Dragon Ball Super: Broly made more than 1.6 million reais in the premiere date. It's the best number a japanese movie ever got in Brazil for a premiere.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Brazilian Portuguese Dub
It's really satisfying to read that, I give props to the dub as they really did a good job on the movie. Also to correct myself, saw the complete "Ultimate Battle" by Sutter and I changed my mind, it was really good.SaintEvolution wrote:Dragon Ball Super: Broly made more than 1.6 million reais in the premiere date. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Brazilian Portuguese Dub
I watched the movie again yesterday, and I can confirm now: this review is really wrong and I don't know what the guy who wrote this had in his mind to think that they were Shimada's screams.Gafonso6 wrote:You guys are so lucky to get the movie so early! (Hope it doesn't take too long to get here)
Regarding the movie's dub, according to this review it appears that most of Broly's screams are Shimada's. Is that common for the Brazilian dub? Maybe the japanese scream from the first trailer wasn't just a mistake like Wendel Bezerra said.
All the screams were dubbed, and really well dubbed. Dado Monteiro is the spotlight of this movie's dub, the guy is amazing.
Also, it seems it passed 1 million viewers. It seems to be the 2nd japanese movie with more expectators in theathers in Brazil even until now.Noah wrote:It's really satisfying to read that, I give props to the dub as they really did a good job on the movie. I need to say that Cartoon Network this week is finally broadcasting new episodes. Today they broadcasted episode 114, when Caulifla and Kale do the fusion.

Also, while the dub is being very praised by it's acting, casting and production values, the script writer, Marcelo Del Greco, was criticized for adding some jokes and memes in the dialogues. Roshi mentioning Broly when Kale appeared was the thing that made it happen first.
It seems he learned the lesson since the Broly Movie didn't had this kind of stuff, but the Super dub was recorded before it, even if it's only being broadcasted now.

In your opinion, which script was more meme-y, the English Funimation script or the Brazilian Portuguese script?

It's hard to decide. The brazilian dub is still more faithful and a bit more literal than the english one, but has a lot of popular slangs and jokes in some characters' lines, especially Whis and Champa.Danfun64 wrote:In your opinion, which script was more meme-y, the English Funimation script or the Brazilian Portuguese script?
In the english dub a lot of dialogues are totally (and unnecessarily) different from their original japanese counterparts, and a lot of strange lines (like Hit's donuts) were added. They even made the narrator break the 4th wall once.
Well, I'll took the english funimation dub script as the most meme-y one, but it was hard to decide.
At least, the acting is still very good. Yesterday they aired episode 126, when Vegeta defeats Toppo, and both Alfredo Rollo (Vegeta) and Mauro Ramos (Toppo) killed it.

Wow can't believe they already finished dubbing the whole arc where the English dub is around episode 105.

First Wendel Bezerra and now Tânia Gaidarji. Wow, that Marcelo Rezende guy really loves to make up shit to accuse voice actors. He's accusing Tânia of pedophilia.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Brazilian Portuguese Dub
I doubt this thing will affect them. This guy already fucked up with that Dossiê Márcio Seixas before. I mean, Marcelo proved that Márcio Seixas (brazilian voice of Batman) was a shitty person, but he also showed that he is a shitty person as well.Tian wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 4:58 pm First Wendel Bezerra and now Tânia Gaidarji. He accused Wendel of being unethical, while he accused Tânia of pedophilia. About Wendel, there is nothing much to say.
About Tânia, for what I know of her, she is a very good actress, but she is also an attention whore, and she is probably horny, what makes me think that is not impossible for her to hang out with younger boys.
But, the brazilian law only categorizes it as pedophilia when the person is below 14-year-old. So, if she hanged out with 15-year-old boys or 16-year-old boys, that doesn't makes her as a pedophile, legally talking. It's really questionable when it comes to morals, I agree, but this if true, doesn't make her an actual criminal in Brazil.
P.S.: For those who did not understand this thing, 'Dossiê Márcio Seixas' was a big scandal that affected the brazilian voice actor Márcio Seixas. It was something comparable with the Vic Mignogna scandal in therms of proportions. The 'Dossiê' was handled by a guy called Marcelo Rezende, who is now trying to do the same thing with other voice actors, including Wendel Bezerra (Brazilian Goku, Spongebob, etc) and Tânia Gaidarji (Brazilian Bulma).

At this point Marcelo just wants to make money and get attention. Pretty sure we don't need to worry about this too much.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Brazilian Portuguese Dub
Wendel Bezerra said in a new video for his Youtube Channel that the dub of the series had several retakes recently. Most of them happened to eliminate the added jokes and references that doesn't exist in the original japanese version. And I also imagine that they corrected some minor script errors too (like the infamous Broly line in the ToP).
It's not confirmed if the corrected version will be broadcasted in the next Cartoon Network reprises of the series, but if the anime will be launched on some streaming plataform or have any Home-Video release, they will use the corrected version.

That is indeed good news. We had good voice actors that can produce a good work being faithful to the original version, but that's bring to question: why didn't they did that on the first run? Was it all a matter of rush of finishing Super quickly?SaintEvolution wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 2:42 pm Wendel Bezerra said in a new video for his Youtube Channel that the dub of the series had several retakes recently. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Brazilian Portuguese Dub
Coming back to this thread after 3 years to give my compliments for Bezerra and his team for their effort to insure the new series/movies will be dubbed with the same actors people were used in the 2000's! I remember being glad of watching Batte of Gods with the voices I remembered as a child and that was in 2013, meaning that's almost 10 years of this people making the possible to have the old cast bring the same experience for the fans, this deserve much appreciation.
About Super Hero dub:
- Luiz Antônio Lobue was amazing as Piccolo as always, funny to think he didn't imagine his character to be the star of the movie, talking to Bezerra (in his channel) that he didn't remember an episode where Piccolo had such prominence.
- Fagundes was also nice as Gohan, though many think he was a bit off in the trailer, but ya all know these are fast dubbed for promotion and the actual movie dubbing is different.
- The only misses were Pissardini (health issues) who couldn't voice Beerus, Jussara Marques as Pan (probably because she's annoyed of dubbing children characters), Eleonora Prado (Android 18) for other commitments she had at the time, but Angelica Santos who voiced 18 in TV Special 2 and in GT IIRC did a good job in this movie.
- Overrall the quality of the dub was great as always and It won't be enough for me to thanking the team for everyone's effort to please the fans having the same experience they had decades ago.
