Post by Dibizyota » Wed Feb 24, 2016 7:31 am

Hello every one!

I want to share a fanmanga "Dragon Ball SQ (South Quadrant)" made by several DBZ artists, Moffett1990 (the creator of DBSQ), Elyas, Karoine, Sebliet, Malikstudios and Dibizyota.

Dragon Ball SQ takes place in the south quadrant on Planet Lumbar far away from the Z fighters and the stories we know. We follows Doru and his friends threw many hardships and trails to protect their planet and people they love, it is filled with all the action comedy and romance the original DB, DBZ, DBGT was filled with but with all new original stories and characters
if you were a fan of DBZ you will love this new spin-off .
Come join Doru and the crew in DBSQ!

I'm still in the process of reading, but its weakness is I have no idea what the heck is going on. I'm in the middle of God of War, and after that I will read SQ Special 2, but for right now, I have more questions than answers, and its mainly because of apparently these two pure hearted saiyans. And for right now, right when I'm finally getting an interest in the main story, you move on to this special about the God of War, which has some decent world building, but that could have come later, when questions of where these Saiyans are, why are they alive, why are they not savages, and what further adventures are they going to be having after they beat this alien. And then after this special, there is another special. I would just hope that more time on the main story is given later.

Pros is the impressive artwork, no complaints there. I like the designs of the new races, as well as this God of War, wasn't expecting an Owl.

You're right there is a lot of information but in the same time not enough. I'm doing the revamps of the main story until page 46 and meanwhile Karoine is continuing the main story until the first saga is over. I will maybe do the 2nd saga after that :p
Pages of DBSQ God of War are release in the same time than the main story.
Yeah, I agree it can be confused for new people who start to read it because everything is in progress in the same time but thanks to read it :)

Having worked on one of the specials and assisted in the writing of the main story, I can say that even before my involvement I was really interested in SQ. I like the direction the story is heading, and I think any Dragon Ball fan won't find their time wasted giving SQ a read :)

Hello fellow DBZ fans, my name is DeAndre Moffett aka Moffett1990 the creator of DBSQ.

I saw a few questions raised on the series and figured I'd clear it up as best as I could. I know the time point in Dorus life in which I decided to start the series in is kind of confusing :P

The first thing I'll get out of the way for those of you who don't know DBSQ does not take place on earth, it actually isn't in the north quadrant at all hence the name DBSQ ( South Quadrant ).

DBSQ takes place in the south quadrant of the universe on a planet called Lumbar. Also this manga is read from left to right!

I'll now answer the question that stuck out to me the most, and get a bit into the background and hopefully all questions will be answered.

Doru and Broco are NOT full blooded saiyans. This is stated in the main story and one of the specials but I can see how they would be confused as such, but again no they are In fact half Lumbardian.

I guess I'll start at the beginning of SQ

( the special chapters )

Yes you read that right the two specials out actually come before the main story.

the first special was drawn by Rogeru and Malik and written by myself and edited by Malik. In this special the back story on how the saiyans ( Nappa, Raditz, and Prince Vegeta ) first came into contact with the lumbardians is told.
This special starts it all without it there is no Doru & Broco, it takes place not long after the destruction of planet Vegeta.
During this chapter if you pay close attention you'll notice a tipsy Nappa and kashi sneak off. This is when Broco and his twin sister Coli are conceived.

Doru isn't born until 10 years later and not much on that has been revealed other than the fact that Raditz is Dorus father..

the second special which was drawn by "TFArmadaFan" written by myself. I'd like to note that Malik helped with a few scenarios in this special as well and even named the god of war.

In this special we skip ahead to the birth and infant life of young Doru, you can spot Broco and his twin sister coli ( who are around 9-10 years old ) running around. You are also introduced to the "god of war" and his "servant" Fir llab. Their reason for visiting lumbar is to see the new Lumbardian God ( Doru ) they are shocked to find out he is a hybrid....

For more information on that you'll have to read the special :P

I know the Lumbardian God will raise questions but all I'll say on that is the actual Lumbardian history has yet to be revealed and they are a very special race or should I say subspecies ;)

Then we pick back up in the main story which is 15-16 years after the god of war special. Very soon after the death of Lord freeza and his father King Kold. Here we are reintroduce to Doru and Broco and they are in saiyan armor which I know raises questions, but believe me all blank spots and questions are covered either in a special that has yet to be released or in the future parts of the main story..

