Very surprised by how good that battle at the beginning was. If that's the average for this tournament, we should be fine.

kitano was in this episode he supervised the 2nd half
Edit: well i guess i got it wrong although some shots look like kitano, i guess me seeing bad art make me only think of kitano

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of myself for guessing Itai off of a quick shot of the Grand Priest. I love his style so much. It can be a little funky at times, especially the nose size, but on the whole, it's a terrific take on Yamamuro's sheets.

The opening fight was great. I recognised Nikaido's work, so I guess the stuff around it was Inaba's and possibly Miuma's?

Very weak second half, but smart to use TAP at this point.

So the ep 97 shot could really be Kitano.
This episode had a lot of great shots, I wonder why DBS twitter uploaded the bad ones.

So what Nakao said was true Frost and Freeza scheming, I read somewhere the JPN cast don't record until episodes are done so since Nakao said that a month ago I believe guess that's a good thing.?

Maybe people who told you that didn't know what they're talking about? That's a possibility. We learned that Vegetto would be on DBS thanks to an interview of Masako Nozawa three weeks before episode 66 airs.

Sometimes they record to storyboards and/or layouts with mouth flap guides. They did it back in Battle of Gods for certain people:

That red circle opens and closes to indicate the required timing.

I suspect they did the same here to accommodate for Nakao's US visit.

Yeah, all those designs seem like they're hard to draw. I almost expect them to not do much with a lot of these characters.

The fight was good, but everything else... damn. U7 looked great, but the other characters looked so ugly and simple.
It looks like next week they're going to look just fine and dandy though; but as an introduction... damn.
I guess it won't matter next week, but the ugly character art for the introductions is gonna be the talk for the next 6 days.

Other than Itai seemingly not being able to decide what he wants to do with noses and some TAP jank this was an okay episode. The fight scene was really good! Them using Nikaido, Inaba and Miuma right before the tournament only strengthen's my feeling that they have some good animators lined up for the ToP.
NEP looks great, the action looks very Z like. Nii looks pretty polished in there.

I had almost no problem with the 1st half of the episode and that fight scene was very solid. 2nd half could have used some more polished drawings but I understand why they were like that. NEP actually looks really good, I see polished drawings with good looking action.

I don't see what most are talking about. The art seemed fine to me. There was nothing bad at all. But, I guess we all have our own different standards huh?

Yeah, it's an exaggeration. Most of "the talk" I've been seeing is about the Gods fighting scene or character interactions.
