I see Gohan having the treatment of the Good dad, bad mom/wife ever since he debutted. Everyone (including us) wanted him to fight and kick ass. But his character was always written not to like that sort of thing. We can clearly see that Toei feels like us and they tried to push him to glory. Well... "glory" ever since Beerus Buusmacked him back in Ep7.
But they tried to do by him for what it's worth.

I've a theory on why Gohan had his power struggle ever since the Buu Saga ended. (You can check the video link in my sig)
but tl;dr his power drop was mainly due to him having a baby.
And now with the last filler where he fought Goku. I think that was Toei telling us that he is finally ready, as we could see in the Opening #2.
I see redemption for Gohan. There are more than enough enemies in this arc for him to beat. Even if we follow ROF standards, he should kick some foes.
So will "my boy Gohan" finally be redeemed in this arc?

Yes. I don't have enough charisma as Magetta there. Still trying to convey feelings and stuff. (Thanks by the way.) English is also not my first.
But yes, he never had interest in fighting. But Toei tried to make sure he stays "ready" for whenever he does HAVE to fight. That was the point.

I'm going to guess that Gohan will lose his match against the Coyote. Two reasons why
1. I expect Buu to win his match so obviously if Gohan loses then the final match is going to be for keeps. That way Goku vs Bergamo is the decider and it keeps it interesting.
2. Him losing will cause him to train and that's how he'll re-obtain his Mystic form.

Vegeta once again pushing Gohan into the battlefield, first in U6 and now hinting at Goku to go get him for this match.

Hm, I don't mind Gohan losing his match here, as long as it's not an embarrassment. As said, he'll take his loss here seriously and hopefully come back stronger than ever for the actual tournament.

I think it is safe to say my boy Gohan will be redeemed in this arc
Re: So will "my boy Gohan" finally be redeemed in this arc?
My boy Gohan needs to decide if he has Ultimate or not already.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I hope Gohan's bang competes in the tournament in his stead.

Piccolo will pull it out of his forehead with a pair of pliers. It will thus recognize Piccolo as its father, and work quite well with him.
Re: So will "my boy Gohan" finally be redeemed in this arc?
From what little I saw of today's episode I think it's safe to say Gohan will get a very major role in the tournament and it won't be like what Piccolo got in Champa's.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

All the foreshadowing of him becoming even stronger and the upcoming episode with Goku.sintzu wrote:From what little I saw of today's episode I think it's safe to say Gohan will get a very major role in the tournament and it won't be like what Piccolo got in Champa's.

It's kind of ironic now all the people who used to say Gohan would never fight again or be relevant or whatever...got proven totally wrong in the last few months.
Re: So will "my boy Gohan" finally be redeemed in this arc?
There's nothing ironic about that.

Mah boy Gohan has already redeemed himself as far as I am concerned..
Dude acknowledged his buu saga failures and worked upon that, that's pretty fucking awesome..
Also, hahaha ultimate looked like such a godly transformation with all the effects on the sky
So goddam cool

Re: So will "my boy Gohan" finally be redeemed in this arc?
I'd much rather see Mythical Gohan whoop SSj3 Goku's ass first. If only for the salt of all those Mythical = SSj3 proponents

Omg that would be so awesome on so many levels. A fight not only representing the endless Buu Saga debates but also giving the final clue to where Goku's power stands.
"Mythical" Gohan sounds hilarious btw. I've never seen anyone call him that.

They just made Gohan great again. He may be no Cell Games SSJ2 Gohan, but there is progress. Now he just needs to treat these fights like his universe depends on it.