The main story was originally written/drawn by myself but at that time I wasn't anywhere near as experienced as I am now so it was redrawn by Elyas who also kinda acted as an assistant writer, I'd bounce my ideas back and fourth with him until they were perfected. Later on Elyas moved into one of my original works and the main story was taken over by Karoine during that time Malik took the place of that assistant writer and he and I began bouncing ideas back and fourth sometimes for both DBSQ and DBNA. The original pages by Elyas are being redone by Dibizyota with slight story changes to them.

Any further questions feel free to ask I'll do my best to explain them without giving too much spoilers..

Also check out the animations I did for the series:

This is one of my favorite fan created DB works almost entirely because Moffett1990 created an entire new set of characters and settings from scratch, where typically others (including myself) just re-use the main DB cast.
I do far more lurking than actual posting.

Okay, if you wish.

Having finally caught up with the backstories (btw, some of the files for Special 2 aren't working) My thoughts:

-The potential for original stories is there being in a different area of the universe, but instead we're just getting set pieces fighting. At least with canon Dragonball there was character and plot build up.
-The cast is too small.
-Brocco's dead, but I feel nothing because we was only introduced to him in this current story arc, and his personality hasn't left a meaningful impact on me.
-More Super Saiyans I can accept, if it was actually built towards instead of dropping it on us.
-The villain is mildly interesting, and has a valid reason to hate Saiyans, but besides being in the wrong part of the galaxy, he kills Brocco, firmly setting him to "evil, must destroy", villain instead of "anti-hero and later teammate if captured alive" villain, which is a shame, because like I said, mildly interesting, and has a valid reason to be the way he is.

I don't know what you guys have in store for DBSQ, but based on what the older comic pages show me, the story is looking like it will follow staples of normal Dragonball. its not enough to place this story in another galaxy, separate any similarities to Dragonball, after this battle, I ask to go into a different direction for more freshness.

Foolsgil thanks for taking time to give feedback it's greatly appreciated.

-The potential for original stories is there being in a different area of the universe, but instead we're just getting set pieces fighting. At least with canon Dragonball there was character and plot build up.

* I started DBSQ off in the middle of Dorus Broco and the gangs story purposely as some key elements from their past will be used in saga 2 and be shown in foreshadowing..as for set pieces of fighting are you sure you've read all of the story so far? There's a lot more then just fighting...

-The cast is too small.

* it's only mid way through the first saga the cast will build. We will get a few new characters within the next few pages BUT let's be honest the entire story is with New characters.

-Brocco's dead, but I feel nothing because we was only introduced to him in this current story arc, and his personality hasn't left a meaningful impact on me.

* although broco is dead we will be following his life after death as well so there will be more time for him as a character to grow. However he was not only in this first arc he was also in one of the special chapters.

-More Super Saiyans I can accept, if it was actually built towards instead of dropping it on us.

* Again I started the story at this point for a reason that will later be explained ;)

* I'm not sure what you mean by wrong part of the Galaxy. Segah is from the south quadrant and saiyans came to his planet and killed everyone. Seeing as those specific saiyans ( aside from Vegeta ) are already dead at this point and there are saiyans on a planet in the south he goes to said planet which is Lumbar. In the end of the second special the saiyans are shown landing on his planet and then later segah reveals what happened on that planet that caused his hatred for saiyans and his thirst for revenge. He wants to eradicate all saiyans and take anything and everything dear from them like they did him and his ppl.

* Seeing as it's a DBZ fan series and not a 100% original I can't separate it 100% from any and everything else that was in the series but I'll do my best to keep it original.

Thank you, DBSQ actually started because of my children. They are fans of the series and one day my at the time 4yr old daughter came up to me and said daddy can you draw me a kid goku with long hair. I did then she looked at me and said well now who is he? Randomly I said Doru she started asking questions about him and DBSQ was born :P

I try my hardest to follow DBZ canon making a story that actually could have happened in the canon timeline. I found the easiest way to do that was to avoid the main cast and what better way to do that then make a story in another quadrant of the universe :D another creator was inspired by my series and even came to me for help on his series a little in writing but mostly in character design. That series is called DBWQ and I gotta say I'm a fan of it so far it's pretty interesting..
