So there seems to be a consensus that anyone who wants some sort of consistency in strength is regarded as not being a real fan of the show or annoying. But when the case represents itself so clearly , why wouldn't you expect people being vocal about it? Would you find the same enjoyment if this wasnt Dragon ball? If no, doesnt that mean your standards for this show has been set low? Or having double- standards?
Power scalling or level was bs to begin with now its turned into 11 and thats bothering people.
Imagine at the end of Buu saga you' re ssj3-tier level and shortly after that you became a god and trained with the likes of Whis for a while in your base form..... now 17 who has been training (how he trained and how he got this strong is unknown yet defenders buy into his power leap but criticize Frieza s leap....ok) training probably all by his own and yet was able to not only push Goku in his base form but also in his ssj form to the point Goku had to transform into his blue form and guess what 17 was still holding back ooh but lets convienently ignore this and say only Goku was the only one holding back.
And lets not forget base Vegeta tanking ssj 3 Gotenks.
So how strong is 17 and how did he get so strong? If you dont know then why are you defending something you yourself have no answers to? And if the broken power scalling does not bother you why do you then bother with people who clearly do? People are vocal about because it keeps happening time and time again.
2) ssb is losing its charm by Goku spamming it.
self explanatory
I didnt want to do this but people keep defending
Re: I didnt want to do this but people keep defending
I'd like to respond with this post
Complaining about power level this episode is like complaining about Goku and vegeta not destroying planet when they fight in DBZ.
The whole point of SSJ full power in Cell saga is Goku being able to live a normal life while being SSJ, this mean BETTER KI CONTROL. The SSB was introduced as the TRANSFORMATION WITH BEST KI CONTROL i.e better ki control than the SSJ 1 full power.
With these fact, we can interpret the fight :
Goku only have 2 transformation where he can freely control his Ki (SSJ1 and SSB), Goku didn't know where C17 stand in power past SSJ1 (C17 being obviously stronger than SSJ1) but his goal is to measure C17 power, not to win against him. What transformation allow him to be stronger than SSJ1, measuring efficiently C17 power ? It's SSB of course
.
There was ABSOLUTELY NO power scaling problem with Goku vs C17 OR Goku vs Krillin, it can easily be explained like 90% of said "incosistencies" in DB.
I accept that the overuse of SSB is a real problem but we shouldn't go out of the way to call everything "inconsistencies", bad writing or poor writing are more fitting term
NB: DB didn't become a legendary franchise because of its writing.

Re: I didnt want to do this but people keep defending
But why make another thread?
When these complaints flood the board in spite of the mountain of containment threads, why wouldn't you expect people to be annoyed by it? When these complaints are often less about "where the characters stand in power" and more about "how consistently the storyboarding and animation conveyed feats for the characters", why wouldn't you expect people to be annoyed by it?
You can't have Gohan and #18 agree that Krillin is no match for Goku, but then complain that the power scaling is "messed up" just because you can't use this precious systematic method of interpretation that the online fandom has built over the course of several decades (and now worships) to show it. You can't have Goku and #17 have a match that keeps things largely ambiguous, and then complain that the power scaling is "messed up" just because there are unanswered questions.
Animators aren't animating things so as to telegraph data for you to add to your spreadsheets, from which to extrapolate numbers to crunch for your lists.

Re: I didnt want to do this but people keep defending
The symtom is stil there, that's why people keep talking about it, that's how we function as a society. We stop talking about it when the symtom no longer represents itself upfront which affects the enjoyment of what seems like most of the fandom that's why you can't disregard by saying, "ït makes sense", or "it isn't that big of a deal" while many people keep talking about it, it clearly is. Just like many people complained how slow-paced this season of TWD was. No one said don't make the side chacters stronger but do it in a reasonable pace. So 17 is has become this strong, huh? Well care to explain how? Remember it took a prodigy and already strong fighter Vegeta to train with the gods to get this strong!Zephyr wrote:But why make another thread?
