a lighter hearted slice of life Dragon Ball series would still be pretty interesting.

There'd of course be fans who wouldn't like it but I'm sure plenty that would aswell. That's what I liked about the Dragon Ball Z anime in that it's filler sort of had that.

I've never liked filler for other shows but Dragon Ball Z had some good ones. I do like seeing the characters in normal situations like when Vegeta and his family went to the the theme park in Episode 2.

If it's constant fighting it becomes boring eventually.

I disagree, GTs ending was pretty much perfect.
The title of the manga and the show is called DRAGONBALL. The final boss, due to your overuse of the thing the entire series was about resulted in the most powerful enemy you have even seen. The final enemy taunts you by saying you created him as you feebly make excuses of how you only used them for good. The main character leaves with Shenron and the Dragonballs while they pay homage to all the characters that helped them along the way of them entire series. The end cap doesn't get much better than that and waaaaaaaaay better than Zs ending.

That's not the only reasons though. The mid 90's in general was a terrible time for the Japanese anime industry.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I don't care about the numbers but beating One Piece once and Detective Conan twice in the last 3 weeks is quite good. Has Super gotten a better rating than any of the other 4 shows that are always at the top at some point?

The only "real" change in the ranking is whether we are above or below Detective Conan. (and that one week we beat One Piece).

The rest of the variance in ranking is due to whether Doraemon or Crayon-shin chan are on that week. It is not due to Super being "better" or "worse" that week. We have yet to beat "the top 4 shows". But it also rarely falls below its current ranking either. It is very stable in that sense and that is good.

But this is important to keep in mind when comparing the rank with GT, for example. GT's average rank is higher, but the variance is really high: it was often as low as 11th place. Super's rankings really have not varied other than a couple of shows are not on every week. Super has never dropped below the top ten, either.
